As a cultural and scientific hub, Newcastle upon Tyne has reinvented itself into a cultural hot spot built for the modern era. This makes it a fascinating destination, where an industrialist past and Victorian architecture intersect with trendy coffee shops, innovative art displays and experimental theater. Discover all this intriguing city has to offer when you stay in one of our well-appointed Newcastle Upon Tyne boutique hotels.

Once considered a sleepy corner of Northeast England, Newcastle first became a thriving city during the Industrial Revolution. Explore this history and even more at the Stephenson Railway Museum and the Great North Museum, which also contains fossils and mummies. Or, if it's art you crave, the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the Hatton Gallery and the Shipley Art Gallery provide an ample dose of interactive and modern displays. For kids and kids at heart, the one of a kind National Centre for Children's Books is an excellent look at this beloved art form, both classic and new.

For a breath of fresh air, stroll along the River Tyne, or simply take a walking tour around this highly pedestrian friendly city. On your wanderings, be sure to stop by Northumberland Street, the Old George Yard, Grainger Market, Eldon Square, the Metro Centre or the Royal Quays for a good shopping session. From from high end boutiques to department and outlet stores, the Newcastle shopping scene is undoubtedly one of the best in the Northeast.

When the street lamps light up and your stomach starts rumbling, you'll be spoiled for choice in terms of cuisine. Italian bistros, Asian buffets, chic cafes and wine bars offering elegant nibbles are all just a short stroll away. Combine your culinary adventures with a trip to a pub or club in the Bigg Market, Central Station, Quayside, Ouseburn or Jesmond areas to sample the local world famous beer or a trendy cocktail. Alternatively, a night at the theater is always an excellent option. The Theatre Royal, Journal Tyne Theatre, Live Theatre and People's Theatre always have something good going, from experimental shows to stand-up comedy and more.

Business Bed

I arrived late at the hotel and was away straight after breakfast, however I had a lovely clean and comfortable room and although I did have some problems accessing wifi that didn't affect my stay. [More] Breakfast the next morning was as expected from a Holiday Inn, being plentiful and quick. My stay was paid for by my company but I would consider it value for money and would certainly book again when in Newcastle. [Less]

Good Hotel and Courteous Staff
By EI_Londoner
Had a decent stay. Room layout was not the best for mirror to get ready with. Pillows were uncomfortable. Room was clean and tidy. Internet access was good. The one bar meal I had was fine...it had a [More] vegetarian option. Breakfast was fine but a cooked alternative for vegetarians would be nice and probably needed to be a little bit more on the ball with topping up the food trays. [Less]
Good but room for improvement
I visited recently with a friend whilst on a motorcycling weekend. Check in was fast, staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast could have been better if the bacon and sausage had not been so [More] dried out even though we were practically first in the restaurant. Dinner was very nice and served efficiently even though they were quite busy. I'm not impressed with the design of the new shower rooms as the walk in shower dominates the room leaving room for a small basin with a large mixer tap that makes it very difficult to wash. My only other gripe is that our room was not serviced for our second day, which was irritating but not worth making a fuss about at the time. All in all I would have no hesitation in staying again and recommending to others. [Less]
Good price

On a Training Course nearby
By helpdeskmanager
I needed something reasonable but, most importantly, quiet in the evenings because I needed to study for the next days training. This hotel fitted the bill - didn't need to ask for any special room [More] - all rooms quiet it seems. Could have done with a choice of maybe simpler and cheaper dishes on the restaurant menu - other than burgers that is! [Less]
Good pool and sauna.

Good pool and sauna. Opening time to pool good. Minor issue with bathroom fan on all the time but could not hear it with the bathroom door shut. [Less]
Holiday Inn - Gosforth Park (Seaton Burn)
By elmarno61
This is a comfortable hotel but there is no lift, so if guests have mobility problems ask for a ground floor room - we did for the return journey home. The staff are very helpful and attentive. They [More] welcome feedback and when told about problems try to resolve them quickly. Room service is excellent. Rooms are large and beds reasonably comfortable. Room temperature controls easy to understand. Main restaurant is very pleasant. Breakfast has superb choice - the latte coffee is great. Would be good to have staff show new guests where to find things but overall very helpful. [Less]
