comfortable, clean, friendly, with generally good facilities. The exercise room could be larger with more diverse equipment.

This was our first time staying in Tell City - we usually stay in Owensboro, KY when visiting family - but they recently moved to Lewisport, so we thought we'd stay 'closer' to them. We haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn in years, but will definitely come back here every time we need to stay in the area. Can't rave enough about the comfort of the king bed we had - in fact, my husband and I hoped that the bed at our next stay in Kansas City (for 3 nights) would be as comfortable -- it was not quite there. This H.I.E in Tell City, was extremely clean, staff was friendly, and there were plenty of options for breakfast - including protein and fresh fruit. As a teacher on Spring Break, this was a great beginning to a much needed week of rest!

This hotel is run by a bunch of inexperienced girls. When i checked in, the girl at the reception looked to be on a call with another patron and looked annoyed with it. The second girl, who was also at the reception, and wasn't attending a patron, didn't bother to come help me check in till i made a fuss about it.
I had called in a couple of week earlier and made a request for a non ground level room. Since the last time i stayed there, i had ants and other bugs in my room on the ground level. I was assured that my room for the next stay wouldn't be on the ground level. And of course, when they gave me my room keys when i checked in, it was on the ground level.
They then proceed to give me keys to my room. When i finally get to my room and open the door, there was already another patron in the room! are you kidding me! That is completely embarrassing, and potentially dangerous situation to be in, i.e. if the rolls were reversed and i was in the room when a stranger walks in.
By the time i get back downstairs, I was too angry to say anything. They knew what they did wrong, I did not even say a word. Gave them the room key, while they worked on getting me a different room. Additionally, i did not appreciate the reception girl's tired/annoyed looks at the predicament that I just went through.
This is not the first time i have had poor service here. I stayed here last year. The fire alarm started beeping in my room at 1am due to poor battery issues. When i called the reception, they said there was nothing they can do about it till 6am cause that was when their maintenance person wouldn't be available. So yea, they expected me to try and get some sleep with the fire alarm beeping.
