The rooms were small, even for a Holiday Inn Express, but very clean and decorated well.
The hotel public areas were very utilitarian looking... almost hospital-like. It's very cold because of the interior design, all tile and pastel... more like something that should be in Florida, not Williamsburg, VA.
Although most of the spaces appeared very clean, the pool did not. The water was so cloudy you couldn't really see through to the bottom, so we didn't swim, although we had planned to.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was good, but the usual. It wasn't well administered though and on the third day we were there, they were running out of everything and people had to stand around waiting for items to be brought out.
All in all, it was a good place to stay if you're looking for a safe, clean room to come back to after a full day of sight seeing!

The entire family enjoyed our stay at the hotel during our vacation. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The kids loved the pool and breakfast choices. We were only 15 min away from most attractions we visited during our stay.

Late arrivals and slow staff members can lead to a breakfast traffic jam. It pays to be the early bird at breakfast. Patrons lined up with empty plates waiting for a resupply of the breakfast buffet. When the attendant returned with a tray of only ten sausages the first woman in line scooped up half of them to feed her sleepy family waiting at their table, wearing what they had slept in and hair disheveled. The patrons waiting in line groaned as she finished off what was left of the eggs and biscuits. A business cannot fix the rudeness of its patrons. But it can keep the breakfast bar well supplied. Good thing I rose early. Watching the crowd while sipping coffee can be instructive and entertaining.
