It has to be said the value for money of this hotel is excellent for Tianjin for the room itself. Can't emphasise that enough. BUT:
I had unresolved problem regarding the first and second room I was
given smelling (the first of rotting vegetables, the second of smoke), and third being two single beds rather than one Queen-sized. I'd lost the will to try a fourth at the that point so ended up just staying put.
Is in a tired, tatty room that was woefully forgotten when the guest rooms were refurbished. Is serviced by bored, (probably under-paid) staff. Food selection is aimed towards Chinese (some mornings there is a nice vegetables with tofu option) rather than European, though there is a toast machine for the defrosted white bread on offer. If you're lucky, some mornings there will be jam and butter provided. There are two decent coffee machines, but what comes out of the vat of 'hot milk' (if you like your coffee white) is like water that someone has cleaned their paintbrushes in. Some mornings there is brown sugar available.
So a good value hotel in a good location (is great for buses), comfortable rooms that feels safe, but be prepared for some trade-off for the price you pay in some short-comings. [Less]
