Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience Until the Last Two Hours The hotel has very nice facility and amenities. Majority of the staffs are friendly and helpful. The location is a little far from downtown Bar Harbor, but not a big concern for us. It's all going well until the last two hours. In the morning of our departure date, we loaded big luggage in the car, went down to the restaurant for breakfast. Went back up to the room, and found out it was all cleaned up and ready for the next guest. And that was an hour before the 11am check out time. Everything we left behind got thrown away. Some of the little things we could buy again. But the Junior Ranger book our son worked really hard on couldn't be replicated on the day we were about to leave. When we checked with front desk, we were told that it's impossible to find the stuff they threw away. You can imagine how upset my son was. To make it worse, my husband decided to take a shower around 10:30am. The housekeeping staffs were pounding on the doors and extremely rude, as they wouldn't want us to use the room any more. ALL before 11 am and before we checked out. Now I have an unhappy son AND an unhappy husband. When talking to the front desk, they made it sound like we were stupid not knowing their express checkout policy. There were no sincere apologies. I hate to give bad reviews. So I made the last try a week ago to call the Holiday Inn customer service. The service rep was very courteous. And promised that she'll ask the manager to contact us within 48 hours. Now over 200 hours have passed, no phone call yet. Extremely disappointed at the customer service of the used to be our favorite hotel chain. I'll think twice before I book with Holiday Inn again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice location and view Was a nice hotel. Had an issue with room assignment but staff very accommodating and room was switched. I would recommend that if you want ocean view get a 2nd floor and up room. The first floor view is very obscured by buildings and foliage. Breakfast was very good and so much to munch on that it would carry you thru lunch. The cable TV not great-had HBO but very snowy. Did not really bother me as nothing good on anyway. The free internet access very slow. The 3G on my phone much faster September 10, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Do not recognize Priority Club Members We called ahead of time asking to check in slightly early and we were given a hard time about it, despite being Platinum members of priority club. Upon check in several other guests were checking in with no problems. The front desk didn't recognize my status, offered no perks and no upgrades. I stayed at this hotel a month prior for work, we had to leave town early due to an illness in a co-workers family, the hotel showed no remorse and charged us for all 3 rooms even though we were checking out before checkout time, but it was a day early. The hotel was not full by any means. We stay there frequently for work - not quite sure why with so many other options that appear to be better. This "resort" doesn't have many amenities. We hoped to use the gym while we were there but found the equipment to be old, not great and in a dirty room. Most recently while we were there for the weekend, after returning from a wedding at 10:45 we found the bar closed... who closes a full hotel that early at night? There were several other weddings staying there. Overall not satisfied with the hotel and would recommend checking another one with more amenities and better customer care. September 10, 2014

The room we had was overlooking the bay and had a nice terrace. The entire hotel is well kept and the staff is very nice and helpful. It is located about 2 minutes from Acadia National Park and 5 minutes from Bar Harbor village. Highly recommended!. September 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful We enjoyed a fourth floor king bed with ocean view room. The view and the room was excellent. The noise from the restaurant air conditioning was a slight negative. We were told in advance of the noise and we were given the opportunity to change rooms. We enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean. Wish we could have stayed longer. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stewmans is tacky Even though it's casual, serving wine in plastic is very tacky! And eating with plastic in an establishment of some class is unacceptable. I also couldn't help but notice that the elevators were not vacuumed for three days! Care and cleanliness in the public areas was lacking......this was my second stay, and it was disappointing. The Bella Vita restaurant was again top notch, first class menu and great execution from the kitchen. Service could be better, I don't wish to be addressed with" you guys", Madam and Sir will do fine. September 6, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed, poor service at front desk I have worked in a hotel previously and when I guest notes a special occasion on their reservation, the front desk representative should acknowledge it. We were honeymooning and our reservation was for a King sized bed. We were given a tiny corner room with a Queen sized bed. The bed itself was uncomfortable. The room had a balcony that is accessible through the slider window only, Yes, I said window! Needless to say, we did not go onto the balcony. A water view was requested and we received a nice view or the parking lot and tennis court... The amenities of the hotel were great however, minus the cleanliness of the hot tub. There were several balls of hair floating around which deterred me from getting in. The restaurant staff was not very pleasant either. When I asked to get a coffee alcoholic beverage, they referred me to the pool bar in the rain. We left after that. September 5, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Use for sleep This was out base of operations while at Acadia and Bar Harbor. Once there, use the shuttle bus into town, the park, and other seaside towns. No car is really needed unless you want to explore more distant or isolated parts of the park. Parking can be a challenge if arriving late. Lot was very full every night of the stay. As for the property....a resort it really isn't. A hotel with a spa it is....though we didn't use the spa. No time. We used the property for sleeping and showering with breakfast at the well done, although pricey buffet. Our room was reasonably comfortable despite feeling a little "moist" due to the inlet-side location. In totality, it was a typical aging HI property.... September 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful relaxing location with fab view We came last year for 3 nights, not enough, this time 5 days not enough either. After a long journey we were able to go down to hotels own lobster pound and eat dinner by the water. We didn't need to drive for the rest of our stay as the shuttle buses took us into Bar Harbor and connected with others covering the whole island. We took a bus each day and jumped off for a walk in the National Park, and lunch by the water. Took a Whale watching trip and saw 2 real close, next time we plan to take the Lighthouse tour. Lovely pool and jacuzzi to relax in, I even sneaked an early dip before we left. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in Bar harbor so you can snack or fine dine, and the shopping is amazing. A great location, and hotel just does everything right, as usual. September 2, 2014

We had a wonderful time, the Hotel is in a great location with plenty of amenities. We would stay there again. September 1, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unforgettable view with incredible staff Norman at the front desk started off our amazing 3-night stay at the hotel with a super friendly hello. The room was spectacular, the pool is large and perfectly heated and the hot tub relaxing. Norman gave great advice on where to go in the area (the town of Bar Harbor itself is nothing great...lots of tourist shops), where the closest hoops were for my son's bball addiciton, and where to hike at Acadia (do NOT miss Beehive if you don't mind a challenging hike). We requested a blow up bed and extra pillows, which came soon after the request. They also provided tennis rackets and balls so we could use their tremendous courts. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and had lots of great stuff. Wish we could have stayed longer. My whole family loved this place. August 31, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice place terrible staff Overall it is an average hotel. The food in the restaurant is very good. The location and bus service is convenient. The room staff was friendly and did a good job cleaning our room. The front desk staff and restaurant staff were very very bad. They were not well informed about the hotel and were not very friendly or accommodating. I also had an issue with a bar bill that was charged to our room that was not ours. They did remove it after finding their receipt and seeing that my name wasn't even spelled correctly. Their process of charging to the room is very flimsy and you should be careful when checking out and look for charges that are not yours. Though the hotel was nice especially for kids, I don't think I can recommend the place. I would not stay again mainly because the staff was that bad. August 30, 2014

We got a room next to dumpster, when we asked the front desk staff to change the room they offered to change it the next day. But we did not bother because we were anyway out of the hotel, exploring Acadia during most part of our stay, so it did not matter much. But I would say, room was okay, not very good. We loved the breakfast buffet and view from restaurant. We will definitely stay at this property next time we visit Acadia but will make sure to book "Ocean View" room. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great view would come again I would highly recommend spending extra for the ocean view. The view out the back and by the pool is amazing. We had purchased the breakfast package which I would not recommend. We purchased it based on other recommendations viewed on this site but the over all service and quality of the food and coffee was very poor not worth 15.95. I would also recommend not using the facility for dinner, again the overall service from the wait staff was very poor and the food was ok but not worth the price. The Harbor Bay in town which is affiliated is much better. I would recommend coming again as the view and pool side view was amazing and it is away from the busy down town but close enough that you can visit it quickly. August 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to Stay Holiday Inn Bar Harbor is very conveniently located. About 5 minutes from the town and 5 minutes from the entrance to Arcadia Park. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating. The grounds are very laid back with beautiful views. One wish or suggestions I would provide to the hotel is - since the evenings are so beautiful from the weather temperature standpoint, it would be great to sleep with windows and balcony doors openned instead of the AC - however, because there are not sliding nets on the windows or doors, its hard to keep mosquitos out. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice resort, super easy access to downtown. We loved our stay at the Bar Harbor Holiday Inn Resort. An older property that is making some headway on updates. Common areas are updated, but rooms are not. That being said, the rooms were clean, quiet and beds very comfortable. Just what we were looking for. The shuttle bus that runs downtown is a huge plus for the property! Was a bit tricky to find the lobby as the Holiday Inn sign is 1 driveway past the main checkin area, sign titled the Regency Resort. August 27, 2014
