Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Roaches We weren't there for more than a few minutes when we flipped on the light to the bathroom and a roach scattered. He ran into the room and behind a picture. I called down to the front desk and told the receptionist. She said she wasn't aware of any other complaints of roaches during her employment. I told her she could come and see for herself as it was behind the picture on the wall and still there. (You could see it from in between) She came up and couldn't get the picture from off of the wall. We were moved to another room. Because I'm sure that the roaches were only confined to that other room. hahaha We slept with the light on. Roaches only come out when it's dark right? Let me tell you not a good nights sleep. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Location is awesome We spent the night between two shopping days at Tanger Outlet Mall. The hotel was right across the parking lot from the stores. Great restaurants close. The service and cleanliness were outstanding. The pool was great for the kids and the hot tub was a great way to relax after a day of shopping. Overall, an outstanding experience. We are planning next year's shopping weekend already and it will include staying at the Holiday Inn Express. November 12, 2013

We were quoted a rate but when we got to the hotel we were told unless we called the facility directly, the rate was higher. This is not fair. The website and the hotel should offer the same rate. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unfortunate stay My elderly parents and I stayed at this hotel the same night that most of the rooms were filled with parents and kids participating in a soccer tournament 30 miles away. The behavior of the parents and kids was appalling. The parents made no effort to control the kids yelling and running up and down the halls. Guests filled the breakfast room to watch a ball game which would have been fine had they not been yelling at the top of their lungs. After 2 hours I asked the desk clerk what her plan was to deal with the mayhem. She looked lost. App 15 minutes later there was instant quiet. Another guest said the authorities had been called. I know these situations happen but the hotel needs a plan before things get out of control. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the problems. The hotel is fairly new and the rooms are nice. However, the building is cheaply constructed. I could hear road noise all night, doors opening and shutting, showers running and toliets flushing. A plan to deal with rowdy guests is doable. Fixing this hotel probably is not. October 16, 2013

The hotel was full of young girls there for a soccer tournament and were quite noisy in the dining area, but that could be expected and they were not out of line. We were on the third floor and experienced no loud noise. We had a very relaxing stay. October 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Some issues As a priority club member, compared to other places I have been I would not recommend this location. The floor in the entry to the room was sticky. The breakfast did not offer any fresh fruit at all. We were there at about 8:15 and the person said they were all out. Also no refrigerator in room. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by booked a non smoking room but was obviously smoked in I booked my non smoking room 9 months in advance. Upon arrival I was put in a room which was clearly smoked in previously. As I exited the elevator I could smell a strong smoke odor. I opened my non smoking room and was greeted with a heavy smoke odor. I left the room to head back to the reception desk to let them know of the situation. After several attempts of explaining to the receptionist the room as unacceptable, I was given a new room. I am not happy that I had to persist to get the receptionist to give me a new room. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Service was not the best We asked the front desk if we could use the conference room and was told no, that we could use the dining room for our team meeting. As we came back from our game, their was a large group in the dining area, so we would not fit our party of 25 in the dining area. We looked into the dark empty conference room and asked again if we could use the room again they said no, without a reason. We stayed for two nights. I left with my team to the field at 11am for a game. My room was never made up, no fresh towels or bathroom amenities. The room next to me had someone in it the night before, but I take it the maids didn't clean that room either since the bathroom fan was left on all day and night, which was hard to sleep listening to it. Our room didn't have a fridge in it either. I was not recognized as a platinum member when checking in, which is small potatoes, but I still like the treatment. Its a clean hotel but I will not be back to this one. September 5, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by no service Stayed 2 nights. After the first night, we left the room at 1030am and took the sign off the door. The cleaning lady saw us do this. When we returned to our room at 4:30pm, no cleaning had been done. I called the front desk. She apologized, said she would tell the GM and that if we needed clean towels, "we could come downstairs to the front desk to get them". No offer of bringing them to our room! Also, there was a very distinct smell of cat urine in the hallway. I reported it to the manager and said "we don't get very many cats here" and she would talk to maintenance! We have stayed here many times before without problems, but this time was the exception. Our bill was adjusted somewhat, but I don't feel we should have had to pay at all since the room was not touched by cleaning service. August 26, 2013

The hotel is located within walking distance of the outlet mall. While next to a highway, I never hear the traffic. Pool and hot tub always warm and clean. Breakfast is great, even my husband loves the spread. Great value and a place I will return to again. August 21, 2013

Quiet location and great to shop at the outlet mall. Will plan on staying here again when visiting the area. Staff very friendly and efficient. July 24, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't clean room for our 2nd night We stayed 2 nights,had ajoining rooms. On our 2nd day only 1 of our rooms got cleaned, when we said something to the desk they just gave us more towels. When we checked out and said something they said one of the deadbolts was locked. But the doors between the rooms were open when we left and completely shut when we got back to our room. It was very disappointing that nothing was done or no sorry was said. Wasn't trying to get a free night just an so sorry this happened would have been nice. They made us feel like it was our fault but didnt have any problem going thru 1 room into another to shut doors. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by next to highway My room faced i-57 a busy highway. you could hear trucks going bye in the night. if you stay here request a room that doesn't face the highway. sink water pressure not very good. shower was great. there breakfast was wonderful. for a free hotel breakfast this was the best. the front desk young woman was very friiendly and tried to be helpful. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kind and helpful staff I truly appreciated the kind words and assistant that Donna, the evening front desk staff member gave me on a road trip last week. It was late in the evening and raining so hard. I made it to my destination of Arcola but soon realized there was no Holiday Inn Express in Arcola. Apparently, I was confused. I called the phone # I had and I talked with Donna. She informed me that I had passed the motel by 10 miles. I turned around and start heading back and I called Donna again to verify that they did have my reservation. She had it right in front of her. She was awaiting my arrival. It was comforting to arrive and to be taken care of by the staff. I felt safe. This experience was so welcoming that once I continued on my way for the day down state, upon turning around to head back home, I decided to stop at Tuscola again for the evening. Which was a wise move because the storms were incredible that evening. Again I felt safe. Thank you June 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay -Always Accomodating I have stayed at this hotel many times in the last year. The staff has been very attentive and welcomes me back by name each visit. If I have had an issue (and have only had to make two requests in 11 visits) the staff has attended to it immediately. The rooms are very clean and the housekeeping staff is very helpful. My only suggestion is with the breakfast; there is not a lot of variety if you are staying for more than one day, it does get a bit monotonous, also being diabetic it would be nice if there were some lower sugar and low-carb options, it would be nice if there was different fruit options, bananas every day gets boring. But I did appreciate the fridge in the room (in the king bedroom), so I can purchase my own groceries. June 7, 2013

Holiday has always maintained a high level of customer service, cleanliness and professionalism. This stay was no different. At a time when many businesses have cut corners and lowered their standards Holiday stands out as a "class-act". Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No Frig or Microwave My husband and I stay quite often at the Holiday Inn Express. This is the first one that didn't have a frig and micro in the room. When I asked why, was told that they only came in the rooms with king size beds. Also, being a rewards member we usually get a little gift when we check in. Meaning water, pretzels, etc. None here. Yet, the price was the same as the night before when we had the gift, frig and micro. April 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice Room was very clean except for the shower head. The queen beds were huge! Everything in the room and the public parts of the hotel seemed in great condition/new. The heating/cooling worked great and was quiet. We were right off the interstate and didn't hear a thing. In fact there was a noisy bunch in the lobby and we didn't hear them either. Couldn't hear other tv's or anything. It was GREAT! I've stayed in more expensive hotels before that you could hear your neighbors this location wasn't like that at all. I liked that the pillows were marked soft and firm. The only issue I had was that one of the beds was very soft, I didn't realize this till the next morning since there were 3 of us I didn't bother checking the other bed. This caused me to have a rough nights sleep. Didn't know if this was normal that one was firm and the other soft. March 25, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by misinformed about animals on property We stay at Holiday Inns quite often and always ask about pet policy as I have an allergy to pet dander. Upon check in, we asked and were told by the desk clerk on duty that animals are allowed but only on the back end of the 1st floor and since we were booked on the 3rd floor, there would be no encounter. Wrong. Upon coming down for breakfast on the 2nd morning of our stay, a man left the room 2 doors from us with 2 dogs and got on the elevator which we declined to take due to my allergy. Upon checking with the then on duty desk clerk, we were told there were no restrictions as to where pets were allowed. Manager was not there so I called manager after we arrived back home and all I got was, "I'm sorry". I am sorry too because I won't stay at this Holiday Inn again and because of the attitude, I won't recommend it either. I was very disappointed in the response by the manager. It seems the animals take precedent over the humans. March 17, 2013
