Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and confortable Stayed at this hotel for two consecutive weeks. Breakfast was good. The workout room is sufficient to maintain my routine. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a choice of firm and soft pillows. Everything is well maintained and cleaned daily. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside is the location and a lack of nice restaurants, however a short drive of 3+ miles can put you in the middle of Chinatown, or at Union Station where restaurants abound. I will absolutely stay there again when returning to Washington, DC either for business or personal stays. October 15, 2013

Additionally, my King Suite was very clean, spacey, and comfortable. The major drawback to this Holiday Inn location is the traffic that can be heard at night while sleeping. October 13, 2013

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time using the shuttle to get downtown and back, relaxing in the pool, and sleeping well in the comfortable suite. Only downside of our trip was some of the other hotel guests, however the hotel staff did their best to address the issue. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great trip to D.C. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Grade "A" for a Wonderful Stay This hotel was not close to the hub of tourist activities, so they offered a shuttle service to Union Station regularly. We loved our room with 2 TVs, microwave oven, bar fridge, dining table for 2 , a love seat, and a king size bed. Of course, they offered complimentary breakfast and free WIFI which are services my husband and I value very much. The room was clean and contemporary. We are sold on Holiday Inn Express for our next hotel booking! October 7, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor receptionist and miscommunication I have been visiting DC for business purpose and this was the third time that I stayed here. For the first time, the staff/receptionist was not fully aware of the corporate discounts and it took her long to confirm thereby making me wait at the desk. That experience was not good. Second time there was a lady at the front desk and God knows what she was doing. She did not respond me immediately even though I was the only one there to check in. I couldn’t see any smile on her face throughout checking process. Third time they thought that I am checking out one day before inspite of explicitly telling them that I will be checking out on so and so date. When I returned from work to enter my room, the door was locked and my card couldn’t be read. I rushed to the reception, and they apologized for their mistake. I was angry. October 6, 2013

Jose, who took my reservation, ask how she could make our stay more pleasant and I ask her to waive the $15.00 parking fee and she made sure that it happened. I checked in with my friend, we ask to spin the wheel and we allowed free snacks for the room. We checked in early, which was a great treat because it was his birthday without any problems. We ask for extra towels once we got to the room again no issues. We checked out at 12:00 Noon without housekeeping banging on the door. It was just a wonderful stay! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Slow check-in. Cleaning chemical odor in room. Another guest was in the process of checking in when I arrived. There was also a client trying to buy soft drinks from the concession. The clerk appeared to be having difficulty processing payment for these items and so there was considerable delay. When we entered our room there was a very strong odor of some type of what I would assume is a cleaning solution. I woke up several times during the night and again smelled that strong odor. Didn't see much of the surrounding area as I was picked up, but I did see a few gas stations and KFC/Taco Bell, Checkers, 7 eleven across the street so no worries on finding something to eat late night. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great, but before you book... Be aware that the shuttle service times returning to the hotel from Union Station aren't really convenient, with only 2 scheduled and after 6 pm. Also, the hotel shuts off the parking lot entrance/exit to Bladensburg road after dark, so be aware that if you wish to drive into DC, you will have to drive almost a mile in the opposite direction on New York Ave to turn around and then drive into DC: A waste of gas, time, and convenience. Also, if I recall correctly, there are no left turns at the corner of Bladensburg road onto New York Avenue to go into DC either. Aside from these annoyances, the hotel & staff itself are very nice. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Can't Say enough about our great stay!! We stayed at HIE, DC from 9/03/13-9/06/13. THE KIDS ENJOYED THE HOTEL AS MUCH AS THE SITES WE VISITED!! We had a minor problem with our original room [myself and 2 kids] which i mentioned in passing to the front desk associate, and before I knew it, WE WERE UPGRADED TO A LUXURY SUITE AT NO CHARGE!! We had originally only expected to stay until 9/05 but there was so much to do, we added an extra day/night which was no problem with the staff. They were even able to give me the AAA discount rate I had got for on the 1st reservation. The Wi-Fi works great, the complimentary breakfast buffet had numerous selections with slightly different offerings each day...also, the dining staff were very attentive and kept the area neat as a pin. The pool and hot-tub were relaxing and we were happy to discover it was open until 11PM so we could relax after long days of walking around the city. Front Desk Associates were VERY knowlegeable about the workings of DC, one even tracked me down in the parking lot to provide an easier route than another Associate had just given me! My one wish was that the shuttle made trips to the attractions; being from out of town, I was not familiar with the "Metro" and the map appeared a little overwhelming. Oh, one more thing, we late risers REALLY appreciated the 12-noon check out!! September 13, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice business hotel Overall I had a nice stay for 1 night only. As a Platinum member I had to spin a wheel to get my welcome gift, a bit unusual but OK. I did miss the normal free parking and I think 15$ for a parking spot without any surveillance is overrated. But will come back again September 6, 2013

They put on a great dinner and amazing breakfast, and the lady looking after this area is right there to ensure you have everything you need. She was very friendly and helpful and made us feel like family. The front desk people including the Manager are efficient and friendly. They helped us organize our plans to see the sites of Washington and we are very greatful for their help. It allowed us to see everything in the day and a half we had to do it in. The Manager went so far as to offer us water for our long trip home,, ensuring we had everything we needed and knew how to get to the highway. August 30, 2013

Convenient to DCA Airport... and All DC Attractions - Convenience and comfort are Important to me... this Hotel has both. Staff is "over the top" friendly... I felt appreciated as a customer.. how refreshing.... Only downside; I wish they had healthier breakfast options... I broke down and gave in to those evilly delicious cinnamon rolls!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Incredible Value! I haven't been this happy with an overall hotel experience in a long time! The value for the money was incredible. The price compared to other hotels around DC is almost too good to be true. But it is! The room was large, clean and comfortable with a refrigerator and microwave. A good, hot breakfast is included in the price... as well as dinner Monday - Friday! The staff was very friendly and helpful - even went out of their way. There is a complimentary shuttle to a couple locations downtown (Union station near downtown is the most popular) and the morning and evening. Among the many positives, the only down side is that the hotel is not located in a great area. It's a few miles from downtown and it's in a rather depressed area. There are a few fast food restaurants very close. However, it doesn't matter at all with the shuttle and dinner included!! I highly recommend this hotel!!!! August 27, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 2 out of 3 Ain't Bad My mom and 2 sisters recently spent 3 nights at this HIE in DC. We were delighted with the hotel's atmosphere and the way it was set up. Our room was beautiful and had plenty of room for the 4 of us. Our first 2 nights were very nice and we slept great. However, we left DC quite tired because of our final night. There were about 3 rooms of young adults in the rooms directly beside us and across from us. Their doors slammed into the early hours of the next day. One sister called the front desk to express her concerns. Someone came up and told the people that if they had to be talked to again, they would be asked to leave. It quieted down for about a half hour and then started all over again. They would go outside the end of the hallway (where we were) to go to a neighboring gas station and as we looked out the window, they gave us looks and gestures.....We called a second time. Someone came again. It didn't help at all. The noise went on until the early hours of the next day. When I approached the desk in the morning, they asked if I had called and complained. I said yes, and they said sorry. There was no offer of any compensation. I was using reward points for my trip. It would have been nice if they had possibly offered points for my bad night. Also, the whirlpool/pool room was cold and the whirlpool didn't work. They suggested we use a hotel next door. Breakfast was awesome and the complimentary dinners were good too. August 21, 2013

Rooms are clean and sanitary with new or newer features. Off site dining options are limited unless you drive and use GPS. Only problems I experienced were: 1) no trays available during breakfast hours despite sign stating such; and 2) shuttle return service from Union Station was hard to locate - place a sign on the vehicle. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Free shuttle service was the worst!! Shuttle service was horrible for pickup. They don't have their name on the bus. The 6pm bus never showed left us stranded so we had to take a taxi back. The receptionist that evening "Tammy" didn't seem to worried or concerned regarding the problem. They never offered to pay for our taxi. We were told a bus was on the way to pick us up at 635pm, when we returned to the hotel from the taxi ride the shuttle bus was just leaving their parking lot, which was just about 7pm. The only good was their breakfast was great and the room was nice. August 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Hotel Hi everyone I here is my review of the holiday inn express. Room and Comfort- I stayed at a room with two beds. It had a fridge microwave Tv and all the great items to flourish the room. It was spotless and comfortable. Firm and soft pillows on the bed. Breakfast- The food tasted great. Choices include bacon, pancakes from a pancake making machine, Juice, milk, cinnamon rolls and more. I liked the workers offering to throw my plate away when I was finished. Tv in breakfast room as well. I do wish they had hash Browns. Staff and Service- Excellent. The staff kept the Hotel in tip top shape very clean kind people. Knowledgeable in service. Swimming pool area/ whirlpool were clean and tidy. Value- The value is wonderful. New flat screen Tv's in the room coffee maker for coffee fans. Shuttle Bus takes guests to union station and the convention center for free. I was able to relax peacefully while having fun. I recommend awesome Hotel. August 3, 2013
