Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Broken lift and overpowering vanilla smell! Every city I go to with an Indigo, I try and stay there as I love the brand. First time in Birmingham however and there were more cons than pros in this visit. I know some are fixable hence me still recommending this and I will try again the next time I am there. So, with only one lift working, you waited FOREVER to get anywhere. Staff at reception on level 7 were not as friendly and welcoming as those up on level 25. Felt like 2 different hotels. Downstairs for instance, rather than a 'good afternoon' when I arrived, I got 'yes?' Upstairs staff were so different. Very friendly, helpful and professional. The stairs between 24 and 25 for some reason stank of BO but then in my room, there was such an overpowering smell of vanilla pumped in. I couldnt sleep because of this every night and felt like throwing up. Some people love the smell, I know its me, but did it have to be so strong? I therefore did not sleep well at all on any of the nights. The positives however, lovely restaurant and breakfast area with great views, wonderful staff upstairs and really liked the design and furniture. With less vanilla, fully working lifts and more pleasant staff downstairs, it would have been a wonderful stay. Fingers crossed for next time. October 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dont Do It If you want to sleep don’t stay here, Staff were great, noise is ridiculous, the rooms are below a champagne bar, the music was so loud you could hear the words never mind feel the base, we complained, then we complained then we complained again, We then got moved to the floor below to a shabby room with restricted views but at least we could sleep. Breakfast was average but by no means special. Spa was good nice pool steam & sauna rooms. Staff were good but fighting a losing battle with the noise. Room design is like an upmarket budget Hotel. So don’t do it‘s just flawed, what a joke for a hotel. We won’t be back October 23, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 1 Night stay in Birmingham Indigo One of the best nights sleeps was had in a long time. The Indigo is well placed for dining out and the view from the room was a very pleasant surprise...loved the floor to ceiling windows. Front desk staff very helpful and IHG membership was recognised. I would return again when in Birmingham. Just a shame about the parking costs and having to park in the Cube car park October 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Enjoyed a great stay at the Indigo Birmingham. We used the SPA facilities, ate at Marco's and stayed in a King Balcony room. Service and facilities in the SPA were excellent. Food and service at Marco's was good. Room was tidy, spacious and clean. The room designs are a refreshing change from the usual. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay -would recommend. October 22, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Do not pay for breakfast at this hotel The overall stay was average it was spoiled by the poor quality of the breakfasts and the poor service, we would return as the hotel was in a good position, There were other small problems dealt with by the staff who were very pleasant, There are only two lifts and one of them was not working throughout our stay which caused long delays, be careful when parking it is not cheap to park your car around this area, I would recommend this hotel but as I said do not pay for the breakfast experience October 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Great location and experience I visited hotel Indigo with a group of old uni friends for a get together. We defiantly picked the right place to be central to shops, bars etc. We loved the design of the rooms and had a lovely relax in the spa before we headed out for dinner. We ended our night at the roof top bar, which seemed to be the place to be.. Great atmosphere, great music, leaving us with a smile on our faces as we finished off our night. The only fault we found was that the music from the roof bar echoed down to the rooms, hence why the ear plugs were provided!! October 16, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Detail let it down We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate my sisters 40th birthday, we specifically chose the hotel because of the spa. Rooms were nice but as the title suggests the detail let it down. For example, the rooms has obviously serviced but the maids left their cleaning equipment in our bathroom, so on arrival back from a lovely shopping trip we had to contact reception to have the stuff taken away. (Contacting reception took ages too as no one answered the phone after 3 attempts on the Saturday afternoon!) , one lift was out of service and considering reception is on the 7th floor and all the bedrooms and MPW restaurant is on the 23rd, 24th and 25th respectively, this was somewhat of a problem when the hotel got busier on the sat and sun. I think we spent on average 10mins each time waiting for the lift.... Our room was fresh and vibrant and had a great view, but the detail was lacking, at some point the bathroom door had obviously been removed to have a bit off the bottom shaved off.... But the maintenance team had obviously failed to repaint the bottom of the door so it looked a bit shoddy! And it's definitely missing a decent jacuzzi in the spa.... 3 jets of water into the main pool and a small seating area do not make a great jacuzzi!!! So all in all, a pleasant stay, nice receptionists , I would suggest a little overpriced for what you actually get, but I guess that's because the location is very good. October 16, 2014
