Told the desk staff about a slow shower drain and it was fixed the same day. Had our grandkids there and they wanted hot chocolate and the staff got some packets for us on 2 different occasions. the male life guard on duty Oct. 2 was professional and very safety conscious, not afraid to inform people of the rules.
We'll be back!

We checked into our non-smoking room and it smelled like smoke. It was a former smoking room, they said, but it still smelled. They kindly put us into a handicapped room (the only room available with a king bed), which was fine with us.
One of the pools was very cold and the lifeguard had no idea what was wrong or when it would be fixed. Some young children were frolicking in the hot tub unattended by any adults. It was difficult to relax with my girlfriend with kids splashing around. I wish the lifeguard would have enforced the pool rules.
The breakfast was okay but the pancake machine was not producing pancakes. Staff had a hard time getting it to work until breakfast had ended and 3 or 4 pancakes came out.
These problems could have been alleviated by more training or empowering employees to take action or paying for better employees.

Upon arrival, our assigned room smelled horribly of smoke. When I made the front desk aware, they moved us to a different room, yet one like we had reserved was not available. One of the housekeepers had told us to wait and let her take the "ionizer" machine up first. With my allergies and asthma, I was not willing to risk this, and this also would not remove the smell that had already permeated the bedding, etc. This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel. While getting the extra blanket out in this second room, we found blood on the blanket. The shower curtain was very dingy and dirty. The refrigerator did not cool, and the faucet would not shut off without working at it for a few minutes. After swimming that evening, we were hoping to shower, yet when the shower was turned on the hose going into the wall shot out and was not able to be quickly repaired. We were then moved to a third room, which only had 2 queen beds for our family of 6. This was also close to 11pm at night. The highlight of the hotel was that the soap and shampoo smelled good, and what breakfast was available was pretty good. There were many items that were missing and not filled as well. This is not the type of experience that we expect from a Holiday Inn Express, and I guess unfortunately will play a role in where we decide to stay in the future. We were able to get our hotel rate reduced when we asked.....yet I would have rather paid our full price and had a good experience in the room type we had reserved.

Had a family gathering in the lobby. Very accommodating. Kids had a great time in the pool. Breakfast was great and room was very comfortable.
