I travel a lot for business, and I know what the general flavor of chain hotels is like. Hotel Indigo was really different. The design, the amenities, everything was spot on. Mostly, though, what struck me was the openness and friendliness of the staff. As a PR representative I know how important this is first hand. I would describe the hotels employees as exemplary in the way they treat their guests. During my Asheville stay, they were more like individuals who took ownership and pride in their facility than just hourly employees. They seemed to enjoy their jobs, and took pride in the Hotel. It was refreshing. My room was to die for--I could have had a party in the roomy and pristine shower, and the extra touches, like the filtered water and high end soap and shampoo were a joy. I'll be staying again.

From the moment you arrive you know you are in a special place. Everyone is so nice and informative. They make you feel incredibly welcome. The lobby is lively and fun. The bright and comfortable bar is in the lobby and they have some very nice cocktails. The bartender was very helpful with suggestions about different bars downtown. The rooms are amazing, with awesome floor to ceiling windows which allow for fantastic views of the city and the beautiful mountains. We stayed in a penthouse suite and it might be one of the best hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. The rooms are extremely modern and sleek. The bathroom is by far the nicest hotel bathroom I have seen. Absolutely huge. The shower is as big as some hotel rooms! The location of the hotel is also perfect. Easy walking distance to all the great restaurants, bars, and shops. It is an amazing city! We loved the Hotel Indigo. This is where we will always stay when we come back to Asheville.

Wife and I stayed two nights (Mon-Wed) and had an enjoyable experience in downtown Asheville. The hotel really fits in with the eclectic art scene. Walked to shop and eat everyday, and just a short drive from everything else. Running in the Montford neighborhood was a treat, and the exercise room was larger and better maintained than most hotels/motels I've been in. Had corner room on 8th floor with view of mountains, Grove Park and the freeway. I've lived in cities before, but I would have slept better if there had been better sound attenuation built into the windows, or at the least a noise maker for the light sleeper. Also, a refrigerator/microwave would definitely make the room comfort score a 5 rather than 4. The large entryway makes it feel more like an apartment, however as noted in another review, it does sacrifice room on the far side of the king bed as there is a structural beam in the wall that you have to scoot around to get in bed on that side. Bathroom is wonderful, with a huge walk-in shower. Loved it. Definitely would come back.
