We stayed the night after a fun night at Dave & Buster's (right behind the hotel). The beds are very comfortable, the staff was friendly, breakfast was average. Besides a noisy kid or 2 running and jumping at 7am in the room above us, we had a nice stay.

We live in Southfield but wanted to get away for the weekend with the kids. We chose the Utica location because it has a lot of fun activities to do with the kids and is located in the same parking lot as Dave and Busters and right up the street from CJ Barrymore's. The front desk clerk was so nice and seemed to be juggling many hats but handled her job very well! Our suite was very clean, spacious and comfy. Our room keys offered $10 in free tokens at Dave and Busters when we purchased $10 worth of tickets so that was an unexpected bonus. The pool area was not that big, but was big enough for all of the children that wanted to play. The pool towels kept running low, but was quickly replaced when you requested them. Breakfast had a nice selection of hot and cold food. The only downfall was that the pancake maker kept jamming up and the bacon wasn't as done as I would prefer, but there were other options for me to choose from.

Staff are Customer driven..and extremely sensitive to ones needs
From the time of booking..arrival..and during our stay..nd check out
I beleive her name was Hilary...one of the gals responsible for cleaning the room...she was very helpful
And should mention the young man who was on duty..when we arrived and thye following day,,, he is a gem

I stayed at this location for 5 days last week....the service was incredible....I had not confirmed somehow and my reservation was not listed the night before we left (my error) but the person at registration was incredible....she was able to secure a room and remembered me when I checked in....then each time I entered or left she wished me a good day and called me by name! Once she even commented on my outfit! I believe her name was Carrie Anne or Carrie Lynn.....anyway it was quiet, comfy beds, large room, the pool and exercise areas were clean and offered a wonderful get away and the breakfast was very good with lots of choice!
I would definitely stay here again with no worries!

I noticed a lot of details about this location that made it lacking overall. This is the impression that stuck with me. Here is what I remember:
-Window shades were assembled incorrectly causing them to not close entirely.
-The lock on the bathroom door did not latch closed.
-the tile work at the base of the wall in front of the was not square and falling apart.
-the key scanner to enter the pool from the back of the building did not work.
-the AC while on "low" or "high" did not run continuously.
-the cover over the controls for the AC unit was not attached and sat loosely on top of the controls.
I feel like the management at this location or it's maintenance crew is not getting their job done.

This was a well kept, comfortable hotel well situated for my business trips to the area. The location provided shopping and restaurant options. The staff was polite and helpful and acknowledged as a PC member. I will be staying here again soon.

It is not a fancy hotel and eventhough rooms are clean and comfy. Everynight I slept like a baby, no noises or disturbances the accomodations are just fine. Breakfast wasn't the best but was fair enough. There are many places nearby to eat and everything you need is no farther than 1 mile (gas, coffe, supermarket, hardware store, restaurants, bars, etc). Great place to stay.

The hotel was great. Great location for my customers meetings. However the way the Hotel bills is quite different than other Holiday Inn proprties. They bill for each night, then give you a final bill for both nights. However they leave the indiviual charges on until the credit card clears. Thus this makes it quite difficult for business travelers to rectife their expense report for the week. I seriously doubt I will stay there again do to this billing issue.

I accidentally left my Day Timer in my room when I left the hotel. This item is CRITICAL to me as it has all my appointments, meetings, phone numbers and action items. I stayed on the 28th at this hotel. On March 2nd I called to see if it was there and was told it was found and that it would be mailed to me. I gave my credit card number to cover the expense of the shipment. I have been looking for it to arrive all week I just called (March 8th) to follow up and the front desk (not the same person, the original was a male) said it was "sitting on the counter, with all your information on it, but no one has taken time to box it up and send it." (I JUST LOVE KNOWING MY AM EX CARD HAS BEEN OUT IN THE OPEN). She would box it up today and it should be on its way by Monday (3/11).
This is NOT the type of service I have come to expect from Holiday Inn (gold card memeber) and I am extremely dissappointed with the follow through on a item that is SO important to me.

Get the Jacuzzi room if you dont have the kids. Its worth it. Nice big bed, fireplace, everything you need for a weekend stay. close to bars n shopping. Very clean.

heater was very noisy had to shut off to sleep. no sound barrier between walls could hear all the noise and talking from hall. slamming of doors. due to the hydro going on and off the clock flashed all night and microwave kept beeping almost all night till around 3am when found out what it was and unplugged it

Maintenance is deferred, and the elevator a sloppy mess in winter.
Breakfast staff is great, however.

Usually have to ask staff for my automatic room upgrade, One out of three stays will I have the "Goodie" bag offered or in the room. I stay here quite often..great location, great value. Will continue my stays only here when in the area.

We had 2 reservations for this past week at this Hotel. The first 3 night were great no complaints. The last night Friday was horrible. They had put a family with kids (not sure how many kids) up on the floor above us. Finally at 10:30pm my husband called down to the desk to compalin about all the running,,,,,jumping.....stomping going on above us. About 45 minutes later it stopped but we did not get the sleep we paid for. We were here becasue our Daughter was admitted into the hospital with congestive heart failure. So we needed our sleep. I guess it would of been better if we had just stayed at the hospital with her and slept in a chair. We both feel our reward points for that last night be returned to us. Manager was suppose to call me but has not.
