We travel cross country often for both business and leisure. This has been, by far, one of the best hotels we have had the pleasure to stay in. This includes other Holiday Inns from Maine to Louisiana, and other chains from coast to coast.
The room was what I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express: clean, comfortable, and inviting. The breakfast was also on par with other HIE: fresh food and good variety. What made this particular HIE outstanding was the service. From check-in to check-out, every staff member went to great lengths to be of service and make us feel welcome. This was especially appreciated by my disabled husband. When he would go get us breakfast, a staff member held each door open for him to get through with his power chair, literally through to the room door. They also provided trays for him to bring me some breakfast while I worked.
I cannot recommend this property enough and will be back very soon to enjoy some more of their hospitality!

The hotel was a lovely old historic building and the rooms were spacious and clean. My only nitpicky comment about the bathroom was that I only got shampoo and lotion. At other Holiday Inns, you usually get conditioner and bath gel as well. Since I travel with few supplies, these would be nice to have. The check-in staff in the evening was great and very helpful. I did have a package to fedex to my office in the morning and she told me I could leave with the front desk and they would call FedEx to pick up - the package was ready to go. The morning staff confirmed that they would call FedEx to pick up my package - this was on a Friday morning. Did not get the package on Monday and on Tuesday, called the hotel only to find the package was still at the front desk and no one had called. I coordinated long distance and finally got the package on Wednesday. If the staff is not trained to handle these simple transactions, then they should say so. Don't usually complain as I usually have a very good experience at Holiday Inn - maybe it is just this one.

I stay a lot at Holiday inn Express properties. Many of them ate top notch. Some are just OK.
This one was between top notch and OK.
The milk at the breakfast bar was spoiled and the gravy was sour.
There was no shower curtain in my room. They didn't see to concerned about either of these things.
Also there was no shampoo in the room. They has substituted it with extra conditioner.
Too bad considering the area was really quaint.
