The front desk staff provide excellent customer service and always with a smile. Special mention of Jillian one of the associates who works the front desk, always has a smile and upbeat disposition. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Difficulty setting Heat and/or Air Conditioner The thermostat (located on the wall and also on the window-unit) are easy to use. We set the unit to HEAT, with Temperature 72 F (wish it has dual F or C display). Fan Speed at Auto. Outside temperature was 6 deg C, hence I believe the room temperature is around 19~20 deg C when 1st entering the room. The unit is actually blowing warm air for short while and after 1/2 hour later, it started blowing cool air. Wish it would stop blowing air if and when the set temperature is reached. End up setting 75 F for 1/2 hour and shut down the unit during sleep to avoid cool air blowing around. April 26, 2014

The Hotel is very conveniently located, next door to the St Jacobs farmers market, and only about a ten minute drive from the universities. We will definitely stay here again. April 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First stay and will be back I had a room as far away from the elevators as I could be. It was very quiet. Loved it. I could relax with no noise. The staff was great. Always helpful and smiling. Comfort in the room was great the armchair was great for hanging out and reading, working with the laptop when I was tired of the desk. Frisge and micrwave and it was like a studie apt. Breakfast had good choices fro any type of food you could want for breakfast. Well beyond the average continental breakfast. Only thing i though the snacks were a bit over priced, but it is a hotel and I didn't have to go out for them. I'll be staying here next time I'm in ther area. April 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Little things make a difference I just wanted to let the staff know how impressed I was to find an individually packaged makeup remover wipe in our bathroom! Not a huge thing to most, but I have never seen even five star hotels stock something so useful and thoughtful for female travelers. The best feeling in the world after a long day is wiping off your makeup, and I just wanted to make sure the Holiday Inn St. Jacobs knows that this was brilliant in my books. :) We felt very welcomed, safe and secure at this hotel. The automatic doors are locked at night, and a front desk staff member lets you in as you arrive. The hotel also left us a note about Earth hour, and encouraged people to turn their lights off at a certain time. We were out during the time listed but it was another nice, unique little touch. Little things like this make you feel like you are in a hotel where management cares about the small stuff, and has a vibrant team in charge. March 31, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Kids Took an extended weekend trip with the family. Location - I loved this location as its a short walk to everything. The St Jacobs market and Outlets are right across the street. Jacks is the family restaurant right next door. Amenities - The pool area is great for kids as its only 4ft in the deep and 3 ft in the shallow. The water features were a nice benefit. We grabbed our bubbas (filled with milk, wink) and watched the kids enjoy the pool for hours. Express Breakfast - As a breakfast guy, the eggs (I think that's what they were# leave a lot to be desired but the kids loved the pancake machine and the rest of the foods were ok and good for a quick start. For breakfast, I'd probably go next door to Jacks if you're a big breakfast guy like me. Room - We stayed in a large suite #rm306). Great room, really clean and huge. Will be buying a portable humidifier for sure as the room was really dry. March 13, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bright lights shining in window all night Our experience overall was excellent: Clean rooms, comfortable beds etc. The only downside was the bright lights shining in our window all night. We were in room #204, which looked directly at the three flags that were spotlit by three powerful lights. There was no blackout shade and we could not draw the curtains. The lights shone directly in the room, creating a twilight feel all night (not quite bright enough to read by but not far off). It was also very windy and the flags were blowing hard. As the bed faced the window, the movement of the flags left me slightly nauseas, as if I had motion sickness. I would suggest strongly that you invest in blackout shades for all rooms facing the flags. February 26, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and Service Checking in was quite a chore... Front night staff unable to process a simple check-in. Took 30 minutes to check-in the person in front of me and didn't seem to know what he was doing. Took another 30 minutes to process my check-in, wouldn't take any of my credit cards (for no reason) and seemed quite out of sorts. There was another person waiting behind me... Based on the check-in experience, I highly doubt that I would return to your establishment. February 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderfully decorated and comfortable amenities While it's easier to describe a brand new hotel as clean, what makes this hotel exceptional in my opinion, was the caring, warm attitude, and friendliness of the staff. The front desk made sure that every need was taken care of. We did not have the opportunity to use the pool due to our own personal time restraints, but it sure looked inviting. A stone's throw from the famous St. Jacob's Farmers Market, I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip anywhere near the Kitchener/Waterloo/St. Jacob's area. One of the best hotels I have stayed at in this price range. And that includes a wide range of travelling all over the US and Canada. Keep up the good work, Holiday Inn Express. January 8, 2014

That was a good experince I liked the breakfast and the decoration is so nice and modern the only problems I can mention is that the bath hadn't been cleaned well. I found razor hair on the bath floor. And the heating system doesn't let you choose temperatures more than 90 F. It was a bit cold, it was snowing outside, so I worn more cloths. But generally that was a good experience and I will recommend it to others. January 8, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not sure if I would stAy again Our room was amply large because we had to get a suite because there were 5 of us....beds were too hard for me so I didn't sleep well and the room doors are hollow so no matter what happened in the hallway outside your room you heard it quite clearly. I was woken up a number of times in the night by people talking in the hallway. Not sure I would stay again. Staff were good and nice, room was clean...just didn't sleep well December 30, 2013

The only problems we had were that the one elevator was out of service for the whole weekend and the breakfast service is over too early. Would love to see it extended to at least 11 am. The hotel seems to be popular with children's sports teams so make sure room is located accordingly however they did not disturb our sleep or quiet in our rooms. A great place to stay. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely noisy day and night We experienced screaming in the hallways by little cheerleaders during the afternoon on Friday when we checked in and extremely loud T.V. from the adjoining room both nights. When we complained on Sat. night it was quickly stopped. However, our bed was not made Sat., kleenex box not refilled and generally displeased with this experience. Would not return nor recommend to anyone coming to St. Jacob's market. December 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No sound proof rooms The only not so good parts of the stay were the pool area and the loud hallways and no sound proofing The pool was extremely hot humid, we actually had to leave the pool area because two of the children we were with were having coughing asmatha attacks. The air did not circulate and was very uncomfortable you could not enjoy the beautiful pool area. The other part was you could hear everything in the rooms beside you, people going to the bathroom conversations etc. there was also a gap around the doors so you could hear everything in the hallways. You might as well have had your door open. So basically the time we spent was loud and we felt uncomfortable using the amenities. It's a new hotel they just need to work out the kinks and it will be exceptional. December 10, 2013

From the moment we entered the lobby there was an aura of welcome and graciousnes you don't often experience. During our many trips across Canada with the Gideons you get used to friendliness and staff politeness, but the reception here, for some reason seemed to be at a much higher level. The room itself was spacious, clean and fresh - a pleasure to be in. The morning breakfast was varied, well laid out and more than adequate. The overall decor was very attractive. The graciousness with which our check-out time was extended was also very much appreciated. We were in the area to attend The Grace Seminar, but the highlight of our stay in St. Jacobs was certainly the accomodations and staff at the Holiday Inn. We should plan another trip to St. Jacobs. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Finally ! A hotel that has it all !! My best friend and I were there for a girls weekend recently. First of all, the hotel was beautiful and SPOTLESS !! Secondly, our room was gorgeous and had everything we needed. Lots of towels and toiletries, an iron and hair dryer and the pillows ??? I was worried about having forgotten my Obus-forme pillow but having both firm and soft pillows to choose from gave me a very restful sleep. Finally, there was a hockey tournament in town and at about 10:45 we noticed the level of noise was getting out of control in the room next to ours. I was concerned as a couple of years ago when in Niagara we were kept up all night by rowdy baseball players there for a tournament and the staff there could not control or contend with them. This was not the case at Holiday Inn Express. Your staff was fearless and told them in no uncertain terms that the noise was to immediately stop. Well, it did !! Bravo to the young woman that looked after the rest of your guests right to a good night sleep. Holiday Inn Express, I'll be back !! November 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and Service We had a great getaway for a night. The hotel we very new and clean and bright. At the time of check in we noticed a lot of hockey families there and the front desk advised us they were aware and upgraded us to be on another floor of the hotel to minimize any potential noise The room was great and well designed. One thing that was a bit of a disappointment is the small shallow tubs hotels still use. No matter, just had hoped to see something better. The hot water did not get very hot either but adequate. The breakfast was great for being included. Not your average continental. Between eggs, sausage, pancakes, toast, bagels, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juices and coffee, what more could you ask for. OH I know..Cinnamon Buns...they have those too and they were warm and delicious! We'd certainly stay here again if needed! November 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff I have been spending a lot of time in the St Jacobs area over the past few months for business and after trying a couple other hotels in the area, I have decided that this one is the best. The main reason for this is the staff are so friendly. They know me by name, remember what room I like while here and go out of their way to make me feel at home. I am extremely impressed with Nayrie at the front desk. She always welcomes me home from a day at work with her friendly smile. She is quick to address any issues I may have - although there have been very few, she will always do her best to help out - She shared her knowledge of the area for things like where to eat, where to go for entertainment, she even shares her chocolate with me : ) She goes above and beyond to make the customers feel that they are valued. Thank you to Nayrie and the rest of the front desk staff for making my extended stays away from home more enjoyable. November 4, 2013
