This hotel has been home from home for more than a year. It is simple and very handily placed close to the M6. It is simple but good at what it does. I've not had cause to complain in all that time!

What a great place to stay, helpful staff and comfortable rooms.
Breakfast although not a large selction,there was enough to chose from and it was very nice.Will definately recommend it.

Cannot fault the hotel for comfort and cleanliness, we had one out of three nights in which a group of guests were being a nuisance and noisy for all the other guests. The staff/security dealt with this problem ASAP and we had no more disturbance. We have stayed here for the last four years and hope to return in the future.
Great staff through out, very friendly and helpful, excellent.

I walked into the lobby desk, the receptionist, never raises the head, after a minute's wait she mumbled, "what can I do for you", Then I say so .. so.. and I get the room key. getting into the room. You need a real hard push to open the door. I get two beds, instead of the one bed room asked, there is no ironing board too, old tv, some extremely low priced tea/coffe packets. The bed looked like an old one.
I call up the receptionist for the above things and she says we do not have a a single bed room, ironing stuff, you come to the reception, and for internet also, you come to reception and I will tell you, I get there and I got all these. But cannot login at the room for internet, but this time another person at the desk helped and the person even came to the room to fix it.
The quality of the soap etc. are poor. Otherwise stay is OK. If you do not get anywhere else then probably this hotel is an option

Third year in a row that we've stayed here, as it's a good halfway stopover to the Lake District and it's great value because we book in advance. First time we stayed we were kept awake by some drunken argument outside, which is not the fault of the hotel. However, the last two years we've asked for rooms at the back of the hotel to avoid any potential noise from people and have been accommodated. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast choice is varied - cereals, toast, croissants, fruit, cheese, beans, scrambled eggs and sausages.
Haven't had an evening meal there as yet because it's not been needed.
We go to the lakes each year so we will be back.

Often stay at H. Inn and never have any problems with the service and facilities.....overall very happy and would definately recommend :)

I arrived at approximately 11am and asked the staff if it possible for me to check in. I was advised that none of the rooms were clean and thereofre i would need to come back.
During the time i made the booking i made a specific request to check in early and the staff said it shouldn't be a probelm.
My husband and i then came back at 1pm to check in - the lady at the front desk Tracey, was extremely rude. She advised check-in for priority members was at 2pm and normal check in was at 4pm. You could search my records and see i have stayed in many many holiday inn and holiday inn express hotels over the years and i have never heard or read anything like this before. She was extremely rude when i questioned the logic behind this, as i hadn't seen anything on the website nor in my email confirmation. At which point she stormed off and leaving me hanging. Tracey then came back and started flicking through the records, for 10mins we were unaware of what was happening, by this time it was 1:30.
Another member of staff came to deal with us, and Tracye started talking to them about our check-in and that it was possible, again leaving us hanging and humiliated. This then took another 10 mins at which point my husband was extremely annoyed and frustrated, never in our experience have we seen anything like this before. We then asked to speak to the manager and were finally able to check in.
The attitude, rudeness and sheer disgusting behaviour of your staff was outrageous and unacceptable. For a hotel with such a prominent presence i am shocked at the lack of customer service displayed. Subsequently, my husband has also written an email to Head Office.
If in doubt, i am sure everything was recorded on the cameras you have in your hotel.
Unfortunately, we will not be staying at another Holiday Inn or Express again due to the experience. For staff that has no values and cannot put their customers first or treat them with respect, we have no room for giving them our business.
