David greeted us with a smile as we came in and asked if there was anything else he could do to make our stay better! If your looking for a nice affordable place to stay, look no further! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Area but hotel fau pas We loved the area of this Holiday Inn. We were able to stroll outside and down into the "town area". The only complaint was that once we checked in and went to our room we found that we were walking into a gentleman's hotel room!! We were quite embarssed as was he!! Went back down and got another room. The lady said her records showed the room was unoccupied. My husband felt really bady for walking in on the man! (I suppose it could have been worse) I do feel there should have been some compensation & apology even if small. July 22, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Hotel needs updated I spent seven nights in The Villages for work. I asked to have my room changed twice during my stay because of the terrible musty, mildew smell. The last room I was given was at least tolerable. The outdoor pool was filthy with trash and cigarette butts on and near the tables and chairs. This hotel gets lots of outside foot traffic due to "timeshare" type sales pitches going on in the conference room constantly. I won't stay here again, Unless serious upgrades are made to this property. July 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Florida Trip 2013 Our stay started out with our room not being ready at 3:30 PM - even though check in was at 3PM. Room was O.K. - Floor tiles in the bathroom were loose and falling apart and there was a dehumidifier in our room that ran all night. The staff did not even empty it correctly the next morning and our carpet was all wet when we came back (our stay was for 2 nights). This hotel was located in a very upscale retirement community and the staff was very apologetic for any problems. For the price we paid it was sufficient enough for us to just have a bed, shower, and quick breakfast in the morning. If a few problems were resolved, we would stay there again in the future. Room 315 has issues - bathroom door wouldn't close and the door to the room would not close automatically as hotel room doors are required to do...when leaving the room had to pull hard to make sure door closed. Came back one evening and the door was open..... Room 321& 315 were not as clean as feel they should be. We were to have 2 rooms next to each other & I had called a couple weeks before arriving to confirm that...was told by hotel clerk "absolutely; when a person books 2 rooms we always give them 2 rooms side by side"... we didn't check in until after 2:30pm, and did not receive 2 rooms together...instead received rooms down the hall from each other. Was told some people stayed over & that was the best they could give us...also told I should have called directly to the hotel to make my reservation. I had made the reservation online through my priority club membership directly with the hotel... so much for priority club perks....disappointing that they didn't keep 2 rooms together available for us!! I must say the staff is very friendly though and wants to be helpful. They also provided us a rate discount since we were visiting family in The Villages. July 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing We stayed here in 2002. This time we stayed there for my dad's funeral. What a change since then. The hotel looks run down from what I remember. Our room was on the 3rd floor right next to the elevator. Thought that would be a problem but it was fine, not noisy at all. But you could smell the smoke and the dampness as soon as we walked into the room. We decided to stay in the room as we were only going to be there 2 days. I had reservations for one room for 2 nights and 2 rooms for one night (one for my sister). When my sister went to check into the second room they told her there was no room reserved under her name or my name. I waited at the front desk for at least 15 minutes for someone to appear to help me. We needed to use the computer in the lobby to make a CD for a presentation. There was no sound and the front desk person said there was nothing she could do. She was not going to make any effort to help us. On the other hand, the people who work the breakfast in the morning were very helpful and accommodating. The gym is should not be called a gym or fitness room or whatever it is called. There is a treadmill, a cross trainer and a bike. No free weights or other workout equipment. I would not stay at this hotel again. June 29, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great location The worst part about my experience was making the reservation and checkin. The website stated a pet fee of $45 per stay for 2 pets. When I called the hotel she said she didn't know that policy and she would accept $55 even though the site said it was a different rate. I also requested a higher floor. When I checked in she said that "people have allergies so that's not possible sorry" crudely. The location was fine but the staff needs some training. The treats in the lobby were a nice touch. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Strongest mildew odor I have ever experienced I stay in Hilton hotels very often. I have never had an experience like this one. The room was large and carpet and drapes appeared new - -- however, the mildew order was SO STRONG. I asked the front desk to have the housekeeping staff to address that - - seemingly no change. I bought aerosol can of room neutralizer and used the whole can - - burned 3 candles in the room and used a plug in air freshener. Two other strangers to me staying in other rooms indicated their rooms also had strong odors. June 21, 2013

We have been in the Villages since 1998 and have seen the building of Holiday Inn Express...first time anyone stayed there... It is a well worn facility..I had to dial up the phone, only to find that the clerk was the one visiting with a couple of young gentlemen in the drive thru...she saw us come in....she told us that she assisting other clients...sure...right..? Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by room was musty Unfortunately there was a huge LOUD portable dehumidifier in my room. I turned it off when I was not there but the room became very musty. The bed linens were yellowed with stains. The pool was surrounded by a bed of weeds. Overall this place was a bust. I would NOT stay there again. May 28, 2013

The mattress could have been softer and the air conditioner quieter. Why was there a dehumidifier in the room which was noisy and blocked easy access to the bathroom? The property looked as though it had recently had renovations since all the common areas including the room was clean and updated, (no worn furniture or carpets or dingy bath appliances...a big plus) Will certainly return here next time we visit the area. The hotel was clean and the room quiet. Everyone slept well. The front desk was very helpful. P by allowing us to come in a little earliers. My only suggestion would be to have a trash can in the back so when we pick up after the dog we can dispose of it not bringing it to the room. We recommend this hotel in the Villages. May 8, 2013

Traffic can be a problem during Spring Break. Need reservations for dinner. Motel is really nice but time to refurbish. April 8, 2013
