Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What's Not to Like Our first stay in over a year at a HIE and WOW, thinks have been much improved since our last stay. We were greeted at the front desk with complimentary water and a choice of a snack. Nice treat after a long day on the road. Front desk staff . Check-in totally a breeze. They were ready for us! Our room was nicely decorated, though the very modern chair/lounge in our room wasn't the most comfortable and only one person could sit. The lighting was pretty good in the room, and the lighting in the bathroom was excellent. The entire property was exceptionally clean and the breakfast was very good. LOVE those cinnamon rolls. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Stay Except for A/C In the king suite room that we stayed in, we had a lot of trouble with the Air Conditioning system. It’s an automated system that tries to help you with your room temperature control. The problem is, if your room is too cold and you adjust the thermostat up 2 degrees it turns the heater on. Throughout the day (and night) we were constantly adjusting the thermostat up and down to get our room comfortable. I think the biggest problem is that the system doesn’t have a “fan on” setting so we could keep the AC off and still have the fan turned on to keep the air moving. That being said, the whole staff was EXCELLENT. Jim, Renee, Jonathon and our housekeeper Sanolya were exceptional. Everyone was very pleasant, friendly and helpful and were a delight to be around! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Closest HIE to the UA My wife and I have stayed at the HIE on Grant several times because of the location near events at the University of Arizona. The staff has always been great--friendly and helpful, very willing to offer suggestions about restaurants and retail stores in the area. Breakfasts are about average. But, the property is an old and tired one. The public areas are okay, but the rooms really need refreshing. While the air conditioner worked on this visit, many of the louvers were broken (many little details like that), and the beds aren't quite up to our expectations for comfort. You can walk to the IHOP or the QT, but you have to go through a not-so-pedestrian-friendly parking lot. We will probably be back because of the location, but it would be nice if they put some effort and money into upgrading the rooms. April 20, 2016

They make a point of addressing all needs and desires immediately, with a smile and kind words. The hotel is clean and comfortable.
