Madrid may be the capital of Spain, but it is a dynamic cultural capital as well. With museums renowned the world over, stunning architectural reminders of its royal past, and a nightlife to rival all others, you'll find enough to do here to fill several trips. For prime access to all of the city's best sites, book a room at one of our boutique Madrid hotels, where our attentive staff will ensure you're rested, relaxed, and ready to embrace the day.

Begin your tour of Madrid in Museum Triangle. Here you'll find the Museo del Prado, which houses one of the most extensive and respected art collections in the world. Spanish, Flemish, Dutch, Italian and German masterpieces are all on display. The nearby Reina Sofía National Museum and Art Center is a must for all Picasso, Miro, Kandinsky and Dali fans, while the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum of Art features work by Monet, Goya, Renoir, Degas and Van Gogh, as well as more Picasso.

Outside of the artistic sphere, other notable museums and centers include the Museo de América, Museo de Lazaro Galdiano, the National Archeology Museum, and the Planetario de Madrid, which together feature historic colonial artifacts, fascinating archaeological finds, and of course, the stars. Or, if it's royal glory you see to explore, don't miss the Palacio Real, once of the largest palaces in Europe and the current setting for many state ceremonies.

The best way to get outside in Madrid is to explore the city's many plazas, which feature stately clock towers, bustling markets, intimidating statues and regal architecture. Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel and Plaza de España are all well worth a visit. Alternatively, El Retiro Park, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Parque del Capricho and Rosaleda del Parque del Oeste are all excellent choices for a picnic or a stroll.

If you're looking to exercise that credit card, Madrid's shopping scene won't disappoint. Check out El Rastro or the Fuencarral Market for homemade goods, street performances, clothes, shoes and accessories. Alternatively, head to Las Rozas Village Chic Outlet Shopping for some great steals on designer duds.

Culture vultures, sports fans and nightlife lovers will find much to enjoy in Madrid. Indulge in the romance of a flamenco show, take in a world class performance of the Spanish National Orchestra, cheer for the dominant Real Madrid football (soccer) team, or catch the hottest band at any number of clubs and bars. The nightclubs are abundant here, as are the many tapas bars, featuring small bites with every drink. If you're looking for something a little more substantial, head to La Latina neighborhood for some satisfying eats. Look out for Gallinejas and Entresijos (a lamb dish), Callos a la Madrileña (hot pot tripe) and Cocido Madrileño (chickpea stew) for a taste of the region's specialties.

Madrid is easily reached by bus, plane or train. When you arrive, ensure you've got a welcoming smile to greet you by booking into one our boutique hotels in Madrid. Here you can kick up your feet in style while enjoying close proximity to all of the city's top sites.

Clean, comfortable and quite
By mastromacro
Excellent service from check-in to check-out. Room was clean, comfortable and quite. I liked that there is someone from the hotel overlooking the common space during breakfast. [Less]
Comfortable bed and great service.

Comfortable bed and great service. Only issue I faced was missing restaurant and variety of breakfast. [Less]
Good Hotel, lot of noise
By JoseCg
I have stayed several times on this hotel. The atmosphere is great, rooms are clean, but there is a lot of noise because of permanent traffic over National I highway, only 300 mts away from the [More] hotel. There's no enough protection agains the noise and it's difficult to sleep sometimes, when south wind comes. Wifi has a variable service, sometimes it doesn't work correctly. Definitly, competitive price, but far quality of sleep. [Less]
Comfortable bed and clean room.
By Sivarose
We will come back again. It is a nice and quite location. The staff are polite and good service. It is value for money, except the hotel shuttle should be provided 24 hours as the other hotels. We [More] like Holiday Inn every where. [Less]
Good value

Room very clean. Hotel staff very polite and friendly. Free shuttle to the airport. It could be better if a power plug adapter available for borrow. [Less]
Excellent hotel in Madrid
Holiday inn Alcala is a gem of a hotel at a very reasonable price in Madrid. It has excellent transport connections to the centre and to the airport and is located in a typical Madrid neighbourhood [More] within reach of excellent restaurants, bars and also the usual high street shopping brands. This is always our first choice when in Madrid. [Less]
Free parking, friendly staff
By G5OO
Good price and quality ratio. Free parking. Hotel is a bit worn but will do the job. They have good IHG members recognition. I got even a sheet of paper during the check-inn which perks I have in [More] their property. [Less]
Good value and friendly and helpful staff
By MAK AuL
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The staff were great and helpful. Overall, the stay was comfortable although not luxurious. The bed was comfortable and I slept well for all 3 nights that [More] I spent at the hotel. The carpet in the room was a little tired with a cut just inside the entrance of the bedroom. The TV was ancient (CRT) and with a very poor picture quality. But otherwise, my stay was fine and as I said, the staff were great. [Less]
Nice but No Self Laundry
By Nat'strip
I liked the convenience of the Alcorcon train and metro station to the hotel (5 min. walk). However, the food options are limited to the restaurant next door and the food places in a mall that is 5 [More] minutes from the hotel. The biggest issue with this hotel is the lack of self-laundry. We asked if there was an on-site self laundry and was told there was. We found out there was laundry but it was not self laundry and it was very expensive. One undergarment was 2 euros! We washed our clothes in our room. It made things a bit difficult! [Less]
