This is a beautiful property!! Room was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was well stocked---the cinnamon rolls as always were to die for!! The afternoon cookies were awesome (especially the white chocolate macadamia nut) and the reception desk people reminded me both days that the cookies were available. The computers in the business center were working properly and the printer was stocked with paper for printing. We will definitely be using this hotel again during the next 4 years while my son is at UA.
I was disappointment at check in as I was NEVER identified or called by my name nor was I ever identified and thanked for being a priority rewards customer which has always been the norm at HIEX properties in the past. When I checked out the clerk acted a little annoyed that I asked for a check out print out when normally the print outs are usually placed under my room door before I check out.

On May 17, 2013, I checked out of the hotel, and I went out to load my car and go to work. Someone had busted in my driver's side front car window. There were beer bottles busted around the back of my car and shars of broken beer bottle on the back and top of my car. I talked with the staff, and the clerk called the police for me. She stood at the desk and described my car to the dispatcher on the phone, as I had parked my car in front of the front doors of the hotel. A young man came out and told me that the security cameras had reset at midnight the night before and no one had turned them back on so there was no security footage of the damage being done. I was told by the staff that someone probably threw a beer bottle from the highway and busted my window. That is not possible. It was busted between cars, and there were no pieces of bottle inside my car, only window glass, which was EVERYWHERE in my car. All the beer bottles were at the rear of my car. One of the clerks tried to help me get as much glass out of my seat as he could, which was nice. The maintenance man, who I later found out was the GM's husband, came out and swept up the glass around the car. I called on my way home, (I had to miss work and pay that day because I had to go get my car fixed before rain moved in# and left a message for the GM to call me. Liz called me back as I was dropping the car off to be fixed. She told me that the security cameras that were turned off wouldn't have caught the crime anyway, because they don't have security cameras for the parking lot. It would cost too much money, and it would overload their system. She also told me that it was not their responsibility to pay for my car to be fixed, because it was the same as taking the risk of parking your car at the mall. I explained to her that I, as a guest, expect a much higher level of security from a hotel, as I am in THEIR parking lot, parked in front of the FRONT doors, and it is their responsiblity to make sure their guests feel secure leaving their vehicle(s) in their parking lot overnight while they slept. There is an unspoken understanding that the hotel will take care of things, security-wise, while we are guests in the hotel. I should hope there would be much better security than the mall provides. Obviously, the mall has security patrol, so it has BETTER security than this hotel. It has been over a week since this happened, and even after the GM told me that she would talk to her husband and get back to me, as well as got my mailing address, I have heard NOT ONE WORD from her. I want to be reimbursed for the $200 repair that had to be done on my car, because the overnight staff allowed someone to obviously have a party on my vehicle during the night!

I stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Tuscaloosa when I work in that area. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are always pleasant and accommodating and the breakfast is great!

This is a very nice facility with a great staff. Clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, and a very nice breakfast. A+ to the Tuscaloosa staff.

This location was not the best of the Holiday Inn Express family in terms of service, but still a very good place to stay. When I checked in the two front desk clerks ignored me and then the lady just looked at me when I told her I needed to check in. I was not recognized as a Gold member like I usually am. I used the front desk clerks once more during my stay and again I felt as if I was bothering them. The rooms while small were clean and comfortable. The one nice feature at this hotel was the light above the shower in the bathroom. This has been my complaint in several other hotels. The pillows needed to be replaced. The breakfast was very good. Loved the breakfast and business area of the hotel. Service was my main reasoning for the average rating. I would recommend this location to others.
