Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bigbadbob Finally a good hotel in Utica
This was my third stay at this hotel since it opened in Nov 2012.
I can only give praise to everything that has to do with this inn.I have been coming to Utica to visit my daughter and have always had to settle for what was around here. Now a hotel has opened that I really enjoying staying at.Your day starts off so great when you come in for breakfast. The dining room attendant Karen is so cheerful and happy that it rubs off on you and really starts your day off right. What she has prepared for your enjoyment is so good and it is much better than coffee and donuts that you would get free somewhere else. The best part is that this wonderful breakfast is free.
Being new the hotel is spotless and is kept that way by housekeeping services.
I look forward to my return in a few months.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by POCOBO Great for the most part
The hotel is beautifully decorated, clean, and well maintained. Most of the staff was reasonably friendly, too.
At check-in, I was disappointed that there was no recognition for priorty club members as we have experienced at other Holiday Inn Express hotels. There was some slight confusion with the block of rooms I had booked, but the manager took care of it within a few minutes.
Even though we could connect to wifi, it was beyond slow.
The pool water did not seem to be heated and I do believe my core body temperature dropped about 15 degrees. Luckily, there was free hot chocolate!
The worst part of our stay was that a large group of teenagers checked in and seemed to over take the hotel. They were quite loud and disprectful. In the pool, they had no regard for the rules or that our young children were in there. Same held true at breakfast the following morning.
This hotel is close to the thru way and offers restaurants within walking distance.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CWE75 Nice, new, and comfortable
I enjoyed my recent stay at this new hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room looked brand new and clean, and the Internet signal was strong. My only complaint would be that the hotel is somewhat noisy. The walls do not seem to be very well sound insulated. However, I would recommend this hotel and I will stay there again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DLG1960 New and quite nice
We stayed 3 nights in a double queen room while visiting our daughter at a local college. This hotel appears to be brand new; our room and the common areas were very clean and unblemished. The staff was VERY nice and bent over backwards to be helpful. Breakfast was good, and the workers there were always friendly as can be. Nothing fancy but a very good, safe, clean place to stay.
One thing to note: Our room was on the 2nd floor over the pool and a bunch of kids were swimming, so it got VERY loud. I don't think the walls/floors are very thick.

We came to the Utica area this past President’s Day weekend from Baltimore to enjoy some winter sports with my (3) year old son.
It was so nice to receive a warm welcome from the Front Desk at 2A after an anticipated six hour drive which turned into an eight hour drive due to snow in NE Pennsylvania. He quickly checked us in and even warmed up a few cinnamon buns for a late night snack.
Our room was exceptionally clean and the beds very comfortable. We had a suite with (2) beds which was more than enough space for (3) people. It was nice to have a microwave and refrigerator in our room as a grocery store is less than a mile away. The shower consistently had hot water and a great flow. The heating system was in fine working order. My son enjoyed the pool though I thought the water to be a bit cool. The workout facilities had (3) treadmills and an elliptical machine.
Breakfast had a variety of options to choose from (eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, other cereal, pastries and bagels) and was tasty. It would have been nice to have some fresh fruit such as bananas, oranges and apples. The breakfast staff, were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our morning conversations with them.
The noise level was our only major criticism, but this has more to do with the construction of the hotel and the fact that family in the room next to ours had out of control infants/toddlers. We are fairly tolerant of little kids, given we have one of our own, but this was over the top with yelling and cursing. The thin walls didn’t help the situation. The Front Desk did offer to move us, but we didn’t feel like packing up our stuff on our final night.
The location was convenient to all of our planned activities.
Overall, the place had the feel of a bed and breakfast despite being a major chain hotel. We definitely recommend this hotel for anyone coming to cross country ski in the area.
