Staff was unaccommodating upon check in. On phone with a personal call had to wait to check in. Hotel room was not clean and very warn. Bed was uncomfortable, wallpaper peeling off wall, and carpet warn down in several spots. Very musty smell. After giving them the credit card I wanted charged upon check in I received my receipt wrong card was charged. The charging of correct credit card was a complete fiasco! I requested a call back from onsite management but never received a call back. Very dissatisfied with this hotel. Absolutely the worst experience with any Holiday Inn Express.

This was a get a way weekend for my husband and I. The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was excellent. The shuttle bus was one of the best offers. If we ever need to return to the area no question we would stay here again B&D

For the most part my stay was ok. It was visibly obvious that the building had recently under gone an update. How ever after getting into our room we found the in room fridge was not working. The staff responded quickly but were still unable to fix the issue at that time. The location of the hotel was slightly hard to find, but was in a good location with easy (walking) access to a grocery, pharmacy, and a selection of food places. It was very nice to have a free shuttle to transport us down town tot the convention center. The shuttle was clean, and the drivers were very nice. The morning breakfast was ok, nut an hour before it was supposed to be over they started to run out of things.

The only negative was the TV. My TV at home reacts immediately to a channel change. The room TV took 4 or 5 seconds to react to a change.
While there were a lot of channels, some popular sports and free movie channels were not available.
(Braves baseball, for example) I would like to see IHG increase the number of available channels to give more options.

Great location for the University, hospital and downtown. Extremely easy to check in and and move about with your car. We were visiting our son in med school and it could not have gone smoother.

I liked the staff and the location.
The furniture was old and NOT comfortable. The bed hurt me over all. The table in the room was worn and the shower was very old. It still had burns in it from when you could smoke in the room.

I chose to stay here for economical reasons while attending a weekend residency for my online program with Wake Forest University. Many of my cohort members stayed at a much more expensive recommended hotel.
I'm very pleased with my choice. Pricing was my top priority, and I was not expecting the level of cleanliness and quality that I walked into. The lounge and room felt extremely clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable, and the room had a mini-fridge and microwave that made my stay a little easier. The breakfast was your basic continental, and the coffee was DELICIOUS.
Unless prices increase too much from reviews like this, I will stay here again with no question in my mind next residency I have! Again, I was just expecting to save a few dollars, and the hotel exceeded my expectations.

After many hours at the bedside of a loved one who was in Baptist Hospital, I was exhausted, physically and emotionally, and reluctant to leave the area. The location was the reason I chose this hotel. I was able to literally stay within sight of the hospital. I called the hotel and was assured that I could check in early and they would hold a room for me. I arrived several hours later than expected but was promptly checked in and on my way to a hot shower and much needed sleep. My room was exactly as expected. Clean. Quiet. Comfortable. Affordable. I can't tell you about their pool. I can't tell you about their meeting facilities. I can't tell you about their workout facilities. I can tell you the staff was friendly, at check in, each time I passed the desk, and at check out. I can tell you my room was pleasant, the shower was hot and my needs were met. I can tell you I had peace of mind knowing I was minutes from the ICU at Baptist and I could be there for my family. If you need a room, give them a try. They certainly came through for me.

This was our first time staying in the Miller St. hotel. We found it to be a very nice hotel. While our reason for having to have a hotel room was not pleasant, staying in a nice, clean hotel and room lessened our stress.
I will recommend this Holiday Inn to family and friends.

Good rooms with all the amenities you would expect. Service was sufficient but not exceptional. Despite the name of the hotel it's still a good 30 minute walk from downtown. Good connections to the highway. Breakfast was ok but not a very big choice. Overall an average experience.

Did not receive the style of bathing facilities that was requested when the reservations were made. Was told that the one that was requested was available. It was disappointing after driving 3 hours and to late to cancel, not to mention the price of the room compared to the price I had to pay the many times in the last year. The channel listing that is available in the rooms is not correct.

I use this facility a couple times a year to hold seminars. The overnight stay is excellent and the meeting room is always set as requested.

I called the hotel for reservation and was patched through to the 800 reservation. I didn't want to go there because I needed to find out if I could get a room with two queen beds. I stated my request to the person at the reservation and he said that would be no problem.
When I got to the hotel on friday night I was given a King. I went downstairs to see about a change. The manager finally came over from the Breakfast area where he was eating his dinner with some of the other staff and acted pretty put out. I don't know if it was because I interrupted his dinner or what but he was not very nice. I was told I they didn't have any doubles. I not real pleased with this experience because I had specifically called the hotel direct to find out if I could get a double and they switched me to the 800 reservation without even asking. I travel 4 nights a week every week. I am a platinum member and this should not the way I feel I should be treated. Having to sleep 3 people in a king bed is not the way I want to spend the night. I know I will not be staying at this location but I am also going to be staying somewhere else.

I found the price of this hotel a little expensive considering the fact that it was a modest remodel with rather small rooms. Overall, the facility was an older updated building with a very creaky elevator. On the plus side, the breakfast was good and the sun room was a nice touch with comfortable seating.

The sliding doors were locked when we arrived at 2am and we needed to knock on them loudly and yell before someone came over. It may be standard protocol but not sure. It wasn't a big deal.

Made reservation online. Once arrived, check in was extremely quick and simple. Room was nice, clean, roomy, private with plenty of area for bags/luggage. Enjoyed the cookies provided at night as well as the continental breakfast in the morning, with eggs, sausage, biscuits, croissants, bread, cereal, coffee, juice, etc., very nice breakfast. Front desk even provided discount coupons for area restaurants, next door to small strip mall, with several restaurants, dollar store, grocery store, hardware store, pharmacy store. Also close to area shopping within a few blocks, very close to Wake Forest Hospital and interstate. Was very pleased with hotel, staff, environment, services provided, would recommend to anyone staying in area.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Winston-Salem because my husband was having major surgery at The Wake Forest Baptist Health Center. We arrived the night before, the attendant at the front desk was so nice, sweet, concerned and helpful to all of my questions. The room was really nice and clean had nice amenities. I would definitely recommend this Holiday Inn Express especially if you or a family member are having surgery. You can see and walk to the hospital or take advantage of the hotel's shuttle service.

Because every time I moved the bed creaked so badly it sounded like monkey noises and it kept me awake all night. and the mattress was probably the worst I've ever slept in all the years I've been going to HIE properties. I will not be returning to this property

Being a regular at HIE, I found everything to be at or above par. I would prefer windows that open ... I am a fresh air sleeper ... And the king bed was far too firm .. To be expected as hotels want them to last. All in all, an acceptable stay.

I stay at this location very often for work. The last time I stayed there, I was more than disappointed. The elevator is barely operable and makes terrible noises. I was staying on the 5th floor and the button wouldn't work properly to go to that floor. I had to hit the button, 2-3 times. There was hair in my bathtub and around it and there were a couple of earwigs chilling in the dark corner by my bed. This place needs to step it up. Will not be staying here again for a while.

I stayed here for one night prior to an interview with Wake Forest School of Medicine. The room was very nice, the bed was huge and comfortable, and the wifi worked well without any issues. Breakfast offered good options (eggs, yogurt, fruit, etc.) and checking out was very easy. The people at the front desk who greeted me were very friendly and helpful answering all of my questions.

My stay at the Holiday Inn was excellent with extremely friendly staff members. Very comfortable bed, great breakfast and nice facliities/room. Able to wash/dry clothes which assisted me greatly since I was doing much travel. I only have good things to say, however, there is no thing that I did not like: Since they needed to clean carpets (which in itself was not a problem, and they even lefet a msg in the room stating that the carpets may be slightly damp due to cleaning them)...... the carpet cleaners ended up going into my room when I was in the fitness room for an hour - this was wehn I had the "do not disturb" sign on my door. You would think that they would be consider enough to absolutely not disturb a guest if the sign was hanging on the door, OR only if there was an emergency. The carpet cleaners just wanted to get their work done regardless. I did not appreciate this. Perhaps if staff of hotel knew this then this would not have happened. And, as said, not really a bid deal, but it's just the concept.

Really friendly staff, nice location close to downtown and off the highway, but quiet. Beds could use an upgrade. Felt like it had a waterproof liner on it that rustled all night.

We stay here often as my father has frequent appts at Bowman Gray Hospital. Staff has always been supper nice and accomodating. This a very busy location. They have an outstanding breafast. We have left items behind and when called housekeeping has found them. They keep items til our next appt. If there is anything negative to say is hallways and rooms smell musty. Otherwise very enjoyable stay. Close to lots of restaurants, shopping, and attractions.
