    Neighbourhoods

    Explore our neighborhood.

Riding along the scenic St. Charles Streetcar Line into New Orleans’ Garden District reveals distinctly different worlds sharing shade under the same oak trees. Victorian homes with manicured English-style landscaping sit next to rustic, working-class cottages in a stunning collision of lush gardens and diverse cultures. The streetcars, which are officially designated as National Historic Landmarks, connect many of our neighbourhoods in exactly the same way they have for more than 150 years, helping our community celebrate all the forms of contrast that seemingly flow freely around this iconic bend in the Mississippi.

    Garden District Tours

Explore one of the world’s most dazzling residential neighbourhoods to experience the architectural splendor of the live-oak-tree-lined “American” sector of town, and examine the antebellum-era “Creole vs. American” conflict.

The Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world — why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today. Designated by Congress in 2003 as the America’s National WWII Museum, the campus showcases a large war artifacts collection, D-Day exhibits and a 4D theater showing the Tom Hanks production Beyond All Boundaries.

    Tipitina’s

What started out as a neighborhood juke joint in 1977 now hosts the likes of B.B. King. Tipitina’s features a variety of live music, from brass bands and jazz to country to rock ‘n roll and was created by a group of young music fans for musician Henry Roeland Byrd, known for his unique style of fusing rhumba rhythms with boogie-woogie and blues.

This unique eatery is housed in a former full-service corner grocery store from the 1800s. For more than 10 years, La Petite Grocery has echoed its heritage by providing the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee and fresh produce. Made-from-scratch Louisiana fare highlights the menu for lunch, dinner and brunch. Cardamom-Mascarpone Cheesecake, anyone?

    Clancy’s

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the building on the uptown/river corner of Annunciation and Webster has been either a restaurant or a bar—often both—serving the uptown neighbor. What started as a bar in the late 1940s is now a pristine, white table, formal dining restaurant. Clancy’s serves classic Creole cuisine, which is as appealing as it is delicious. Reservations are recommended.
