Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value and great location Stayed for 2 nights in large comfortable room looking out on to the race course. Service was very good throughout. The breakfast was good with a wide variety of cereals, yoghurts, pastries, fruit and hot food served in a bright and spacious breakfast room Can't fault the hotel and would definitely stay again if the price remains reasonable. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value I had a brief one night stay during a house move. After a very stressful day it was great to find a clean friendly hotel for the night. The car park was huge and fairly empty on a Friday night. Would have been better if they had a security barrier. The front of house staff were polite and attentive. The room itself was quite small but functional. It was a standard room and had a double bed with a sofa bed. It had a very small hanging rail but no wardrobe so not ideal for long stays. Complimentary tea and coffee were provided along with towels, toiletries (body wash is fab - no need to take your own) and a hair dryer. Iron and ironing board would have been nice. The bathroom was small, just a shower, sink and toilet (which has it's own door for privacy# and very clean. We woke up in the middle of the night to find the room unbearably hot so you do have to sleep with the air conditioning on. We didn't use the restaurant, instead choosing to go over to the Rubbing House pub which is ok, nothing special #but we knew that as we are locals). Breakfast at the hotel was great. Sausages, baked beans and scrambed eggs, toast, croissants, pain au chocolat, fruit, cereals, toast, tea/coffee and very diluted fruit juice! We are having to stay again soon with our 3 year old which I'm dreading as the rooms are very very small and I've no idea how the sofa bed will fare but needs must so we will just have to hope! Location is perfect for the racecourse but probably a £10 taxi ride from town. April 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice quiet room and friendly staff This was a return visit and it was all that we anticipated. Again a good stay. Would have appreciated the availability of a high fibre breakfast cereal, eg Bran Flakes or Crunchy Bran. Awful music played in the lobby/sitting area/bar. Best without it - we like to choose our own style of music!. April 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wedding party We booked to stay with family and friends for our daughter's wedding which was held in Epsom. We found the hotel, the Event Management team and the location excellent. The hotel was easy to access from Epsom station for those who had come by train. The rooms were clean and comfortable with good hot showers. Breakfast was good and it was useful being on the Downs for people to walk, if they wished. There was a twenty-four hour desk so it was not difficult to get into the rooms after the wedding. All our guests (and there were nearly seventy!) were very pleased with the hotel, it served our purpose admirably. A great experience and one to be recommended! April 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and relaxing A comfortable and relaxed stay in a clean and uncluttered environment. The linen looked as if it had just been purchased..... It was beautiful and white!! The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the choice of pillows. I would certainly recommend this hotel chain to family and friends. April 21, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room layout designed by a man :-) I have stayed at this hotel a number of times on business and always find the room exceptionally clean (including the sheets & towels) - which is an important factor to me, personally. The reception staff are always very helpful & pleasant (especially Katie). My one criticism is that there is no plug near a mirror - making it difficult to use electrical hair appliances and be able to see what you are doing at the same time (hence the title of my comment). I take my own small mirror now :-) Oh and can we have bananas for breakfast please. April 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bed not very comfortable Stayed at this holiday express for two nights visiting family and we chose this one as it was cheaper than the Sutton surrey holiday express where we normally stay. It is clean and fresh and the only down side was that the bed although a proper double was sloping inwards to the middle which led to an uncomfortable night's sleep. Other than that I would recommend it, location next the racecourse id good and good pub over the road. April 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality stay in quiet location We often stay at this Holiday Inn Express up on the Downs. The quiet location is ideal with walks for our dogs on the doorstep. Comfortable beds - I prefer a feather pillow - but the 'soft' pillow works - clean & fresh room, relaxed atmosphere and good breakfast - particularly the muffins! April 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by epsom holiday inn Lovely spacious holiday inn, close to rail and road net works. Staff were excellent throughout our three day break. Family room, good and clean. Only ate breakfast here, caters for all. Staff attentive in a tricky situation!! Highly recommend to others. Excellent parking April 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short stay It's was good value and comfortable and I would use it again March 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This hotel is not so good The room was OK, but the furniture was ancient and worn out, the TV was old with only 6 or 7 channels and 3 radio channels, in this day & age with freeview & freesat this was a massive disappointment and needs addressing, the bed was comfortable but small, the breakfast wasn't brilliant, quite limited and not a lot of choice, very poor coffee & from a machine i might add, why oh why do they not have real coffee, if you want tea then it's a bag in a cup, and i HATE that, i would not recommend this Hotel, it was quite poor all in all. one thing it has going for it is there is a pub close by selling nice food and real ale, so i went there for the evening. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Epsom revisited Spent two nights at the "Downs" - a place I regularly visited in my well spent youth. Has changed mightily - so much development - including the Holiday Inn. Good value for money - quiet - pleasant staff - adequate food - and the room comfortable. We simply used it for a place to sleep and have breakfast. There is absolutely no point in spending a lot of money on a very well appointed hotel unless you are there for a duration and can make use of the facilities. Consequently this hotel meets the requirements in all respects and more adequately than some for "bed and board". Much amused by small groups sitting silently together fingering smart phones. Never realised that a smart phone could be so beneficial - no babbling conversation. Public areas almost silent - blissful! February 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by excellent helpful staff happy to recommend this hotel. Staff are always helpful in my view best hotel i have stayed in from this chain. January 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good service and friendly staff We had a very pleasant stay at Holiday Inn Express over the weekend of mid Jan 13, arriving in the late morning, we were able to have a room straight away. The room 101 we were given did make a lot of noise with the heating noise creating quite a bit of a disturbance and they were happy to change room later with no fuss. The breakfast was very good, especially as it was complementary! Not fantastic choice but plenty of it and choice of hot and cold. Altogether an excellent stay thanks. January 27, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Small bed! Overall, the hotel is average. However, I would not recommend the hotel for couples because the bed is far too small (1.40m wide). In addition, the evening dinner is not very good. January 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful scenery This hotel was great value and we enjoyed our stay. The views outside we're lovely and there was a couple of lovely pubs near by, it also looked onto the Epsom Downs and race course. The only bit of criticism would be the beds were rather small , I would say a small double , so if your on the tall side your feet will hang out !! . The bar area was rather quiet and you have to go round to reception to get a member of staff to serve you. Our overall experience was we would definitely book this hotel should we ever be in the area. January 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Repeat visit as expected We have used this hotel before. It is convenient and the staff are friendly. The bed was comfortable. An extended TV choice would be an improvement and more reasonably priced internet. January 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleasant room, clean and comfortable This was our first stay here and we were very impressed with the service received and the pleasant staff. The room was large and comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was very impressive with a variety of foods and drinks offered in pleasant suroundings. We will certainly be staying here again in the future. January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Even Better This was our third stay at this hotel and the overall experience has improved on each visit..Even included complementary mince pies in our room on Christmas Day with a card signed by all the Staff! Well done! January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location This was our second stay at this hotel and I have to say it exceeded our expectations. The hotel and the rooms are of an excellent design and could not be faulted . The location is wonderful with views across the Downs . Breakfast was very good for a budget chain hotel although the scrambled egg was rather tasteless. Probably due to powdered egg being used. Would definitely stay again . One small niggle - If you are walking out from the hotel , the route takes you on a well worn path across the racecourse. This does get very muddy . As it is obviously for the exclusive use of the hotel , I would have thought some kind of plastic matting could be laid across the course on non- race days. Otherwise wellington boots are needed! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We really enjoyed our stay I took my family to stay as part of my Dad's 80th birthday celebrations. The hotel was fresh, clean, well appointed and so well situated for a walk on the Downs. The rooms were clean - one small moan - the mirror was nowhere near the dressing table or plug for hair curlers etc (admittedly the wrired-in hairdryer was by the mirror# There were 10 of us and stayed for the evening meal. Whilst the choice was a bit limited, and the parsnips rock-hard, I've got to say the food was excellent - really good, and plenty of it. We thoroughly enjoyed it We were the only ones eating at the time, and though they had the front desk to run as well, Pearly and Kate (sorry if I'm not meant to mention names - but they deserve the plaudits# were lovely, great humoured with my Dad and really looked after us well - thank you so much. Braekfast was lovely, as mucha s you like, and the croissants etc fresh and delicious - but the choice of 'hot's limited #no bacon!) For the money we paid my whole party thought that the service we received far exceeded our expectations and I would most definately recommend this hotel and hope to stay again....before my Dad is 90! I sincerely hope this review encourages others to stay. December 15, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean , comfortable and VFM Comforatble beds, spotlessly clean, helpful staff and a great location December 7, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Peaceful location Peaceful location, excellent facilities, free parking and within short distance to M25 and M4. December 4, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sleeping in your beds I find always soft mattress and sleeping is not good... Also quality of blanket for bed is poor; it's too thick or too thin... no reasonable middle ways. November 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel and great location We enjoyed our one night here. The room was comfortable and the bar / breakfast area very spacious. It was wonderful to see horses exercising on the downs next to the hotel and the nearby view over London was amazing. November 15, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service - Friendly Staff Overall I would recommend this hotel. The rooms are good, clean and modern. However there are only a few TV channels and it is very expensive. November 13, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good service We (2 adults and 2 children) needed to stay in a hotel at short notice and made reservation very easily and check-in fast and no hassle. Room was quiet and well equipped. I particularly like the blue light setting in the bathroom especially in middle of night so no bright bathroom light - brilliant idea. Breakfast had good selection of cereals and foods (although I would have liked a bit of bacon). No restaurant as such but they do serve evening meals and pub within 2 minutes walk excellent. Location is on top of Epsom racecourse and easy to find. All in all excellent stay and would recommend. Staff very helpful and service good. November 6, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely room comfy beds Stayed for two nights, a good welcome, staff were effficient and friendly, check in was quick and easy, the room was lovely and warm which was a bonus as weather outside was freezing! The first morning breakfast wasn't too good as the hot drinks machine was out of order and food not very warm, they had some problems with the water although on our second day everything was hot and tasty in good working order, a beautiful view overlooking the racecourse, will definetly be staying here again! November 3, 2012
