Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous staff I spend at least 4-5 nights each month in hotels, usually Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. This hotel is clean, nice and a good hotel. But the staff is what makes it special. Being away from home for a week at a time makes you appreciate someone who welcomes you when you walk in the door and remembers you when you come back in the next night. April 22, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, Terrible Sevice! I arrived at the hotel on the afternoon of April 7, 2014. I proceeded to check in and was not recognized as a priority club member nevertheless a Platinum member. I was advised that there was no King rooms available and therefore would be complimentary upgraded to a suite. There was some issue with the hotels computer system and so I was not presented a rate sheet to sign. The room was very nice and clean although there was some cosmetic damage to the closet area. The morning of April 8, 2014, I found my rapid check out receipt under the door as expected but was troubled to see that the name on the receipt was incorrect. I approached the front desk with the issue and after several minutes I was told that the corporate office would have to correct the problem and a receipt would be emailed to me later that day. I spent the rest of the week on the phone with different hotel staff trying to obtain a correct receipt. It was not until April 11, 2014 that I finally received a receipt with the correct name on it and learned that I had been charged for the King suite that was suppose to be complimentary. I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and rented meeting space here many times but as much as I like IHG hotels, I will look for other accommodations when staying in West Monroe, LA. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Huge Disappointment! I have frequently stayed at this property over the last five years and am a Rewards member. I have been pleased with this property until my latest stay on March 29th. I stayed at this property on two occasions last week, Sunday night and the following Saturday night. On the first night, my room was not clean as evidenced in a soiled toilet. The complimentary toiletries were not replaced and the sink was not washed down. I did not mention it at that time and considered it a fluke. Mistakes happen...When I checked into the hotel again on March 29th, my room #320, was noticeably dirty. The door card pocket from the previous person was there on the night stand. I pulled the sheets back and it was very obvious that the sheets had not been changed...stains from previous guest remained. When I went into the bathroom, the soap that the previous guest had used was still on the sink. The used soap and used toiletries from the previous guest was still in the shower. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall in a large piece. Simple fixes, but not done! Basically, the room had not been cleaned...PERIOD. "Charles", the housekeeper, had left me a sweet note to "have a blessed stay", but I would have appreciated "Charles" simply cleaning the room that he was paid to do. I did not leave a tip, for sure! I had my own pillow and blanket and I used that for the night. I reported this finding the next morning to the tall guy at the desk. There was NO apology...nothing. I asked for the manager's name and he pointed me to the business card. I contacted the manager on Monday morning about it, and her response was "What do you want?" #Like do you want the room comped?# She told me that she had only been there a month, but was going to clean it up. She was nice and polite, though. She told me to let her know when I was coming back through and she would take care of me. My response is CLOSE THE HOTEL UNTIL YOU GET IT CLEANED UP. Shut down, and don't take customer's money until you have a respectable property. I did not "get comped" because I did not want to be. I just want a clean safe place to stay in West Monroe. Management needs to go room by room and make note of things that need to be fixed. Cleaning out the cleaning crew would be a good start. Won't stay here again until I see the satisfaction rate go up more. I DO NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Also....There was NO recognition of Rewards Club member. April 6, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by excess pillows/light from bathroom directed to first bed by mirrow. Light needed a night to be able to fiind bathroom. This is the first time we have had a bad stay. when I made the reservation - requested 3 nights ( I should have caught it on confirming msg - ) when received checkout on second night called front desk was told "no Problem" but nothing was done in room that day. Beds not made. no clean towels/wash clothes. trash not emptied. floor not vacuumed. One phone next to bed did not work. Refrigerator froze water solid. Breakfast bar not user friendly. April 4, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet, restful stay Key personnel were friendly and met needs when asked. Nature park that is adjacent to hotel property is a great place to go for a walk. The park has a mile long gravel trail running through it and makes for a great place for exercise or to take dogs for a walk. Due to significant number of other people walking through the park I felt that it was very safe place to get a little exercise. Very convenient to several national chain restaurants. Several of them are just 3-4 minutes down the road. About a mile away from the Duck Commander showroom. All in all this is best place to stay in West Monroe. Will definitely come back again and again. April 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel!!! :) This hotel is one of the best places I stay at! The staff is outstanding! From check-in with Dallas to check-out with Michele. Breakfast was outstanding with the young lady Elise. I encountered two housekeepers and they were so nice and up beat. Stella and Teresa. The managers reception they have on Monday-Wens was amazing and well put together, and the popcorn and pink lemonade was a great touch every night. The walking trail behind the hotel was so nice and convenient. Also it is by so many restaurants. I would recommend this hotel. I will be staying here again! April 1, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty and Rude The night staff was less than excited to welcome us to their hotel, even though I am a Platinum member. The morning staff was no better with the exception of the breakfast lady. I regret that I did not get her name as she was the only bright spot in this miserable hotel. Our room had water stains on the bathroom ceiling and was beginning to fall down. The bathtub had rust stains, the toilet mineral stains and the bathroom floor and corners looked as if it had never been cleaned since the hotel opening. The wall behind the door had holes in it from the door hinges. The pull out bed supplies were missing a cover for the comforter and a pillowcase. The comforter was stained with ink ( I hope). Also, this is the most expensive HI Express I have ever stayed in for the same type of room. I have never had to write a negative review about a Holiday Inn Express before but this was justified. We won't be back to this one. March 8, 2014

Room prices have soared and forget booking amy boys point packages, they are far too high. Only upside to this hotel is the direct access to restoration park behind it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most comfortable beds! The comfort of the beds is what impressed me the most. Rooms are clean with nice décor. Hallways and elevators aren't kept as clean as most hotels that I use on business trips....needs more attention to detail. Check-in is always quick and efficient, evening desk clerk is very friendly and helpful. Location is terrific! I recommend this hotel and will be staying there again. I'm encouraging my company to get an account set up due to their proximity to the airport. The area also appears safe. March 2, 2014

And usually my bill was provided under my door, but there was not even someone at the front desk when I checked out to provide the bill. Their price is not competitive and I will probably arrange to stay somwwhere else next time I am in the area. February 20, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I'll keep coming back This is was the 6th time my family has stayed Monroe this year. The near by park is a favorite spot for our family to take walks to relax after a day of driving. It also is a great way to get some fresh air before climbing back in the car the next day. As a fan of Duck Dynasty we enjoy driving around Monroe seeing the places that appear on the show. The hotel staff is very friendly and always gives my kids a little snack in recognition of my priority status. The popcorn machine is a big win with the kids as well. We will continue to stay here and highly recommend it to any one staying January 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Meeting Room The front desk cancelled the reservation the week before the meeting for unexplained reasons. When we checked in and they discovered the error, we were promised a discounted price to make up for their error -- this did not happen either. They double billed the room to my credit card, failed to keep the agreed upon refreshments available, and were very unapologetic overall. I would not recommend this locations meeting rooms at all. The attendees staying at this location seemed to find the hotel rooms acceptable. January 20, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Excellent Stay Wife and I travelled the day after Christmas from Longview, Texas. We had no reservations, just a plan to travel through Louisiana. Stopped in West Monroe, went to the Starbucks and used their wifi to find a hotel that was pet friendly and included breakfast. To our surprise the HI Express in West Monroe is pet friendly! Great, because we had our Pekingese with us on this trip. Booked the room online. Talked to the desk clerk, Dallas, on the phone, too. Easy check in with no problems. Dallas had some great suggestions for local places to eat. Room was clean and LARGE. Great place to stay for the night. Great breakfast, as always with HI Express. When I went to walk the dogs in the morning, there is an entrance to the Restoration Park walking trail right in the back parking lot of the HI Express. We will definitely be back to West Monroe and most definitely will stay here again. January 13, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The water smells funny and the desk clerk is clueless We stopped to spend the night here while driving cross country. We called ahead to verify our reservation and get directions. The front desk clerk told us the wrong exit # and we wound up getting off I-20 in the bad section of town at 1A.M. When we arrived I told the desk clerk about it and he thought it was funny. I didn't think it was the least bit amusing. We checked in and there was no acknowledgement of IHG club member status or welcome goody bag. Again it was late and I'd just driven 700 miles and I just wanted to sleep. There were no carts available to help us carry our bags up to the room. Again, Lurch, the clerk, was of no use if finding one or helping in any way. When we got to the room everything was fine. The room was clean and quiet. All the lamps worked and none of the room fixtures were broken or malfunctioning. The bed was soft and we slept very well until the cleaning crews arrived in the morning. I went to take a shower and discovered the city water in West Monroe smells. It's not, " I'm not gonna go near that stuff bad" but it does have a discernible swampy fishy smell to it. I took a shower anyway because I was sweaty from driving all day. I didn't smell like the water afterwards according to my wife so that's a plus I suppose. Neither of us tried to drink it or brush our teeth with it. The next morning the cleaning crews came through very very early as in just before 8 it seemed. They made as much noise as a tank battalion on the march knocking on doors and slamming them. It was annoying and we felt rushed. Overall I'd call this place average at best. The room was nice and comfortable but the staff need remedial training and tighter management monitoring and control. I'm not sure what, if anything can be done about the water supply. We stayed at 6 Holiday Inn / Holiday Inn Express Properties across the country during this last vacation. This property was easily the worst of them by a mile. All of the other ones were great places with only minor issues if any encountered. I would stay at this place again if I HAD to but I'd most likely try to get a room across the river at the Monroe HIE if at all possible. January 11, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Inn Yet When I arrived I subject to being assigned to rooms under construction to "dirty rooms". The experience was downhill from there. From the stomping neighbors above me to the cleaning people who "can't" clean your room while you are in it so If you respond when they knock they just skip you and don't come back to the Management who appeared to listen to my concerns, promised to credit back my points used to be served a bill at the end of my stay for this horrible experience. This is a definitely on the list of travel place to avoid totally. It is the last Holiday Inn in the area and is not representative of Holiday Inn Brand. DO NOT STAY! January 10, 2014

Usually at this chain, someone takes note of this pretty quickly and remedies the situation, however, I had to find a person, twice, to make me some coffee and the second time she had words for me, which I thought was inappropriate for this chain. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good wheelchair space, wide doors After asking for wheelchair accessible room, was given room on first floor with no bathroom grab bars. Changed to room with good grab bars, wide doors, lots of maneuver space. Only potential problem was room on 4th floor. It is ludicrous to put wheelchair rooms on other than the ground floor, as the wheelchair user can not use the stairs in case of fire when the elevators are unusable. Nice room, not properly situated in the hotel. January 6, 2014

In the mornings the coffee was cold and the food had ran out....it was only 7:00. Only 1 of the 2 beds were made. At 5:00 pm we returned and there were no towels or wash cloths, although they had picked up the dirty ones. I inquired at the desk and they provided towels and hand towels. I asked for wash cloths but they were in the dryer. Never did get wash cloths! The phones in the room didn't work. Worst Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at. January 1, 2014

Back lot felt remote and not well lit, and clearly posted that hotel was not responsible for theft or vandals - - not reassuring when arriving at dark thirty. Stairwell and hall carpets needed vacuuming, and despite no smoking policy, the second floor did smell like cigarettes and ash tray. Room was better than initial impression, but went downhill quickly after finding a "skidmark" in the toilet. Didn't sleep well wondering if room was clean. Shower and sink water ran with a brown tinge, but not sure that I can blame that on Holiday Inn. Simple breakfast bar was quite delightful, and attendant did have some personality and charm. I used points for my stay...but, given the published rate, would have been extremely disappointed with this visit had I paid advertised price. ...as I said, just so so! December 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room Check in was bad. Guy seemed distracted and took forever. Toilet was dirty in the room. Only one bag of decaf coffee I drink regular. At breakfast bar the attendant told me to move so she could retrieve something under the coffee bar. Coffee was luke warm. When I went to the attendant to bring the cold coffee to her attention she was busy on a personal cell phone call and appeared to be arguing with someone. She didn't have time for me. Back in the room for a shower and the water wouldn't drain from the tub the water was also brown. December 15, 2013
