As we knew the hotel was under renovations we were still very happy with the service that was provided.
Thomas was fabulous dealing with the many personalities he encountered and always with a smile. Omar gave us great tips for places to eat. The staff was sympathetic to my needs for extra blankets, since my men liked the room below freezing.
Martha, the executive housekeeper, is a woman of many talents. From picking up trash to using a leaf blower. Her staff was wonderful at taking care of us.
Our room was finished with the remodel, however I could tell that the design team were mostly male, haha. The shower had no shaving bench, so at 45 I had to call on my flexibility skills (not pretty by the way), the toilet paper shot off the holder several times rolling across the floor ( good thing I was where I was at cause I laughed really hard), and the fabulous sink was designed for someone 5'9" not 5'4". So ladies of my height you can guess at my shocking expression when hit with cold water brushing my teeth while bending over.
Oh and no heat lamp, since I said earlier my men ( husband and son) liked the room freezing you can only guess at my surprise at the temp difference from exiting the shower.
This is by no means a bad review, mostly a funny tale of our vacation to DL.and DCA.
If you have a chance to stay there I hope you have a fun time and make excellent memories.

Very pleased with this hotel. It is in a great location and just a short 10 minute walk around the corner from Disneyland. Luckily we were able to see July 4th Fireworks at Disney from our room. The newly renovated rooms were very nice; comfortable beds, clean bathroom, and larger safe for laptops. Unfortunately the renovations of the hotel were still going on and there was no swimming pool. I will certainly keep this hotel in mind when visiting the Anaheim area.

Although currently the hotel is undergoing renovations, the rooms have already been upgraded and are nice. The pool was closed for our visit :-( as was the lobby, but the hotel was quiet, close to theme parks, and had a good breakfast.

Our stay was short unfortunately only 3 nights, loved our newly refurbished room and outstanding service. Definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.
Although renovations were taking place, we couldn't hear any noise and we were very comfortable.
Staff members were very accommodating and pleasant. We arrived 4 hours before check-in time and our room was ready so we didn't have to wait to check-in. One of my favorite hotels, will definitely go back again.

Was not affected by the renovations although could not use the pool, however could have used pool in hotel next door if i wanted too. Only complaint with room is that people walking in room above makes a very loud noise, enough to wake me up from deep sleep. Staff were great and made my stay enjoyable and heklped me out.

My sister and I spent 3 nights here and spent most of our time at Disneyland. Although hotel is under construction, it did not infringe on our vacation. They were very accomidating and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. The rooms have hardwood floors and are decorated nicely. When the place is finished, it is going to be such a wonderful place to stay.

The hotel is under construction which we didn't know until checking in. There should be a bolded header on the IHG website so customers can be aware of such things. My kids were really sad they could not go swimming.
While most HIEs do not have great breakfast offerings, this hotel's offerings were horrible. Runny eggs, dry biscuits and gross bacon. To make things worse, the pancake machine was broken.

My trust in HIE has been violated with this stay. We were not informed of the major renovations taking place during this time when I called to book a room. IImagine my surprise upon arrival to find concrete chunks, nails, plastic drop cloths, dust, and paint fumes everywhere--except in the rooms, which were beautiful--. Everything else was in a disarray...including the pool, which I asked about specifically during the booking. Now that I am aware that this situation could arise again, we are rethinking staying at HIE again in the future.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dominic2994 Under construction, great staff and great rooms!
I arrived in Anaheim after a 6 hour drive and found the hotel thanks to the Holiday Inn sign out front and the construction since the hotel had warned me about the construction. I parked my car and they had signs that directed me to their Front Desk which was a table that would be moved later on to another easier to find location near the entrance. The staff was awesome! They were apologetic about the construction and you could tell they really wanted to help out with your stay. They provided my girlfriend and I with water and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies which were delicious. We were given our parking pass and one of the employees directed us to exactly how to get to our room.
We headed up the elevator and arrived on the 4th floor and the ground was covered with plastic to protect it while construction was completed. Not a big deal at all to me. We entered the room and the room looked fantastic. There were hardwood floors, a good sized flatscreen tv, and a great big shower with a shower head and a hand-held shower head as well. Everything looked fantastic. The only thing that I thought was a little weird was the faucet, it is almost like the faucet is not long enough and should extend out more into the sink because it's hard to keep the water in the sink bowl. That too, is not a big deal though.
After a long drive my girlfriend and I decided to take a nap before going out for the night to Downtown Disney, and the beds were by the far THE BEST beds I had ever slept on in a hotel and I almost prefer it to my bed at home.
The next morning we were planning to wake up around 8 oclock to get a start in the morning and grab some breakfast and head to Disneyland. Unfortunately, we were awoken around 7 am all 3 days of the stay because of the construction. Why they decided to start working that early, I'm not sure, but I definitely think they could start at a more reasonable time like 8 or 9. But, I simply turned on the air to give a little white noise and placed a pillow over my head and got some more shut eye for another hour. Then we headed to breakfast and was surprised by the selection compared to other Holiday Inn's I had stayed at. I went with the super soft bagels, cereal, and cinnamon rolls, and juice. They also had eggs, bacon, yogurt, toast, muffins, and more that were all tasty as well.
In reference to Disney, it is a very quick and safe walk, probably about a 10-15 minute walk and I consider it a great location to Disney.
Overall I would recommend the hotel, it is a great looking hotel on the inside, the staff is great, and if you want to go to Disney this is a great location. I talked to the staff and they said there is about another month of construction to be done so around beginning of July, so after that you are staying at a beautiful Holiday Inn on the inside and out. The construction should not affect you if you are going to be out during the day as they were always finished by the time I arrived back to the hotel

Obviously there is ongoing construction, however, it won't be a Holiday Inn Express once construction is complete. New shower requires you to get blasted with ice water from in the shower pipes when you shift from the "wand" to the shower head....really is uncomfortable to get that ice shot. Can't recommend if it's not going to be a Holiday Inn Express as I don't know how much it will cost or what will be offered.

This hotel property was under construction. I can forgive that. I travel in IHG properties a lot. I want to check in get settled no my work on line and have a good nights rest. The internet did not work. They were willing to credit me for 1 night but I chose to leave and pay for that night.
they also offered to move me to the hotel property next store which was on the same internet system. When I inquires with that property about there internet 2 of there own guests were complaining to the hotel lobby attendant about the internet outage. I move to another property 1 mile away and everything was fine.
The bed was very comfortable which matters. Although I don't care about this next point others might... the room décor didn't seem to go together but everything was new. The bathroom was clean and in good order but again not really the right décor flowing with the rest of the room.. The price in the Disney land area was really good but you began to understand why when you stayed there. Not having usable internet cant work.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lucy1 Renovations a major issue.
Sadly, I must recommend to others NOT to stay at this location until ALL renovations are COMPLETELY DONE!! The staff was professional, friendly and apologetic (I felt badly for them having to apologize all the time for their circumstances). This hotel should not be open right now. When I told them this upon my check out and requested a rate reduction due to the conditions, I did get one which I appreciated.
At time of our stay, the construction was advertised on their website to end at 5pm. We timed our "rest" for that time but gave up and left at 5:45pm with the hammering still going on. Again, the staff was apologetic and said it "should stop soon."
The rooms renovations are done and they are clean, but nothing else is. The hallways were a mess during our 2 night stay - dust and debris everywhere, the carpets were loose with no base boards. There was also the aroma of paint throughout the hotel. The A/C units are also not working well.
The new rooms are not carpeted and I was told they won't be. Unless you are on the top floor you will hear your neighbors walking around above. Each door closing/slamming sounded like an earthquake, maybe because there is no carpet to help absorb the noise. Because of the floors we may not stay here again - they are simply uncomfortable. I don't understand putting laminate flooring in hotel rooms.
Again, do not stay here until you are promised that all construction is done!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gp15 Not clean terrible breakfast
Room had dust everywhere . We found the toilet with red stains. Pajamas under the bed. Old coffee grinds in the coffee maker. Too many issues to list. The breakfast room was also dirty and not enough food. For milk there was a gallon that people would pass around. Not sanitary at all. Terrible stay. We have pictures of the filthy conditions. Spoke with manager on duty and nothing was resolved. We are really disappointed with the quality. This is not what we expect from a Holiday inn express. For the price that we paid we did not get any rest. I can send the pictures of dirt in our room, elevator, hallways, and garage. Our bathroom was missing the mirrors. Light switch did not have screws and the room smelled like paint. The hallway carpets had many ripples, the door stoppers where sticks. All of these items are not safe for children or people with disabilities. I would like a regional manager to contact us to see who is really in charge. Our keys were cards from the Ramada not even Holiday inn. Really bad experience at this hotel.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nathan7769 Its Under Construction
I chose this hotel because of how close it was to Disneyland. No one mentioned to me that the hotel was having major construction. The rooms are done but the reception area and breakfast room were uncomfortable.
The guest room is a whole different story. It was newly refinished which is great except for two major things. The grout on the sink wasn't sealed right and little black bugs would run off the sink into the crack everytime you tuwn the light on. The other thing is the room wasn't level. You could take a tennis ball and place it in the far corner. It would begin running towards the door as the room is on a slope. How could this be acceptable? I mentioned the problem to the front desk and they made a note.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jimc911 Great staff and new rooms look great
Although this location is undergoing a major remodel, I had a great stay here. The staff were welcoming and very concerned about making my visit a satisfying experience.
I had a few noise issues. I was on the 4th floor and a window across from my room door was missing. This allowed pool noise from an adjoining hotel and early morning garbage pickups to be irritating. Most of the noise issues were from unthinking parents and their kids running down the halls and yelling before 7:30am and after 10:30pm.
The wood flooring that was installed will be a problem for anyone not staying on the 4th floor.
The new room decor is great and the bathroom is fantastic.
I and other guests had problems with the elevator. It forgot which floors were requested when multiple selections were made.
I stayed here because of the easy access to the Disney parks. You can walk easily, walk to the corner of Harbor & Katella and catch the ART or walk just west of the hotel to catch the ART.
The route #2 ART that stops nearby is infrequent and runs twice an hour. If you walk to Harbor & Katella, you are likely to catch another bus every 12 minutes and the next stop is the transportation center at the parks. This hint was passed to me by an ART driver. Coming back on #2 is fine, but you have to wait until the last stop.

After reading a few of the reviews regarding the construction that will continue until May, I had my concerns. I called the staff prior to our arrival to voice my concerns about safety and noise and was given the option of being re-booked at a neighboring Hotel and keep my priority points. I was assured that the rooms were all done, new, and clean. So, despite my concerns I decided to keep the reservations in favor of a clean room. I travel a lot. What matters to me is soft clean towels, comfy beds, cleanliness, and quiet. All that was apparent as soon as we checked in at 4pm. This was a weekend trip to Disneyland(only a 15 minute walk from hotel) and I figured that if construction was happening during the day while we were at Disney anyway, there would not be an issue. I'm not sure if the weekend was less noisy, but we did not care about the construction going on and noticed no objectionable noise from guests or anything from the 4th floor room. The only 2 minor issues we really had was the lack of parking for all the guest as a result of construction and the paint smell in the hall. So, my advice is pick a good parking spot when you check in, and walk everywhere when you are there if possible because at night, most or all parking will be taken. We booked the 2 queen beds with pullout that accommodates 6 people to maximize our costs. Although a little tight, our family managed fine.
I can not emphasize how great the staff was. I appreciate great customer service when I see it and I realize the extra stress that these individuals go through on a daily basis to satisfy guests during the remodeling. Cheers to the staff for making our short stay great and I hope that they will continue when the new hotel is done.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by trainersteven Great Customer Service that's the ONLY Thing
I will have to agree with a few of the other reviews, about the rooms, if you can sleep through ANYTHING this place just might be there for you, if you have even have the slightest trouble go somewhere else, the rooms have all been updated very nicely BUT they installed wooden type floors, guess what? you can hear every noise from suitcases, to kids, to walking around to EVERYTHING it echos from room to room, 1 elevator at front of property all rooms on back, pools closed due to the fact of the remodel to a Indago so it will look nice once its done but again hotels should be for relaxing and sleeping, not hearing every neighbor to your left and right, up above you, AC is not always working to stay on and cool your room, just like other reviews have stated, location to Garden Walk is just a very short walk, Downtown Disney about 25-30 brisk walk not to bad but you have to wait at crosswalks sometimes for awhile and pass a few buss stations where people beg you for money, Customer service they have a decent staff, 1 younger lady tries very hard a few others I believe have just about given up from all the complaints, the GM she is trying but I just don't believe this hotel will survive this process, So if Noise is your thing this is the place if quiet, comfort, relaxation is it choose another place

My stay in Feb 2013 was during renovations. The staff contacted me well before my arrival time to let me know that they would be construction during the day and gave me the opportunity to change hotels. I chose to stay.
The lobby and most of the grounds were under various degrees of renovations but the rooms were complete. The rooms were updated (I previously stayed at the same hotel in 2011) and have a modern upscale feel. Bedding and pillows were very comfortable. HVAC is now digital controlled which I like very much.
Two minor complaints - the hardwood floors make sound travel - so I could hear a fair amount of movement from the floor above me. It wasn't unbearable but I imagine being very noisy if the occupants were a family with small children bouncing about. The second was the bathroom sink - upscale bowl and faucet looked very nice, but the water flow was very close to the bowl which caused water on the nice counters while brushing teeth and washing my face.
Last but not least - the staff. The staff went above and beyond to mitigate any disruptions during the construction. I will definitely stay again and look forward to seeing the final product.

Was Disapointed. I booked a Holiday Inn express + When I got there I found it was being renovated, and converted to another brand. The Place was a mess, and dirty. the room was uncomforatable - didn't like the hardwood floor. There were Jack Hammers first thing in the morning. There was no indication upon booking, that this was going on. If there was I would have booked somewhere else. I used rewards for this stay, and for 25,000 Points I was a little upset, about what I got. I could have stayed somewhere much nicer for that price.

Our recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Maingate, Anaheim was a great experience where we stayed for 5 nights. Though the property was undergoing renovations it did not interfere with our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was very spacious, clean with comfortable beds. The free breakfast provided great variety and the location was just a 15 minute walk to Disneyland Resort. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The control for the AC was not functioning. The AC went on and off on its own. The visual clarity for the TV was fuzzy, except for the Spanish Speaking Channels. Tremendous construction going on doing the day, very noisy, so was not able to rest or think in the room doing the day. Hardwood floors being installed, which is not good if you have a room below another room. We could hear the person walking around the room above us at 2:30 am. No fitness center at this location.

Nice hotel near the Anaheim Convention Center and Disney. Actually walking distance. Friendly staff and pleasant check in and out. Room with small TV, Ref and study table. Small pool at the back with vending machine. There is a lift in the building. You can see the nightly fireworks of Disney at the hotel around 8PM. There are restaurants around 60 meters on the corner where they serve italian and chinese dishes on one side and California Pizza on the other corner of the hotel. The breakfast is good. Bacon, Eggs, Muffins, Pancakes, Bagels and Fruits were served.
Kind of pricey though as there are other inns and hotels nearby.
