The staff, rooms, breakfast and especially the service exceeded my expectations!!! I truly enjoyed myself - my family did too!! Everyone was highly accomodating!! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Staff review I arrived in a strong rain storm. A car was parked under the awning with driver having a talk with your employee. I parked and dragged my bags through the rain. Next morning no coffee was in the one dispenser staged. Ate my breakfast for 15 minutes still no coffee. heard a conversation from the kitchen area. Desk clerk and woman responsible for coffee having a nice talk. Asked for coffee and was told it was brewing and would arrive soon. returned to breakfast area. Waited. Heard the same conversation going on at the front desk. Once again asked for coffee. When the conversation was completed I was provided with one dispenser of coffee. Checked out that morning and moved to the Holiday Inn property by I-95. Staff there were great and accomidations much better. Won't be back at the downtown location. You have a staff who feel thier casual conversations are much more important than performing the job. March 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Experience Did not find the hotel that great compared to other Expresses. Travelled with a group that was watching their collegiate sons play baseball in the area. Seemed to be only draw for hotel so surprised about the attitudes. Not compared to others that seem to be happy to have your business. First, discovered that no discounts were offered to encourage you to stay. This is not the case with other hotels. As a matter of fact, seemed everyone paid different costs for rooms. Charged more for a Thursday than a Friday, Saturday which was found to be odd. Manager (female) on Saturday morning handled business with customers in blue jeans and a Mickey Mouse shirt with no name tag and was viewed as not accomodating or professional. All other employees wore uniform shirts and pants. Breakfast foods were put out at different phases and seemed to end early. Eggs always seemed non existant. Coffee only available during breakfast hours. Most other hotels available all day. One elevator for a five story hotel is ridiculous. Friday morning was serviced and forced to use steps to fourth floor. Bed was horrible. Would never stay at this hotel again. Especially with other options nearby. Never recognized for being a Priority Club Member. Stayed in Columbia, SC previous weekend, treated better, less price, and cleaner, better accomodation. March 23, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Run down hotel at top rate prices. Front desk help lacked professionalism. She spent the entire long check-in loudly sucking snots back up her nose instead of excusing herself to get a tissue. I was afraid to touch her pen to sign in. I was given a room with one bed when I reserved two beds. When I went back to the desk to tell her, she said "well I upgraded you to a suite", like I should just take it and be happy to sleep on a sofa. I had to show her the reservation I printed out and the person's name who took my reservation over a month previously. I stood there another ten minutes while she played with the computer and finally had to get her boss to find me a room with two beds. I was then given a two bed room that was a handicap room. The shower head about one inch higher than my head. Never once did I get a "sorry" for wasting my time and spending thirty minutes to check-in. This hotel needs a lot of renovations. For a Holiday Inn Express, I expected better from the staff and the facilities. O yeah, the two beds, they were very comfortable. March 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff are very accommodating and friendly The staff at the front desk were great. They greeted us with a friendly welcome and made sure all our needs were met. The hotel is in a quiet section of town and we had a good, comfortable night sleep. It was a little way off of I-95, which helped keep the noise down. We're adding this hotel as our new stopping place when traveling the I-95 North/South highway. Thanks for the hospitality......Dennis and Paula March 20, 2013
