This was a strange and uneven experience. Front desk staff throughout were excellent and made me feel right at home. Housekeepers were loud and grumpy, while cleaning adjacent rooms with an early start, no less. The room, and indeed the entire hotel, was tired and does need renovating. The mattress was hard and the pillows soft. Felt a bit like a prison bed. Oddest was the location, though very handy to get on and off the I15, no food outlets around - nearest food was a couple of exits away. But then the breakfast buffet surprised me in being very good with a lot of choice and actually quite fresh. A 3 is generous, but good front desk staff making guests feel welcome and a nice breakfast to wake up to (assuming you actually fell asleep on the prison bed), is worth being generous for.

Extremely lacking in customer service skills on the night staff. I checked-in around 10 pm after a long day of travel and the night guy was absolutely rude, unfriendly, and surely does not understand the number one job description: Customer Service. I am a business traveler and travel weekly across states; I live in hotels and have seen how IHG usually treats they guests. It's a shame that this location has such a pretty location; it could be a great hotel. This hotel is also far from everything so don't ask about food delivery because the staff doesn't know how to assist the guests when you ask for help. Hahaha I asked about food in the area and was told "I don't know maybe pizza". I couldn't have been the first guest to ever ask! Beside the customer service it isn't a horrible hotel (mattress not comfortable); nice place. I did cancel my reservation for next week (11 day stay) and booked Elsewhere.

I showed up late in the St. George location and as I was checking-in I asked them if I could have a bottle of water? In other hotels I've stayed at (I travel a lot for business) they have always been very accommodating and ask "can we get you anything else besides the water..." Well, when I asked if I could have a bottle of water the response was, "let's see what status level you are... Oh- you are a gold member, well you can use your reward points or you can pay $1.55." I said are you serious? I've asked in the past in hasn't been a problem. The reply was "corporate is really cracking down on free giveaways."
Here's my thoughts for corporate: You can go to Walmart and buy a 50 pack of bottled water for just a few dollars... Think about the "dazzling" you would do for your guests if you offered them a bottle of water so they could take that to their room. I'm disappointed to see the decline in customer service all over a $1 or less...
I will start looking at other hotel chains and building my reward points with them.
Well done IHG.
