Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience Checked in Monday 12th May was greeted by Bethany and Melody on reception, very professional and explained the layout of the hotel, gave me the dinner and breakfast times and showed me where the latte machine's were. I desperately needed a hair cut and they recommended Celly's which was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. They were also able to recommended places to go and the fantastic shopping that is on offer in Swindon. They were absolutely fantastic and provided a wealth of knowledge and nothing was too much trouble. There is something for everyone on the dinner menu and their chef is only too happy to add to anything you order. Also met with Miraslav ( I hope I've spelt his name correctly ) he is the night manager and is definitely this hotel's biggest asset. He has the patience of a saint and is willing to go the extra mile. I had a brilliant stay and was made to feel at home would recommended this hotel to anyone visiting Swindon. May 15, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DISAPPOINTING Unfortunately, this stay was extremely disappointing. Normally stay at another chain but this was central. Wanted some food on arrival late afternoon and was told by reception staff "there is no food at weekends!" Later we saw families tucking into meals! We had room on the fourth floor, double aspect windows overlooking other buildings, pubs etc. Noise from pubs/club went on until well after 3am, couldn't open window due to this then other inconsiderate guests were shouting in the corridor at around 3.30am. Such a shame as have had good stays at Holiday Inns but not this one :-( May 14, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff I was late arriving and the climb up the scruffy stairs did not bode well. However, the staff were great, the room was nice and the chef let me order a meal a little after the kitchen was due to close, as I had been delayed by trains. A good sleep, but a limited choice for breakfast. The stair well to reception is a big let down and needs brightening up. May 13, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Purrr.....fection Stayed at this hotel on several occasions. Did not disappoint! The room we were allocated was superb cannot believe we had this room for the price we paid. It was the best room in the hotel. Staff were polite and really helpful. The Hotel was extremely busy on the Sunday morning with guests struggling to find seats for breakfast as well as running out of food. However, the staff pulled out all the stops to ensure this problem was resolved, even the receptionists came to help out. Could have done with even more help. Despite some guests complaining aggressively, the staff kept cool and professional at all times. Well done HIE Swindon, it was a pleasure to stay with you May 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't be staying here again!!! Where do I start?! I am very particular of the brand of hotel I stay at. The past experiences of The Holiday Inn as a hotel brand has been exceptional but this particular stay has made me doubt the chain and make me wonder whether to book again with them. - Advertised as free wifi... EVERYWHERE. But this was wrong. From 8pm till the time I checked out there was no internet access. Phoned reception & complained, reply was "we are waiting for a call from our service provider." When checking out the lady at reception asked the usual courtesy question of "was everything ok with your stay?" I mentioned the no access to the wifi and her excuse was "the building is very big & when a lot of guest are using the wifi the service is poor." Are you joking?! We are in 2014 not in the 90s with dial up internet connections! I stayed at the hotel for business, and no wifi was a complete disruption for me. I needed the wifi to complete work, that it why I stayed at a hotel who rave about their wifi, but I did not receive this good experience as advertised. - I lost count of how many hairs I found in the bed... Not pleasant at all. - the curtains were ripped; the dressing table chair was battered and old; and the bathroom door had what seemed to be cement covering a hole (see photos) - the dust on almost ever surface was distinguishing! - there were no bathroom amenities like soap - I ordered a chicken burger for room service. Reception stated it would take 45 mins when I ordered which seemed quite excessive but accepted anyway. The meal turned up 1 hour & 5 mins later. The chips were warm-ish, the burger was lovely but the menu stated it came with onion rings & was did not receive these. I may sound a bit petty but these little things just added to my overall frustration of the hotel. - the air conditioning / heating system was not active / did not work (unlike what each room is advised to have). There was however a little old fashioned electric fire which barely gave off any heat - I went down to breakfast at 6:30am. The hotel advised a continental breakfast, however when I got there there was no hot food. I thought I had been mistaken so sat down with my slice of toast & butter. Whilst at the table I began to read the menu which stated hot breakfast such as beans, savages, scrambled egg. Therefore I comforted the lady on reception about it. She went into the kitchen & brought out the food at 6:50 (after questioning). I found this quite unacceptable that guests had to ask for food which should have been laid out buffet style. Overall... Very disappointed with my stay. May 5, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reveiw The staff was 1st Class. I did lose my sweater and they found it, folded it and keep it in a safe place for me. And even I returned late into the morning from a night 2 members of staff called my name out and told they had it. Also we was looking for a place to eat and they recommended a couple of places local and also suggested some dishes they had tried themselfs. April 13, 2014

Kids squawking and screaming in the night and really early and when they went for breakfast the kids were running and screeching in the corridor. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service and room, Noisy location Located next to a late night bar with an external area and outside bar. Very Noisy. I was in an even numbered room, apparently the odd numbered rooms on the reverse side of the hotel are much quieter. Too late for me to know that now. I wasn't charged in the end and that was offered to me without me suggesting it. Great customer service to be fair. Good rate and breakfast is great as it's free. March 24, 2014

So for a longer stay with luggage its very cramped and uncomfortable . A good central loaction, and breakfast and free wifi. are its only plus points. March 19, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Broken Lift Upon arrival we checked in and got in the lift to go up to our rooms. The lift made a few clunking noises then it stopped. We kept pressing the start button but nothing happened, we tried to pull the doors open and a brick wall in front of us. We pressed the emergency button but no one answered. We kept pressing the emergency button for a very long time and no answer. As the lift was full it was getting hot and I was starting to panic, more due to the fact no one was responding. When we finally got a call back the guy was quite abrupt saying "we got your call so be patient as we will be with you shortly" took them 35 minutes which is apaulling and how we didn't pass out I do not know. The fact that we wasn't kept informed with what was happening was making me panic more. I cannot believe this service from an IHG brand, I expected better service than this. It took me most of the day to compose myself and think I will be walking the stairs from now on. The team there should have stayed in contact with us and answered our calls from the first one. We arrived early and were able to access our room earlier than anticipated which was lovely as it gave us more of the afternoon. I was going to say the front of house staff, but it should be ALL staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. Nothing was too much hassle for them. Booking in and out was easy. Room was clean and tidy and very comfortable and was more than adequate for our stay at the hotel. Breakfast has a vast variety of food catering for all needs and tastes and was hot and delicious. Would recommend to anyone needing somewhere to stay in Swindon. March 12, 2014

Good service. The bad bit is they don't have their own monitored car park and mine was one of three cars broken into overnight - so beware if you park overnight! March 8, 2014
