Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service From the moment we arrived to the time of departure every member of staff was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Would definitely go back. August 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly service and adequate room. For the price paid, this hotel was quite adequate for our needs. It is conveniently situated for a visit to the city of York and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only criticism would be what I consider to be the excessive cost of Wi-Fi in the room. Otherwise, we were satisfied and would probably visit again. July 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes a good weekend Staff helpful and cheerful - rooms clean and tidy, very comfortable. Really nice to have a shower cubicle instead of one over a bath - didn't mind no bath tub. Excellent breakfast facilities - overall a much more pleasant environment than other similar competitive companies we have stayed at. Would absolutely choose H. Inn Express as first option again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express /York A most enjoyable place to stay. Comfortable, quiet and far enough out of York to be free of traffic and tourists. This gave it the country feel and was a definite bonus. July 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful and friendly reception staff Really enjoyed our stay. Room was very clean and bed comfortable. Toby Carvery next door was ideal after a day in York. We asked for a quiet room and got a quiet room. It would have been nice to have soft pillows as I found the pillows very hard, but it wouldn't stop us from staying again, I'd take my own. Park and ride was easy to find and not far away from Holiday Inn Express. Would stay again. July 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean and comfortable stay After a long drive we found our room to be very clean and comfortable. All of the staff were warm and welcoming. We would stay again if in the area. Good value for money. The breakfast was a little basic with a choice of sausage, scrambled egg but was hot and substantial. July 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased. A first stay in an Holiday Inn Express and certainly not a last. Booked the hotel direct 4 days before and got very friendly and helpful service and on arrival. Lovely clean, comfortable room, great easy to use shower and enjoyable breakfast. We used the park and ride service which was less than 1 mile from hotel, this made our journey into York less stressful and was much cheaper than paying for a car park with a time limit. I would highly recommend this hotel. July 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly All we wanted was a bed for our quick trip to York and this was perfect. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who confirmed my request for a quiet room away from the entrance. The room was very clean and obviously recently refurbished. Breakfast was fine if unexciting (bacon would be nice) with very friendly (again) staff. The breakfast area was a little cramped but this isn't meant to be a luxury hotel. The nearby Park and Ride was very useful. June 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall excellance We chose this hotel due to it's proximity to a relative who we had brought back from a wedding in the Midlands and the Toby carvery next door. The reception staff were efficent and very welcoming and the room was superb. We had seen some poor reviews about the breakfasts but we were more than satisfied with the choice and the quality. We were particularly impressed with the lady who kept the tables clean and replenished supplies, our thanks go to her. Overall a very pleasurable experience. Thank you. June 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by friendly staff pleased with the friendly welcome when we arrived, staff very friendly and helpful. Great location away from town centre ,very quiet no traffic noise. Excellent choice of breakfast, actually helped me to eat healthily. Cleanliness of room was good as was the dining area. Easy free parking. Would recommend this hotel for short stays. June 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay This is an ideal place to stay if visiting York. The hotel has been refurbished and the room was spotlessly clean. All staff, reception, breakfast and cleaners, were extremely friendly and helpful. The Toby Carvery situated next door is ideal if you do not wish to eat in town. The park and ride in Monks Cross is 1 mile from the hotel and ideal as driving into York is not advised. June 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and excellent value Very clean, good breakfast, recently re furbished room, great staff. June 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not suitable for family with children When we booked the hotel on line everything looks fine. As we had 2 small babies we phoned the hotel on numerous occasion just to make sure there was 2 travelling cots in the room and this was promised as we never stayed in Holiday Inn express before. Arrived at the hotel staff very welcome and said about our stay and said our room no which was on 1st floor, as we had 2 babies of age 18 months and 7 months we ask where the lift were and the staff said sorry No lift here, staff offered assistant with carry stuff up the room. Went into the bedroom had double bed, put up bed and 1 travelling cot instead of 2! As the weather was nice outside we decided to open the window but there was screw on the latch which meant we couldn't open its. Staff came up to give us extra cot and open our window with screw driver! Bathroom door wouldn't shut properly, had shower for the kids instead of a bath which we couldn't bath them. Went out all day before our last day arrived back in the hotel went up to the room but we couldn't access its as the swipe card wouldn't open our door, went down stairs to ask the staff to reset it's, manage to get in the room and found nobody been there cleaning it's for us which mean no clean towels, no tea/coffee/milk supply, rubbish still in the bin, not happy at all. Offered to move room but wasn't worth the hassle with 2 little ones and we were leaving the next day anyway. Complain to the front desk staff when we were checking out and offered only £20.00 back!!! They said to us very sorry and if we need a room next time with children that we have to make a request before we book, but we wont go back there again for sure. May 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff & great service Stayed here for the may bank holiday weekend. We had a slight problem finding the hotel but instead of using the hotels postcode in your sat nav try using the Toby Carvery restaurants post code . Its right next door to the hotel. Staff all brilliant. Rooms good all you need in them . Could be doing with free wifi . Breakfast was good stocked up all the time. Location not to far from the city centre but use the park and ride facility at the retail park only £2.60 per person return. Would definitely stay here again May 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff friendliness I cannot praise the staff enough, from duty manager to cleaners, we were made very welcome by the friendly team. May 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My stay at the Holiday Inn Express York Good location for visiting the City of York, located approximately 3 miles from the city and 1/2 mile from the "Park and Ride"...Take this as parking in York is very expensive and the road are very congested. The hotel has been recently refurbished, the room was very clean and that also went for the bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful, if a little slow, plus didn't recognise I was a "Priorty Club Member" until prompted. The is no free Wifi, which would be a big problem if I had been on a business trip. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable chose. There is not restaurant for an evening meal, but you can order "Take Out" and eat in the breakfast area or visit the "Toby Carvery" which is on the same site. All in all, I would recommend this Holiday Inn Express. April 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, but room too small Good value for money, but the room was quite small for a family room, two adults and two children. It was fine for two nights but that was enough. However it was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was great too. April 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family of 4 I must say that we have just stayed in this hotel march 2013, the staff were great and the rooms were lovely. Will be returning again. April 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely room The room was great with comfortable beds and a good selection of tea and coffee. Breakfast was superb but it was very crowded and we had to wait for a table to become free. The website stated that there was a bus into York every 15 minutes: this was a complete lie! There was a local taxi firm that was extremely efficient and it was £8 per journey into York. April 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by What you'd expect, but pricey! Staff were very courteous as you'd expect from a Holiday Inn. Room was a bit too warm, but easy to adjust the heater. Great roll-in wet-floor shower room for wheelchair users. Breakfast area was a bit too cramped. Only problem was the extremely high price for this type of accommodation. April 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I was lost the guidance for driving to hotel is not good. I was totally lost. the hotel itselt and the staff were good. April 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tourist visit An excellent hotel well located for york. Would recommend using the nearby park and ride to get into the city centre. Very good service. One down side is the parking at the hotel - limited not enough for each room. More space outside the next door carvery if brave enough to leave your car there! April 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet and Comfortable For a couple of days tourism in York, this hotel fitted the bill perfectly. With the Toby Carvery 50 yards away evening meals were no problem, the park and ride only a short trip away made getting into York easy with no parking problems. The staff were very helpfull and abligeing. March 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Expectations Exceeded I have already emailed comments to the York Express Holiday Inn because my experience of staying there for one night was exceptional. Fantastic friendly greeting from the receptionist, beautifully clean room, excellent breakfast with attentive staff and a warm goodbye by the cleaners. You should be so proud of the great Yorkshire welcome everyone gave us. A large group of us stayed, I come from Leeds many came from Scotland and Suffolk. I was so proud that York Holiday Inn showed what Yorkshire people are all about! The taxi drivers who were recommended by the receptionist and who took us into York and brought us back couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks for a great stay. March 26, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by POSTCODE ALERT! The hotel is fine but do NOT set your Satnav to the postcode given on the website which you will find is the middle of a field. The hotel is at YO32 9TG (not YO32 9TE). The staff at the hotel know this to be so but told me nothing could be done about the website or the printed stationery - both of which carry the wrong address. Common Holiday Inn Head Office, prove them wrong! March 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very comfortable We had a very good stay and found everything to our satisfaction. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would like to get some of the dark wallcovering for my own home if you would like to let us have stockist. It would look great in my alcove. This is our third visit to this hotel and shall definitely come again March 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service never stayed at aholiday inn before but on arrival the welcome was as if we were family the staff were very proffessional and made us most welcome the room was excellant and very clean unlike some of their rivals, the breakfast was plentiful the whole expreience was excellant March 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family Stay As a family we hadn't stayed at the Holiday Inn Express so we had no idea what to expect. It was excellent value. It's close to a Park and Ride into the city, in a quiet area and all in all with great staff we'd give it 100%. Clean rooms, small but functional. Book early as this hotel was full during school holidays and we took second last room! February 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fawlty Towers I was expecting John Cleese and Prunella Scales to appear. When we arrived my partner wanted to use the toilet in the reception area and was advised to use her mobile phone to find her way around inside the toilet. The bulb needed changing. In the middle of the night a man entered our room, his card had been programmed with our room number, it would appear that the receptionist (maybe Manuell) made a stupid mistake. When I visited reception to ask for an elastoplast to stop my thumb bleeding I was told "I am sorry I cannot give you one due to health and safety reasons, you might be allergic to the plaster" I was shocked at the stupidity!! The receptionist eventually gave me an elastoplast to stop the bleeding. Will she now lose her job for contravening health and safety regulations? In the middle of the night I had to ask for some better pillows and was informed that the new ones were on order. The management need to manage!! February 24, 2013
