Our latest stay was October 11 - 15 of this year. We were happy to note that although the hotel is going through renovation of the rooms and hallways; the friendly staff and maintenance people were able to accommodate us in a professional manor October 19, 2013

Generally speaking, I know which rooms to stay away from in any hotel (next to ice machines, elevators, game rooms, exits, etc.) and appreciate it when hotel staff accommodate my preferences. The staff at this Holiday Inn Express know me by name and never fail to go out of their way to give me the room I ask for. The manager, front desk clerks, cleaning staff, everyone who works there, are all friendly and helpful. My work in the immediate area of the hotel has diminished the past year or so but I still like to stay there and drive a little further to my accounts due to the staff. September 23, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just Okay The hotel was okay, but we were given a room that had an adjoining access through a door in the room. The people on the other side of the door spoke very loudly, thereby waking us up after midnight. Had to put the air conditioner and fan on high to help drown out their voices. Will remember to specify "no adjoining" rooms next time. September 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Broken Doors at pool My stay was good here. Lots of things to do surrounding this hotel. Restaurants, drug stores, shopping, etc. I went down to swim in the pool and the key card would not work. In my experience the problem was because batteries in the box are bad. When I brought it up to staff they said It has been that way for weeks, they don't know what is wrong with it and I would have to pull on exit door and it will open. Well, I did and it worked I got to go swim. In the process of me trying to get in the pool other guests where checking in and asking questions of staff. I was very frustrated by the time I was able to ask about the pool 30-45 min later. September 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprised - Positively The Waterford Holiday Inn Express is a hot property in the Waterford, MI area and specifically in the HIE catalog. I was afforded a luxurious experience via the King Room Suite with in-room Spa Tub. This allowed me and my gorgeous traveling companion to achieve a level of relaxation rarely experienced in any Holiday Inn context. Really great. The room looked like what I imagine Julius Caesar would expect were he traveling in Waterford, MI in 2013. Beyond the room - I felt that the staff was extraordinarily accommodating. They knew we were there to party and, rather than rain on our parade, helped us facilitate a pretty rocking post-wedding Fete. If you find yourself in Waterford, MI or nearby and NOT staying here you've made a serious mistake. Thank you Holiday Inn Express for an unforgettable evening - and a surprising paradigm shift from what I would traditionally expect from a hotel in this area/category. September 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Strongly Avoid I stay at about 50 motels each year, primarily Holiday Inn Express. This place is a total dive! The worst that I have EVER seen. The carpets in the hallway and rooms are stained, sticky and totally negeloted. The front desk staff is rude with no understanding of what customer service means, they just don't care. The AC in my room sounded like a broken cement mixer. The mattress and pillows must have been more than 20 years old and smelled like urine. The toilet seat was filthy and the room light bulbs were burned out. Breakfast was 45 minutes late, again a rude staff that did not seem to care. Run down, worn out, dirty avoid this place at any cost a total dive! August 26, 2013

But I can't think of any reason to have the walkway into a persons room so filthy. The staff was excellent. August 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfy bed clean fresh My stay was very last minute I called 1-800-holiday the gentleman whom made my reservation was more than helpful not only with getting me a room but one very close to where I was plus gave exact directions on getting there Once there I was greeted with kindness my room was clean fresh and cool. The bed was very comfortable it was thee best night sleep I've had in months. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices Thank you to all I had a wonderful stay and I will return and I would highly recommend your hotel Thank you again August 21, 2013

We checked OUT of a competitor just down the road, where we had booked five nights, and moved over to Holiday Inn. What a difference. We spent remain four nights here. The staff were wonderful and the room was just what we wanted with good service and quite night's rest. August 19, 2013

Upon check in was told that they would not honor or recognize the employee rate., even after calling several times before check in to confirm . Front desk staff was actually very rude about it. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice facility, but staff/management issues. I've stayed here for business twice. My Priority Club was not on the account at check-in. instead of adding it, the clerk promised she would take care of it at check-out. I checked at check out, still not there. Instead of taking care of it, the same clerk promised again to add it and email me a receipt, she was too busy to take care of it right then. After a couple of weeks, still no receipt, not points added on my Priority Club account. I called the hotel, got the SAME clerk and asked to speak to a manager. I was directed to a manager's voice mail where I left the entire story and a number. I asked for a call back. They never called. I finally did an on-line request with IHG and got my points and receipt. Still haven't heard from the hotel and only got the points for one of the two rooms we used. That's way too much time to spend for a few thousand points. I won't stay there again. July 14, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great staff Packing to move took longer than expected so we ended up staying at the hotel for the night. There was a cheerleading/dance event in town and many girls in the hotel. They were running around and being very loud until after 10:00 PM. When we said something to the staff, they were wonderful. They spoke to the people in charge of the girls and even put up signs. The room was clean and furniture very comfortable. May 10, 2013

The rooms were very clean, the front desk referred us to a local restaurant within walking distance and the staff there was great, even gave my daughter a "Good Luck Desert" for her event the next day. The restaurant was the Lions Den.... they whole weekend was a win! Great Job in making us feel welcome Waterford! May 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The room was fine, and front desk staff good, but the breakfast was a bit underwhelming. I was a bit disappointed in the breakfast. We were there for a dance competition and needed to get breakfast right at 6 am. We got downstairs about that time or a little after - definitely not before. The staff acted acted annoyed that we were there already. The head person was having difficulty getting the pancake maker to work. She kept doing the same steps over and over. After the 6th or so try, she went in the back. When the same status message came up, i put in a different answer and, wah lah! It worked. My opinion is that the waffles are way better! I was disappointed in the egg style. They are pre-made cheese omelets. Just give me scrambled eggs without the cheap cheese please! The included hot breakfast with eggs was the main reason I chose this hotel over the other option. May 2, 2013

Reservations made 2 months prior to the stay and all documentation provided (credit card authorization and tax exemption certificate). Employer made/confirmed all arrangements and documents were in place prior to employee's stay however employee forced to pay cash out of pocket as hotel and management "couldn't find" previously provided documentation. Very inconvenient for a business stay where bill is to be paid by employer. Staff and management barely apologetic over the mix-up and inconvenience. Will NOT send employees here again. The room was comfortable and slept three adults well, although sharing one bathroom for three persons, all of whom had to be up and out for meetings in the morning was a bit tight. The staffpersons were always helpful and made us feel very welcome and "cared for." We would certainly highly recommend this location for other travelers needing hotel services in the area. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A pleasant stay Stayed recently while in the area on business. The staff was friendly and attentive, the room was comfortable and quiet - something very important to me. There is a good restaurant in walking distance. The place just feels good. Only downside was that the hallway carpets are in terrible condition, torn and stained, which detracts from what is otherwise an attractive motel. March 6, 2013
