Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap Rate, Great Service Lacks Extras Being that it is a holiday inn express the hotel was clean, the front desk manager was very nice and welcoming.. There was also a nice pool and a decent gym area. Lacked much for eating options outside of breakfest and no bar area to relax. The room was average, it was clean, but the toilet would randomly run at all hours of the night. If you walked anywhere in the vacinity of the entertainment center the tv would go blank for about a minute. Again a great rate, clean room and the one staff member I saw was very friendly. However, I do not think I will be staying at an express in the near future. March 18, 2013

I have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express on several occasions and always return because of the quality of the rooms and staff. Over the holidays I stayed for several days and for the first time was dissatisfied with one aspect of my stay. One of two days that I had breakfast, there were few choices as food was not available and there seemed to be no one replacing empty trays of eggs, etc. Breakfast ended up being very limited because of the lack of food and service. While this will not keep me from staying there again, I felt there was no one who was paying attention to the situation or at least acknowledge there was a problem. That would have gone a long way to have made the situation better. This is a quality place and problems do happen, but this was unacceptable. January 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by New and comfortable, but poor quality breakfast. Nice, newer facility with nice room and comfortable beds. However, the breakfast was not very good. The eggs had been allowed to dry out, and the bacon was swimming in a pool of grease. I couldn't find anyone in the dining area to report the problem to. Had to get on the road and didn't report problems to the front desk. January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Hotel This hotel had a very nice big room and bathroom that gave us the feeling of home. The hotel is located close to I-80 & I-35 and is easy to get to. Des Moines had a foot of snow the day before we arrived. I enjoyed relaxing in the whirlpool and pool after driving the last 50 miles on ice and snowpacked roads. I would highly recommend this hotel. However, I was disappointed by the service provided by the front desk, as compared to the service I've received at the many other Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Expresses I've frequented elsewhere. I didn't receive Priority Club Member recognition, and there were a couple cases of obvious lack of communication between the front desk and the rest of the hotel staff. January 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Example of what a Holiday Inn Express can be This has been the best Holiday Inn Express we have visited. Repeated stays and quality has been consistent. It's a newer hotel, so that helps, but the staff are definatley trying to keep it looking that way. Friendly, quiet (even considering you are right off I-80), and great location. That said, your pool is FREEZING! My kids lips turned blue after only 10 minutes in it. Also docked a point on the "Knowledgeable Staff" as we requested a quiet room away from elevators and ice machines and they put us one room down from both. Had to change rooms, either the staff aren't aware of where the rooms are in the hotel, or they thought they were being funny but when you are traveling with your family and have to move all their stuff it is a hassle. We also had to get 3 different room keys before they worked consistently. Would work once to unlock the door and then stop. With younger kids this could have been an issue with them being potentially locked in the room without us. January 2, 2013

Friendly help, nice rooms and very quiet even though right by the freeway. Good food and shopping in the area. I will be back again. December 12, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good front desk response My family an I checked in on Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. We were visiting relatives that evening and Thanksgiving day. We have stayed before and have had no problems other that Breakfast area gets very busy and the staff has a time keeping up. On this trip the intitial check in and room (third floor and next to ice machine) provided were fine. No real complaint until about 9:30 PM. We had come back from dinner earlier and had settled in for a nice quiet night. All of a sudden the room directly above us had what sounded like a herd of elephants trampliing back and forth and yelling loud talk. I believe there were two families sharing ajoining rooms and they were just letting the kids go wild. I am a fairly tolerant person but when it did not stop after about 15 minutes I made a call to the front desk. The clerk on duty apoogised for the disturbance and assured me he would call the room and ask them to stop the commotion. I'm not sure what he told them but they did indeed stop after a short time and we finally got some piece and quiet. I would definately suggest that aneone staying here stay on the fourthe floor if possible. Thank you to the clerk who corrected this situation. November 28, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst service at a Holiday Inn, Ever! I signed up for priority club rewards in July and since then I have stayed in about 45 to 50 different Holiday Inn Hotels. This hotel has, by far, the WORST service ever! The Hotel is relatively new, clean and looks great, however the staff is unfriendly and apparently can not work a telephone! I had an issue with my stay over a month ago, since then I have made several phone calls to the hotel and also to Priority Club customer service. I was even promised extra bonus points from the GM and still nothing! If you call the hotel, the staff will admit that they have no good way to relay a message! Really?!? The TV in the rooms worked half of the time. Breakfast in the morning, Terrible! Holiday Inn usually has pretty good breakfast, not so much at this location. I stayed 3 nights, thought that maybe they had an off day...nope, unless they had 3 off days! If you are looking for a place in the Des Moines area I would NEVER pick this one again! Rooms here are very nice and the common area and dining room were beautiful. Breakfast did not have as much on the bar as others we have stayed at but what they had was very good. The courteous check-in staff offered to have some breakfast selections available for an early departure the next morning prior to the set hours. This newer hotel is in outstanding condition, and the rooms were well-kept, clean, and comfortable. I will definitely return to this Des Moines area easy-off/on I-80 access hotel! October 29, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No TV I have stayed at this property twice and both times they have had to reprogram my TV multiple times because the TV would only work on about 1/2 the channels and unfortunately, the ones that did not work are mostly the ones I like. As a platinum priority club member, all I recieve is a bottle of water and a bag of chex mix. Worse than the "snack" in coach on an airplane. October 27, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great facility....poor TV This is a very nice hotel as far as clean, new rooms and facilities. In a recent stay, I had to turn the thermostat to 81 to keep it comfortable. Also, the non HD TV did not get service for many of the channels. The channel listing was also completely wrong, so it was a frustating stay with these conditions. October 24, 2012

Breakfast choices were just like the other Holiday Inn Express locations -- eggs, gravy, biscuits, etc. (A menu upgrade would be a welcome change since I stay in this chain multiple times throughout the year and am getting tired of the same 'ol breakfast!). This location did not offer any perks for Priority Club members this past experience --- they have in the past! October 12, 2012
