We have stayed here three years, and will stay again. Great room and wonderful staff service. Friendly and helpful check in, easy check out. Great breakfast with attentive staff. Caring manager who checked in with people regularly to be sure all was okay, and was easily visible every day. Any concern or question was quickly taken care of. Great location near food, shopping and main roads. As a priority club member we always get special recognition.

I had a great experience and stay at the Holiday Inn Express Wilmington-University Ctr. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and entire facility was clean and well kept. Already have reservations for another stay in Sept.

This property is in need of an upgrade which I think is possibly in the works as there was a note in our room to excuse the noise, but I couldn't tell that anything was happening yet. The linens were pretty old and dingy not giving me the feeling that my bed was real clean. The staff was ok, but not all that accommodating from what I observed. The breakfast was the best part, but the area wasn't laid out very well making it difficult for everyone to maneuver around in the space. This experience was definitely not what I have been used to when staying at a HIE property.

No complaints. Clean room, good breakfast, fast check in, easy check out. Updated carpet, flat screen TV. Would stay again.

I wouln't go back there again. The pull out sofa was terribly worn, and should be not be used to sleep on. They need to replace those. The bed was comfortable though.
I wouldn't go back again. I was charged an extra 20 bucks with no explanation, and no I didn't take a single towel home with me. No one can explain why.

Have stayed at this HI Express for several years over Christmas hollidays and are always pleased with the service. Much better value than condo's we had rented in years past. No let down in service eventhough holliday season.

The Hotel is aged and going through remodel new paint carpets etc. however the room in which I stayed smelt of burned smoke as if a fire or otherwise had contaminated the air conditioner, No restaurant in hotel made it difficult to eat after a long day , the surrounding eateries were always packed with lines outside door or having to wait longer than normal for service when entered, if your into fast food burgers then eating is not a problem there are plenty to go around, suggest if staying for any period stock up and use the fridge and microwave. The beds are some what hard, not firm, and made sleeping difficult, turning over to avoid pressure points during the night. The staff is friendly and dedicated to service as much as possible, always fresh towels etc. I would advise another location if extended stay but for the night it would be alright

Check In ok, no issues with Internet speed or service. Housekeeping dropped the ball. Left early on Saturday and did not return until late Saturday night, so there was no opportunity to correct the problem. Someone entered the room, placed a fresh towel on the rack and took the hairdryer out of the unit and left it on the bathroom counter - definitely not me, I'm bald and have little use for the hairdryer. Waste baskets not emptied, bed not made.
Breakfast was a madhouse due to the hotel being sold out for the weekend due to various events at UNCW. Waste bins in the lobby were overflowing with styrofoam cups and plates for extended periods and not changed until after breakfast was over. Tables not cleaned as well. Bananas were out for consumption, but so ripe that they couldn't even be peeled. Ladies were working hard to keep the food stocked, but coffee and milk ran out. No management support visible.

What a wonderful property; clean, comfortable, great staff!! Great value, and location. We were in Wilmington for a UNCW tour and we would definitely recommend it to other travelers.

First, let me say that I stayed at this motel for 6 of the last 7 weekends. Because of my extended stay in one motel, I got to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. The front desk help was always great. After a few weekends, they recognized me and would chat a lttle during check-in. They always acted glad to see me and that was comforting. Each weekend my room was excellent. The Internet service was good with rare problems. That was important as this was a buiness trip for my wife and me. That's a summary of the good.
The bad was the cleaning crew. Some of the staff were good, but sometimes not. For example, once I had the do-not-disturb card hanging in the door and they still knocked anyway. Another time the room was available for cleaning after the first night and they never cleaned it at all. I had to go by the front desk and ask for towels; twice.
The ugly was the stuck elevator. One of the two elevators jammed and they struggled repairing it all weekend. I have a phobia of elevators anyway. So, I avoided that elevator the rest of my time there.
Overall it was a good experience. I realize mechanical difficulties are inevitable. I also realize all motels struggle to find good help. No question... I'll be back. But I believe these are some areas management may want to improve on.

I have stayed at this hotel before and prefer it over some of the others I have stayed at in the Wilmington area. The staff is friendly and helpful to my needs. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

The bed itself was comfortable. The bed linens just didn't fit the mattress very well. During the night I had to get up several times to resecure the fitted linen to the matress. Also, the Firm Pillow was just not firm enough for me.
I have been coming to Wilmington, NC for 9 years on business and leisure. I always stay at this location, that will not change. I really enjoy may staying here.

Arrived here for a marathon. Staff made breakfast available at 3 am, when many of us were leaving for the race. Room was very comfortable and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Allowed a later checkout for being priority awards member, which was nice as it allowed me to take a shower after the marathon.

Stayed at this hotel while in town for my daughter's Middle School All State Orchestra try outs and the staff opened a conference room so that her and her classmate that we brought could practice (they also found a music stand from somewhere that they could use). Very impressed with the night staff!!!

Since there is a new owner now, the regular staff is not happy and many are leaving. Due to pay cuts. This was a very nice and friendly place to stay, buT now is declining in the experience of a nice clean place to stay while on the road.
