the rooms are very good and clean.
the included breakfast is the best no other Hinn has this breakfast free.

What a lovely stay! Hotel rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable. Still feels brand new. While for my taste, breakfast was a little lacking but the quality of the fruit was very fresh. I'd highly recommend this property and would return if I'm ever in Tapachula again! The pick up/drop off to the airport was also a huge plus. They coordinate it with incoming/outgoing flights so you don't have to prearrange, except for return when you put your name on reservation list.

Stayed 8 nights at this hi. Staff great, room great , everyone helped make my stay great. Wish tv had more channels and espn but lived through it.

I've already written a review on TripAdvisor, but wanted to add my compliments here as well.
First, I want to say that I have been staying at this hotel off and on for about 10 months, and have probably stayed a total of 12 weeks at the hotel in 2013.
I have been able to enjoy each of the room types - standard, deluxe and the Finca Irlanda Suite, and have no complaints with any of them.
My review is about the hotel amenities and service as compared to the price paid, so people shouldn't be comparing this to a 5-star resort when they write their reviews - this is a Holiday Inn Express - relax people!
That being said, the HIE in Tapachula does an excellent job treating customers with respect and with professionalism. When I walk into the lobby, the staff greets me by name and with a smile. I can't say enough good things about the personnel - from the drivers of the shuttle from the airport, the security, the receptionists and the greeters at the breakfast area - they are truly top notch people. I can name most of them by name as well so it really bothers me when I see other customers being rude to them. Get a life and take out your frustrations on someone else, not the people that are trying to do their jobs and help you get into a comfortable room. If you don't like the rates, negotiate or go somewhere else if you can find a better place for less money.
Anyway - The Rooms -
I don't think I've ever stepped into a dirty or musty smelling room. The hotel is only a few years old, so that helps, but obviously the cleaning staff does a great job. The floors are tile, so you don't have the musty carpet smell. I also feel comfortable not having to lock everything up (though all the rooms do come with a security safe) - I've never felt that my belongings had been tampered with, and I've even accidentally left money out on the nightstand, with nothing missing. I've had an occassional light bulb go out or flicker, and when I come back the next day, it had been replaced without having to say anything. It's that kind of attention to detail that I appreciate.
The Suite is great if you're able to get into one. Unfortunately, they only have 4 available, so it's not always a possibility. I enjoyed the ability work in one room and sleep in another. The fridge and microwave and kitchen area was a nice touch too.
Also, I appreciate the 3-4 bottles of water that are left on the counters daily. I've been to other HIE facilities and I've had to drink the tap water because the bottles aren't made available.
I was actually upgraded to the suite because I had reached Platinum status, and I really appreciated the gesture - there were probably other people they could have given the room to as well, but I'm glad I was upgraded without asking. You see? It pays to be kind to the reception staff.
The beds are comfortable, and there are 2 pillow firmness choices, and my bed always had 4 pillows on it. Nice clean fluffy white comforter - not the heavy, dark colored ones that other hotels use so they can hide the stains.
Bathroom accessories were nice as well. Lots of towels and hand towels, replaced daily. The suite even has a comb, mouthwash, and toothpaste and toothbrush already there in case yours was forgotten.
Also, all the rooms have hairdryer, iron and ironing board, alarm clock with radio, 37" LCD TV with remote, Quiet, wall mounted A/C units with remote, ice bucket, and coffee maker with bottled water and coffee and to-go cups. I don't think I've ever had to ask the front desk for an item - the rooms come with everything you need.
The Gym -
This last trip I actually used the gym and pool. The gym is not very big and yes, it seems a bit humid and musty at first, but if you just turn on the air conditioner and wait a couple of minutes, it's fine. Tapachula is humid and hot for most of the year - it makes sense. The quality of the treadmill is excellent - I ran 7km at a good pace and never felt like the machines struggled. There are also elliptical machines and a bike machine that all face the large glass sliding doors so you never feel claustrophobic. And there's also a TV and a single set of dumbbells. If anything - I would like to see a small rack of dumbbells, and maybe another TV in the other corner so people don't have to look up and across the room if they're using a machine further away from the TV set.
The pool -
The pool is okay. It's pretty basic - a rectangle shape - no hot tub, no water features, and kind of small. It's okay for kids and families though. I tried to swim laps, but being 6'2" (188cm) and a fairly strong swimmer, the pool isn't long enough to be suitable for that - though I still managed to get some good exercise from it. There are lots of tables and pool chairs for getting sun and relaxing if that's what you enjoy.
Also, the front desk will give you a large pool towel at your request.
The free breakfast is definitely a plus. I've been to several other HIE's and they all seem to do breakfast differently. I only rated the breakfast a 4/5 not because there isn't a good selection, but because when you eat there every day for weeks at a time, it would be nice to see some of the items change from time to time. For most guests, the variety will be more than adequate. This particular hotel always has scrambled eggs, bacon, black beans and a red and green salsa as the staple menu. I admit, I stopped eating the beans - it gets tiring after a while. Sometimes they'll have a side of plantains or other Mexican style breakfast items to compliment. Fresh fruit of mango, cantaloupe and watermelon are always available - as well as toast, pan dulce, and a few yogurt varieties with toppings. They have a few cereals as well.
I would actually eat the cereal if they would change it up a bit. They usually only have kid cereal. My recommendation is that they keep the plain bran flakes as a cereal option, rather than a yogurt topping so that customers can add raisins to make a Raisin Bran. Of course, there are a variety of juices and coffee as well.
The kitchen staff does a good job getting breakfast set up on time, and it's even available early sometimes. Mariel, the breakfast area greeter/manager, is always there with a smile and really seems to care to make sure everything is to customer expectations.
Business Center -
I only used the business center once. The supervisor was very accommodating and helped us get a wall connection since it was necessary for what we needed. Internet speed was okay.
You really can't beat the location. Although the hotel is on the edge of town, it's on the right edge of town. It's on the same highway as the airport - only a 15 minute ride. Even if you need a cab to the airport, it costs only 180 pesos, and you can share the fare if needed. The hotel has free shuttle service to the airport for each of the arriving and departing flights, so that's a plus.
There is a covered breezeway that leads to a mall that is also relatively new. The mall has a Wal-mart, movie theater, food court, plenty of stores and restaurants, barber shops and a cafe, as well as a laundry service. Everything you need is very close to the hotel.
Within walking distance, there is a Sam's Club, Home Depot, Auto Zone, and even an OXXO near the hotel's security gate.
If you want to go downtown to the centro, the 15 minute cab fare is only about 35-40 pesos, and the hotel reception desk can call one any time. Minimum cab fare is 30 pesos, so it's not bad at all. Also there is a bus stop very closeby where you can ride the Tapachulteco to downtown or anywhere in between (along Hwy 225) for only 6 pesos. It has stops every 2-3 blocks.
Things to do in the area -
Plaza Cristal - another mall and movie theater - smaller than the one attached to the hotel = 5 minutes.
Try visiting the local archeology museum downtown - it's small but interesting.
Izapa ruins are only about 15 minutes away.
The plaza / centro is only 15 minutes away
Tuxtla Chico border crossing = about 30 minutes to visit Guatemala.
Volcán Tacaná = 45 minutes to an hour
Santo Domingo & the Casa Grande = 30-40 minutes.
Finca Argovia / Hamburgo = 60-90 minutes
Other fincas around the same distance.
Playa Linda or Puerto Madero or Puerto Chiapas = 15-20 minutes.
Well, that sums it up. If you're coming to Tapachula, definitely give the Holiday Inn Express a chance.

-Personal atento en la recepción en el aeropuerto y check in
-Instalaciones adecuadas y cómodas.
-Bajo el entendido que el desayuno es Self-service, no hay personal disponible como para limpiar la mesa, otorgarte cubiertos o cambiar tu plato (básica atención durante el desayuno).
-Recomiendo revisar tu estado de cuenta a la salida, me hicieron un cargo por usar y dejar manchada (no lllevarme) una toalla de mano. Lo cual no te lo especifican a tu llegada.
