We stayed in the family room on a Saturday night and could not get to sleep until gone 3:30 am as there is a nightclub very close by playing extremely loud music until 3:30. There was no mention of this when we booked. The children's mattresses were also so thin they could feel the metal frame through the mattresses. Breakfast was also not much fun as there were no tables free and when we did find a seat most of the cooked food was empty and very slow to replenish. Overall, the worst room we have ever had. Beware unless you are using to go out drinking

This hotel offers decent service all round. We stayed for couple of nights with two teen age and one younger child. We thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality and breakfast wasn't too bad either.

I was in the room 413 these and disable room for a normal person. The help from reception on the time for made any change with the room wasn't very helpful. Breakfast.. not very good variety of food no fruit no many things of food to be clear you need to improve a lot of you services. One more thing no internet you have to pay £4 for a hour of internet. Most of the hotels and b&b have internet for free event hostels.

This hotel does not have a car park. You are expected to use the railway station car park and walk back across a dimly lit road to the hotel. The breakfast selection is very limited and not very tasty. I waited over 1 hour for a salad starter, which when it finally arrived, was definitely not as described in the menu. As described it would have been a Serrano ham, chicken and Rocket salad. What arrived was a chicken and CRESS salad. Other than being green there is little similarity between Rocket and Water Cress. There are plenty of other hotels to stay at in and around Swindon. I suggest, like me, you pick another hotel.

We have stayed in many Holiday Inn Express hotels which have been great, this one is easily the worst.
Although the hotel appeared to be fairly new or maybe refurbished, it is poorly disigned. There are two lifts, but one does not operate at certain times of the day, so the other lift becomes overused. Infact we resorted to using the stairs, rather than wait for the lift.
The breakfast area is a not ideal either, being split in two with the lifts in the middle.
We stayed only one night and I would not have wished to stay any longer, as this does not seem to be a great area of Swindon.

I left London after work on Thursday to treat myself for my Anniversary. I had Spa treatments booked locally for the following day. From the moment I arrived at the hotel I was welcomed by warm and attentive staff. I loved my room on the 3rd floor with the floor to ceiling windows. My room was spacious, bright and I had one of the most comfortable beds. The hotel is just a short walk from the station which was ideal for me. Thank you Holiday Inn for a relaxing 2 days, I look forward to my next visit.

Expectations were set quite high after first stay on 2nd July in room 127. This review is based on stay on 18th in room 214.
I left a feedback note to the manager in the morning but haven't heard back, hence attaching photo of the notes as review.
Had reservation for 23rd but cancelled it based on the experience and won't consider further stays.
In summary, given the price point and 3* budget hotel characteristics, the value for money isn't great and the sleep quality is compromised by the conditions of the rooms in summer.

The hotel was great for what I wanted to do - get off a train, walk to the hotel and find a place of peace and comfort and it did all of these things. My only gripe was the air conditioning - it was one of the hottest nights in the recent heatwave and the air conditioning simply wanted to do its own thing. It wouldn't stay on for an appreciable period and had no discernible cooling effect. I had to resort to opening awindow to get some cool air, but wa then woken up by the trains and traffic as it got light.....! Sort out the air-con and you'll have a great place to stay!

1. no indication on booking that parking was on a separate public car park site
2. air-conditioning in room was not working
3. fire alarm set off on shift change at 2.15am with no indication given as to this being a false alarm
4. noise from neighbouring disco at wholly unacceptable level (notwithstanding our 5th floor room) until 3am
5. only basic food (pizza) available notwithstanding advertisements in the hotel to the contrary
6. hole in bathroom door
7. television not working
clearly not a good nights sleep but compensation provided by way of a full refund nevertheless you should be aware of the issues.

When we arrived the lady at the reception desk politely said hello and asked for my check in details only to stop mid sentence to answer the phone. She then proceeded to ignore me for over five minutes without even an apology. When I was finally seen to I went to my room to find that it was incredibly hot. I used the air conditioning but to no avail, eventually I had to have the window open and had to endure the noisy sounds of the town for the night.

We found it difficult to find the hotel initially and by the time we did find it were tired and a little irritated . However , thanks to the lovely welcoming manner and efficiency shown by Miroslav (think that was his name ?) , our room was quickly allocated and all irritation was forgotten as we settled into our room . On the downside , rooms facing the one street can be very noisy (noise goes on till clubs shut around 4a.m. Apparently) . Because we had a long onward journey to make the next day , around midnight we requested a room change and we were immediately offered a lovely quiet room on the top floor. The staff here certainly make up for any inadequacies due to location and awkwardness of parking and because of this I would recommend this hotel in Swindon .

The staff was great, helpful, and solved issues quickly. The hotel is close to the fabulous town center. The major problem was rowdy people in the streets and the difficulty of actually parking. However, you could not ask for a better staff

Hotel staff made me feel very welcome. Good car parking facilities nearby which were inexpensive. Comfortable room with all the usual facilities. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Had a meeting on arrival and enjoyed the complimentary coffees and relaxing lounge. Good value for money. Well done HIEX

This is a great location if you are not travelling by car. Its hard to find (down a side street) with double yellow lines all around the hotel entrance and right opposite a police station!. As i am law abiding it took 3 attempts round the one way system to get back to the drop off point - which was full of taxi's. There is no on site parking - you park in the drop zone (or on double yellows) take the lift to the 1st floor for reception - check in - dump stuff in room - return to ground floor then move car to train station car park. Only about a 3 min walk away but wouldn't want to do it in bad weather or on dark nights. Oh and you have to pay £6 for the privelidge of walking back to your car. Food was limited to say the least - steak was inedible and returned. Easier to eat shoe leather. Gave up and got great fish and chips from the chippy at end of road. The team however are great and do a fantastic job - not their fault it's the location - Please use - if you arrive by train!

Reception were very helpful on arrival and also very friendly on departure. Given an upgraded room was a surprise as pensioners we do not use hotels very frequently, the additional pillows were quickly produced.Location for Town Centre very good with restaurants close by .

This is a funny HIE hotel, I understand it was built to be a Crown Plaza as some of the rooms are huge, suites at the group do not match the size of some of the rooms, overall in the middle of Swindon short walk from the train station and some ok eating places near by.
I have been a number of times with a public car park a short walk and would rate this as above average for a express, I feel the staff are good and happy to engage a conversation with you in the bar area.
As a gold member I got a gold choc bar, a free drink would of been better!

I use Holiday Inn quite a lot and the experience on this occassion was just about bottom.
Upon arrival the reception was unable to place my reservation and explained the hotel was full. I had a booking via my company so I had to boot up my lap top in order to retrieve the booking reference.
The reception were then able to trace the booking, though I am unsure what would have transpired had I not had the lap top.
I reached my room.
The carpet had red stains on several parts of the carpet which was mostly threadbare. The light on the wall had no cover across the bulb.
The TV had no remote so I called the reception, who sent up the 'engineer'. The 'engineer' confirmed that the reason there was no remote was that the TV does not work. #i.e. the hotel was aware the TV did not work#
I called the reception to ask for a different room. The hotel was fully / over booked so they apologised and offered me free WiFi in exchange. There being no alternative I took the WiFi.
The following morning I checked with the reception to see if it was on the 'to do list'. It was not, but they confirmed it would be.
Upon my return that evening I checked the TV, but there was no remote and no TV working. No note to contact anyone.
I called reception. They did not know about the TV, but offered another room. My clothes are all unpacked and I am checking out tomorrow. I decline and am offered the free WiFi.
Not the best.
Breakfast was OK.
The staff were very pleasant.

Exclent location and new building.Best of all is the staff, always friendly and motivated, with kind words for everyone.
Only thing to change would be, at breakfsat, the small boxes of cereals, as they are not very eco-friendly for the amount of waste (plastic, cardboard) generated, I'd change them for large dispensers to minimise this.

There was obvious stress and problems at reception when I arrived.
The room felt 'used' with stains on the carpet etc and a leaking sink.
I was shocked that another person was given the same key number as me and came in to my room after I had gone to bed.
The TV kept cutting out, probably because the server was struggling.
After I went for breakfast, I couldn't get back in to my room, I think because I had been checked out by mistake.
Not the best of stays. A pity as I have stayed with Holiday Inn Express many many times and never had these problems before. Its usually excellent.
