Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brief stay but good We were spending a day at Alton Towers, about an hour from this hotel, we arrived at 9.30 at night, but they were ready for us and were welcoming. Our room was very good. The only problem seemed to be the air con - we couldn't alter the fan speed or the temperature - if it was on, it was fast and cold! The kettle didn't work unless you held it down on the power plug - unusual for a Holiday Inn express. Apart from these slight gripes everything was very good and breakfast service, food and area was excellent. September 24, 2014

Rooms lovely and children's bed all made up for them when we arrived. Nothing wS too much trouble from the staff! Breakfast lovely as always. Hotel nice and handy for our day trips to The Black Country museum & RAF Cosfird. Can't wait to return as family lives close by! September 4, 2014

However, we were a family of 4 and the room was not really large enough to fit us all in with any comfort (that is based on spending the previous night in a family room in the Manchester Airport Holiday Inn Express which felt more spacious)....... And how much would it cost to update the TVs to flat screen with at least freeview?!!! September 3, 2014

When I wanted my family to join me for the first night, it wasn't a problem. When they wanted to bring the dog, it wasn't a problem. When I needed an iron unexpectly, it wasn't a problem. Efficiently checked in as a platinum member to suitable room away from others so we didn't have to shush the children too much. Thank you. August 28, 2014

The breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs, The staff even washed my daughters baby bottles and cup. There was limited baby high chairs at the hotel during breakfast time but as soon as one came available the very nice lady came and dropped one off to our table and she was very polite. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay I was very late checking in which did not cause any problems. The breakfast was limited which I expected with the cost. I had some noise from an adjacent room with all the relatives staying for a local wedding but it soon went quiet. The bed was almost comfortable and I did manage a reasonable sleep. I called at the bar each evening for a drink which seemed rather expensive but I suppose they have to make money somewhere given the good prices for the rooms. I had to stay over an extra night and was booked in with no fuss, just re zapped the door key and away. The final account was correct. All the staff I came into contact with were excellent. I would recommend a stay here August 12, 2014

My biggest 'ask' is always a clean and comfortable room for a good night's sleep - 10/10 for everything. A big plus - free parking and there is always a space. Can see why there is a lot of incentive selling to get you to stay here ie: attractive 5000 IHG bonus points deal etc. Great location but rather dated re: its' comparison to other HI Express hotels ie: rooms small... TV's old fashioned, with poor picture reception, & limited channel choice... décor overall... small breakfast serving area... the general feeling here. Staff OK but not very attentive on Check-Out - more interested in updating records on computer with credit card number??? Why, as already advised when booked & I am a Gold Plus member??? Plenty of other choices available nearby with other IHG hotels under different franchises. This HI Express is behind the times re: others... so go elsewhere until it updates itself in many areas of its' offering; bonus points at an attractive rate only go so far. July 13, 2014
