Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Check in Front desk staff have always been extremely competent, especially "Gabino," however, this last check-in, a new front desk clerk handed me my room key and the envelope it comes in, opened it in front of another guest (a stranger to me), personally identified me by name and showed me my room number and displayed it so that the stranger could also see my name and room number --- this was highly offensive to me as this information is between me and your company staff only, not complete unknown strangers January 1, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Business & Family Visit Trip My family was here for 5 nights this past Christmas. I had to work the whole week, while my family was there to visit relative. The room was cleaned better this time. The house-keeping staff was nice. I had some quiet time to work during the day, but they need to improve their internet quality if they want more customer who are there for work/business. The internet speed was good when it's available, though there was time the internet was down for at least half a day, which caused me to leave the hotel to find another place that has internet to work. The front-desk staffs need to be trained better on how to handle guest's questions and concerns. I had both bad (rude) and good experiences with the front-desk attendants. I got to say the manager this time was very attentive; he would watch for guest needs during breakfast hours, making conversation and very friendly. It's Christmas / Holiday season but all they had was some stocking for the staffs on the wall; and a small Christmas Tree in the lobby. Not much of a holiday feel / vibe. Overall experience was an average, though much better than the last time. December 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Electrict plan for emergencies We had a probem in dec 20th because the hotel didn't have electricity and we couldn't see the way to get in, also in the parking place there aren't any emergency lights to see the door and no transport to carry lugage. and we had to carry all the shoping bags by the stairs and made 4 or 5 trips. I suggest you to have an Electricity plant for this ocations or if you have one get a better one. Although we were happy with the food, room and all your service that was excelent, specially the manager inspection on the breakfast, but I suggest that you check the elevator and the people who enters to the hotel because a drunk person left a mess on the elevator. I ASK FOR A ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR AND CLOSE TO THE LOBBY FOR HEALTH REASONS AND THEY ALWAYS HELP ME OUT WITH MY REQUEST. I JUST WISHED THE ROOMS HAD MICROWAVES AND A REFRIDGERATORS. Breakfast was plentiful and there was a good variety. Don't bring food that needs heating or cooling as there is neither frig or microwave in the room. October 14, 2013

However the Manager on duty 8/23/2013-8/24/2013 was snobby and rude. The cleaning staff barged into our room Saturday morning without knocking and walked in on our 4 year old changing. When I approached the two ladies in the hall they were just laughing that my son was not fully clothed. SHOW SOME RESPECT!! August 28, 2013

Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. There's also a mall with a JCPenney, TJ Maxx, Academy and Olive Garden nearby. August 28, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lobby doesn't reflect the rooms When I first arrived at the HIE - Weslaco, TX, the exterior and lobby looked and felt as updated as most other HIEs do. Even the hallway felt like this was an up-to-date property, but it all stops at the door to the room. My bottom floor room had a musty-smell and outdated interior that felt like it hadn't been changed in over 10 years - worn out bed/couch, popcorn walls/ceiling, stained office chair, just to name a few. The room had a strong wireless signal and included a Cat5 Ethernet cable for a wired connection, but when the hotel became full the wireless connection would not hold for more than 3-4 minutes at a time. I tried switching over to the wired connection and found that the Ethernet was not connected to anything. This made working remotely from the hotel nearly impossible until the other guests finally went to sleep. Breakfast was fine and exactly what one would get at any other HIE property. It has a small pool and running gym (no weights). Overall, I expected a lot more from the rooms for the price. August 19, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Road Trip We used this hotel when on a road trip in the USA. We come to the Valley area a lot and we had staid here before. It was good for the price and very conveniently located between Mercedes (outlet shopping) and McAllen. We did not have many problems, just the mattress was VERY soft and because of this I did not have a good night of rest. While there, the internet was not working because there were too many guests connected. Seems like time to upgrade the plan. July 31, 2013

The rooms are spacious and well appointed and very clean and you will find the grounds and common areas well attended. I like the ample and well lighted parking areas too. Linda and Gabe at check-in made me feel welcome again and they showed genuine appreciation for my IHG membership and noted my Platinum Elite. The breakfast area is large and comfortable and easy to find your favorites (cinnamon rolls are my favorite). The housekeeping team here are professional and very serious and attentive and in this great team you will find the best exemplary housekeeper in all of the IHG properties anywhere, Ms Diana G.
