The bathroom ceiling obviously has a problem with the ac leaking and has been patched repeatedly and horribly. The carpet was too gross to walk on without socks or slippers on. On the upside, at least the bed was comfortable. March 23, 2015

We cruise a lot, and we use the cruise and park package program many times. this was the first one that was excellent over all! No problems at all, everything was wonderful! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Loud band, couldn't sleep Our room was on the 5th floor. However, after going to bed we started hearing loud music. We had slept about 4 hours the night before because of traveling so we (me, my husband, and 2 yr old) were extremely tired. So, I called the front desk to ask if they could hear it too. (I thought it was a car outside with a loud stereo.) However, they informed me that it was the live in-house band and that they were going to play until 1:45 a.m.! We turned on the air conditioner fan and turned the volume on our sound machine up all the way to drown it out but it didn't work. We could still hear the bass pumping through the walls. My husband called downstairs several times to ask them if they could turn it down and they said they could talk to the band. After several calls, the situation had improved by about 2%. The band had probably turned the bass down one notch but it was still pumping through our walls. So, until 1:45 a.m. our fatigue continued. The hotel ended up giving us a partial refund but I have never experienced something so absurd at a hotel. We paid to sleep! I wouldn't have been as surprised at some cheap motel (although it still would have been insane) but this is the Holiday Inn and the Holiday Inn is VERY proud of their hotel. How can you charge people to sleep and then hire a band to keep them up until morning? In addition to all that, we ate dinner at the restaurant after we checked in. The hostess asked us our room number then had no record of us on her chart. The restaurant was EXTREMELY cold. We were very uncomfortable. The food was just ok and the service was very slow. Also, you have to read the fine print on the kids menu to see if your child eats free. They don't mention it. The only positive I can say about the Holiday Inn in Galveston is Ed the shuttle driver. He is fantastic! He is extremely friendly and seems like he thoroughly enjoys his job. It was in the 40s-50s and windy when we arrived and he hurried us inside out of the cold while he happily brought in the luggage. It was a pleasure meeting him! March 13, 2015
