Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LynnD2001 Great weekend stay
We stayed here for 2 nights while we attended the Big E. The hotel was very nicely maintained and the room was great. The bed was very comfortable which was nice after a long day at the fair :).
The breakfast choices where what you find at most HIE hotels, we were pleased with what was available.
We were very close to the airport, but only heard a few flights during the night.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for this area.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Comfortable bed and large quiet room
I was very satisfied with the room. I wondered why there was no on site restaurant or room service, but later learned that that is not part of the express franchise. I was pleased that there was free shuttle service to local restaurants, but return trips sometimes involved a wait. For close to airport accomodations for early flights, this was a much better value for basic needs than nearby more-expensive motels.

This hotel is very adequate for an overnight stay near Bradley Airport. Mattresses are comfortable and staff are accommodating.
I don't like the fact that you can't switch the fan to stay on constantly, on the air conditioners. They have disabled that functionality, no doubt due to the obsession toward energy efficiency. The A/C is not particularly noisy but the constant cycling on and off of the air conditioner leads to disrupted sleep. Why, oh why, hotels can't learn this basic lesson is beyond me.
As a Spire member I am supposed to get complimentary upgrades, but have never received a room that seemed anything better than what I'd booked, after many dozens of stays at this hotel. They've often assured me that the room I'm getting is upgraded, but you wouldn't know it. Perhaps they don't have anything other than very standard rooms at this property.
Never been a fan of Holiday Inn Express breakfasts - the food seems so "manufactured" and stale.
In spite of these remarks, everything else about the hotel is great. Front desk staff are wonderful.

The bathrooms need to have ventilation fans in order to get rid of excess steam and moisture and to cut down on the noise coming from other rooms and the hallway.
Noreen in the breakfast room was outstanding: always on top of keeping everything fresh, hot, and available when needed. The paper birches outside in the front of the hotel should be retained; guests love to watch the birds flocking there. Overall, it was a good stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sleerost Darn Great Value for the Buck!
This is my second time to this facility and it was as good, or even better, than the first one year prior (our stay was from 9/25-9/27/2015). There was a few, though very minor, housekeeping issues. Noreen, the Breakfast Buffet Attendant, is so far above average; you'll wonder how she didn't set the carpet on fire along with her unparalleled attention to food service, table cleaning, trash removal...a true marvel to watch. We attended the BigE in Springfield MA, so our time spent at the Holiday Inn Express was sleeping and Breakfast mostly. This is the location we will return to year after year for sure.
