Close to Times Square and Comfortable Room
By ma1954
My husband and I have stayed in New York City many times either for business or to enjoy the City. Holiday Inn Express was a pleasant surprise, with a comfortable bed, nice breakfast items and the [More] ability to have drinks all day long from there breakfast area. The front desk staff is usually a representation of how your stay will be and the staff was so excellent, that it made it a pleasure to deal with everyone at the front. I cant say enough good about the stay. The only negative for me was that I had to shut the air off a couple times, because I was too cold. Can't really complain about that though. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We are well traveled and have stayed in the best hotels and some that are not so great. This was an excellent stay. [Less]
Great stay in NYC
By SpiffySkipjack42
I had some maintenance work going on at my apartment close by and lost electrical power. I've always used Holiday Inn Express for all my travel out of town, so they hooked me up quickly with a [More] room for the night. Quiet stay and very comfortable room, both bed and AC were great. Location is close to Times Square but there isn't the usual high foot-traffic on that street (39th) so you're close by but not in the noisy part of the area with traffic noise and bright lights. It's quiet and calm with TSQ just around the block. [Less]
Cleanliness
By TonyRD
The hotel was extremely clean. The breakfast was as good as any outside vendor, even better. [Less]
Clean and great service
By Sher66
The hotel is staff provides friendly and professional service. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are sort of small and the lighting could probably use a night light feature if you [More] have children. Another feature that could enhance your stay is a small refrigerator/cooler. There are no microwaves in the room however, there is one in the restaurant area off from the lobby. The operating times of the restaurant should be posted at the front the desk. We planned to have lunch in the restaurant and after arriving discovered it was closed between certain hours on Sundays. The hotel is located near the airport however, depending on the flight path there was no noise from arriving aircraft. The hotel is near several outdoors shopping malls that have plenty of restaurants, clothing stores, fast food stores and even Costco. No problem finding some place to eat or shop. [Less]

Bed and pillows comfortable. AC/climate control probably best I have ever experienced at a hotel. Room clean and in excellent condition/well-maintained. [Less]

Great room - rude night manager
By Quiltlady 24
Loved the room. I was small but very comfortable with everything we needed. The night manager would not help me find transportation for 4 am except for a expensive car service. He told me all cabs [More] had private numbers (I found one online). I thought his unhelpfulness quite rude. [Less]
Great Location
By AdmitOne
I booked this hotel by mistake. As its wi-fi states this hotel would be more accurately named "Herald Square HIE" I was not happy that the staff thought it was hilarious that I was so sweaty after [More] walking around the city (waiting to get a room assignment). The room was NYC SMALL. I normally take photos of my hotel room but it was so small and I had waited so long to get into my room that I didn't. But, super close to the Empire State Building, Herald Square, Grand Central Station, and a quick walk to Times Square. [Less]
Excellent staff at Front Desk

At check-in, the HIE personnel really set the tone for a pleasurable stay in NYC [Less]
