A Window that cannot be locked up
There's a window in my room facing the busy street that won't close. The front desk sent someone to fix it but after he left, I realized that the window won't lock up. I tried many ways but there [More] will always be a gap and the lock doesn't work. I did not call again because it was getting late but I slept with all the noise coming from the street. The breakfast has such a poor selection of food and people who clean the table did a poor job. [Less]
A huge area for improvement
By Lausbub49
The room didn't smell very good, even being a non-smoking room. The light at the desk didn't work; the handle of the water tab leaked. The lighting in the bath room is not very bright. If you want to [More] shave you better know where to shave, because it's very difficult to see it in the mirror. You can't open the window; therefore you don't hear the noice of the street. The vending machine was empty at 10 pm. If you want to have a drink - drink water. The breakfast is very poor compared to other hotels in Shanghai, but the fresh coffee is very good. The waiters in the breakfast room don't speak any word in English. The same problem you have if you decided to eat one of the few dishes offered for dinner. Be careful when you ask for a taxi, because the guy from the hotel offers you always a "fake" taxi which is much more expensive than a normal taxi. And for a "real" taxi you have to wait.... [Less]
Friendly Staff

Staff could speak sufficient English to assist with anything I needed. Rooms are common for China business style. Breakfast available but geared toward locals, not a Western buffet [Less]
Wonderful location and buildings

The hotel is located at the central downtown of Shanghai that is the main reason I choose it. [Less]
Nice hotel!
By Thomas2015
Only choice when I came to Shanghai - Nice hotel and staff are friendly. I came just after coldest week of Shanghai and shower took a little be longer to get hot water out, but it could be [More] understood. Taxi is still issue in rush hour. [Less]
Beautiful atmosphere
By LauraM46
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We most appreciated the setting of the hotel in this beautiful home and garden from Shanghai's history. The rooms were comfortable with a lovely view over the garden. [More] We stayed in the club section of the hotel and had a fantastic breakfast there. We definitely will return to stay here next time we visit Shanghai! [Less]
Friendly staff and laid back experience

Please improve the experience of bath. The temperature was really hard to control [Less]
Great Location and Awesome Staff
By jakelinbh_6
The location of the hotel is just excellent! The hotel is quite new but the staff are really well-trained and helpful. They even did the night bed for me just because I asked once if there is the [More] possibility. Only few steps away from metro station which brings you directly to city center(Jing'An Temple)and railway station within minutes. Rooms are great and clean regarding HIE standard. However it might be a little problem as the metro trains pass right outside your window and it can be a little distracting in late-night and early-morning. [Less]
