Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel I stay at HI Express throughout the year with my job traveling the eastern region of the US. This was the nicest HI Express I've ever stayed in. Its appears to be new with large clean lobby. Large breakfast area. Our room had 2 flat screen TVs. Rooms up to date & quiet. Located on a main road with many restaurants & shops. Short distance to Outlet shops and William & Mary College. Will stay here again. November 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel with great staff We spent two nights here and were thoroughly impressed with the hotel, its staff and location. The room were amazing - clean, comfortable, well presented and no problems at all. If there is one issue it is that you need to bend sidewards and backwards to get to the toilet paper. Apart from that it was perfect. Even the laundry room is so clean that you could eat your dinner off the floor - and believe me, most laundries don't fit that description. Lots of local restaurants to choose for dinner, close to everything but not a noisy location. Breakfast was great each morning and included in the room price. We would certainly return here! Upon our arrival we found a half used bar of soap on the floor of the bathroom, stray hairs in the tub, toilet, and sink, and a thick layer of dust covering most of the room. Even my son rubbed his finger across the counter and said, "Gross!" We decided to not swim in the empty, green pool. I was awakened at 12:30 am with an allergic reaction to all of the dust! After going down to breakfast, our disappointment continued with stale doughnuts and tasteless sausage. Never again! November 20, 2013

All questions we had about area were answered and directions were available to all places we wanted to visit. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Room was comfortable and for the most part clean. It could use a thorough spring cleaning as my mother used to say, but it was only for one night. Hotel is in a great location with the The College of William and Mary, shopping, Colonial Williamsburg and great restaurants all fairly close. Bed was very comfortable. Added treat of a family of deer grazing in the open lot next to the hotel, a sight you don't see in the city very often November 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice hotel We stayed at this hotel 6 yrs. ago & returned over the Veteran's Day weekend this month. The hotel was clean, quiet and the staff was very polite and helpful. I have severe sensitivities to fragrances, cleaning products and chlorine. I requested that room sprays not be used and that our room would be away from the pool. Holiday Inn has always been very accomodating to my needs and I , truly, appreciate it. Our shower curtain rod was loose but was fixed immediately. I would like to suggest a few rooms without carpet ( tile only) for people with allergies to avoid dust and carpet odors. You would be surprised how difficult it is to travel and how scary it is for many. Going away for a fun relaxing time can end up a total nightmare if exposed to the wrong things. Only negative was some missed dust on the headboards, lamps and TV. I always travel with some natural cleaning wipes, so it wasn't a problem and everything else was perfect. Really enjoyed the breakfast each morning! Thank you, and we hope to return next year and not have to wait another 6 years! November 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great location The easy access to shopping and attractions makes this a great location to stay. Room was comfortable even though it could have used a through cleaning. Noise from other guests was at time annoying however thats a chance you take when staying in a hotel. Added bonus for us was watching the family of deer in a vacant lot next to the hotel as they grazed lazily. Not everyday you see this in an urban setting November 16, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Wrong room Check in was good and was got room 206, well after trying my key a few times a Big guy comes to the door with death in his eyes. He said what are you doing and I said trying to get in my room and showed him my room number. He said well this is my room. After picking up my teeth I went down and got room 330 that was fine. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE The customer service at the front desk has to be the worst that I have experienced. I contacted the hotel to inform of my late arrival around 10:30PM. When I arrived I was left standing in front of the front desk while 3 agents figured out who was going to check me. I was aknowledged by the statements of " oh I am logged out of Opera" and "Whose going to check her in?" The checkin process was very quick and I was aleady turned off I did not even mention my PC Reward. The location is great since very close to Busch gardens and other attractions but the attitude of the staff completely ruins it. October 30, 2013

We didn't want to make the 3.5 hr drive back to Baltimore so we stayed at this hotel. They have a free continental breakfast in the mornings and free wifi. Our room had both a fridge and a microwave which was convenient. Highly recommend! October 9, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bed The bed smelled as if the linen had not actually been washed but instead sprayed with some type of disinfectent. The odor of it caused a physical reaction with me that prevented me from sleeping. After driving for 12 hours that day I was too tired to look for another hotel. I have alwys been pleased with Holiday Inn Express in the past but this location was the exception. September 24, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff need to communicate better We were using this property as a room for a performer coming to our venue. We've used them in the past and I thought the property looked very nice, was convenient to our downtown location, and was affordable. We've never heard bad things from our performers who have stayed there. My problem was with the front desk staff. I went by earlier in the day to make sure that they had the reservation straight and that the appropriate credit card was being charged. I was told that all was fine. However, when the performers later appear to check in they were told that there was a third party authorization form that needed to be filled out. They had to fax it to me and I had to fax it back, which was a pretty big disruption to me and the performer at a time when we didn't need that. It was especially aggravating since I had gone by earlier in the day on my own time to make sure there were no problems. As an aside, I should have figured that attention to detail wouldn't be their strong suit when I noticed that the printed weather forecast on display at the desk was from four days before. It is convenient to all of our activities, always clean and the staff is always very nice and courteous. We request a 1st floor room due to health reasons and to date - they have always honored our request. We have always been able to find a parking spot at night, but sometimes it is difficult - especially when other patrons park over the line. They could use more parking. September 16, 2013

The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. We had a great time. We will absolutely stay here again when we return to the Williamsburg area. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by excellent customer service and comfortable beds Because of what at first appeared to be very minor car trouble but turned into having to rent a car to drive home, I found myself along with two teenagers hanging out in the hotel lobby over four hours after check-out time. The manager, Sabrina came to check on us and offered water. Later, she offered an extra pizza leftover from the employee's lunch. She refused an offer of money for the pizza. Sabrina went above and beyond basic good customer service. Her excellent customer service helped to calm a very stressful situation. I didn't have the heart to complain about the hard-to-adjust high pressure shower head and the too small shower curtain. August 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Family Vacation The staff was very friendly but not knowledgeable of the transportation for guest for the surrounding activities (the trolly or the bus that stops right in front of the hotel). The eggs were runny/watery. There was not enough seating during breakfast time. The business center computer did not work. There was a mildew smell in the exercise room and you could not adjust the temperature in the room which after you worked, out the sweat and mildew was not a good combo. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan for the steam from the shower or if you used the bathroom. The pool did not feel heated. The a/c made a loud noise at night. Housekeeping does not pick up the sheets to check around the bed. The bed had candy and food crumbs around it. August 25, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by compared to the last 2 times we stayed I have chosen this hotel in Williamsburg for the last 2 years. But this year was alittle different. I would suggest you check the rooms and hallways especially after the house cleaning is done. When we got there about 4 pm Thursday, the bed linens were all in the hallway on the second floor. They stayed there until the next morning. The hallway had the same trash in floor for the 2 days we stayed there. The bathroom and room was outdated. The bathroom had no fan. The shower curtain rod was so bent that the shower curtain stayed in the middle of the rod allowing water out on both sides. I would suggest someone going over the rooms and housecleaning periodically. August 20, 2013

The desk staff was always friendly and helpful. When we decided to stay an extra day the lady was very helpful even switching things around so we could keep the same room! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff and Nice Room We travel to Williamsburg a couple times a year to stay for a night and shop. This was our first time staying at the holiday Inn Express and we loved it. The only thing we didn't like was the breakfast. My daughter loves making waffles when we stay at hotels and this was the first hotel with no waffle maker but a pancake maker, that wasn't working. We definitely would recommend and stay again.
