Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location, Friendly Staff I come to TX monthly on business so location is very important. This hotel is easy to get in and out of and close to the plants I call on. Very friendly staff and comfortable room however the internet access is very poor if you need to conduct business from it. I recommend you request a room that doesn't have a flood light shining on your window if you like your room dark. November 18, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Billed for Room I Never Occupied Upon arrival and check-in (mid-afternoon on October 24th) and going to my assigned room, I found it filled with a strong odor (as if someone had been cooking pork or fish). I requested and was quickly assigned a new room. I mistakenly thought everything was fine. HOWEVER, upon reaching the newly assigned room, I noticed that it had no bathtub. Because I have a medical condition that requires me to soak a repaired tendon (from an old surgery), I returned to the front desk to explain the problem. The desk clerk, Jacob, informed me that ONLY TWO Rooms in the ENTIRE hotel have bathtubs, and that neither was available. So for me, staying at this hotel was no longer an option. HOWEVER, the desk clerk said that if I chose to leave and stay elsewhere, I would still be charged for the room because I had made my reservation in advance and it was "non-cancellable." I tried to explain that my issue had nothing to do with the advance reservation, and was based solely on my not being provided a room that could meet my needs. I asked to speak to the manager (Tracy). The desk clerk said the manager had left for the day and refused to call her, telling me that Ms. Jackson refuses to accept calls after her working hours. My luggage was never taken off the luggage cart, and I never stepped more than 3 feet into the hotel room. Since I could not speak to the hotel manager, I hand-wrote a letter to her, gave it to the desk clerk, and left to find a hotel with bathtubs. I found another hotel (HI Express) about 15 miles away that had very pleasant staff members -- and bathtubs. Those folks expressed surprise when I asked if their hotel rooms have bathtubs, and expressed amusement when I explained why I was asking such a question. I called and spoke by phone with the manager (Tracy) after she returned to work on October 27th, 2014. She confirmed that she doesn’t accept calls from her staff or from hotel guests after she leaves work. She also told me she had the authority to refund the charges, but refused to do so because it would "overrule the non-cancellation policy.” She could not seem to understand that my issue had nothing to do with the room reservation, and had everything to do with a bona fide need for a common amenity/furnishing that is typically found in hotel rooms. The following day I sent an email to the property/franchise owner (Raschle) but have never received a reply. Based on not getting a response from the franchise owner, I have now filed a report with my credit card company disputing the charges. Beware of this Holiday Inn site. October 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff - but issues with tax exemption Friendly staff - and the experience here is typcial of the HIE experience with one exception - the staff was a bit flummoxed by my request for tax exemption (as I was here on Federal Government business at the Federal Government hotel rate). Upon check in they were unsure how to process the tax exempt form, and said a manager would attend to it before my departure, but, upon check out, this was still unresolved and another staffer was also flummoxed and said they would still have to refer this to a manager. This is a not-uncommon type of hotel stay and some basic training should help to aquaint staff with this prcocess. It's not THAT complicated - other HIE's handle this with ease. Other than that it was a fine stay. I would recommend this hotel. October 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff Staff members present at the desk at time of check in (around 3 pm) were Tracy and Jacob. Both were very knowledgeable and professional but the woman, Traci was the one who exceeded her duties and made you feel like we were all family and was happy to work there at the hotel. We were there to catch a cruise out of Galveston the next day and all staff made it a very comfortable stop in our plans. Will definitely stay again with ya'll. October 17, 2014
