Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Crudgfc Restaraunt was dissappointing.
I found the overall experience at the Indigo in Edinburgh good and of the standard I would expect as a Platinum Priority Club member.
The service offered by the reception staff on my arrival was particulalry good and they should be complimented on that.
I was however dissappointed at the service, menu and staff in the restaraunt.
Despite taking my seat after 7 o clock I was not offered the al la carte menu simply the very very limited pre theatre menu. Not knowing any better I didnt query this and only realised there was an alternative when I saw another guest ordering from the al la carte menu. If I had seen it I would have ordered my starter and main course very differently. I was allowed to re order my main course but was made to pay the full menu price whereas I thought that because of the inconvenience (I had to wait some half an hour for my main course) I may have been offered some discount on the price. The standard of the main course I ordered was however very good.
The staff overall were not responsive and seemed to have too many other things to do other than attend to diners. They were not rude but offered little in the way of an apology which left a sour taste.
I realise it is too late to do anything about refunds but this may give rise to a training issue for the future and a refund of some Priority Club points may be appropriate in the circumstances.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mezzie123 Really great little hotel
Warm greeting at reception. Bed very comfortable with crispy sheets. Clean and tidy. Only downside is our room was quite small, but the lovely comfy bed made up for that. Just a small watch out if you are planning on staying here in the near future - they are building tram tracks out the front and while there was zero noise we could hear, be sure to ask your cab driver to drop you at the Conan Doyle and walk to 1 minute - rather than the 15 min walk we did from the other end.

Thank you very much for our stay at Hotel Indigo. It was made to be a fantastic stay, as myself and (at the time) my gf got engaged at stirling castle. When we arrived at the hotel they asked if we were staying for any special occasion and said we just got enaged, they passed on there cogratulations and also upgraded us, which was fantastic of them :). Also showed us to the room, explained everything and after about 15minutes of arriving they sent us a slate plate that had starwberries, shortbread, meringues, raspeberries, brownies which was just superb. We couldn't have asked for a nicer hotel, and would definently stay here and i have recommended it to alot of people. We will definently stay here again when we come back to edinburgh, all the staff were very helpful, very polite and was just a great hotel to stay in. They made our engagment that even more enjoyable :). Thank you.

From the moment of arrival, nothing was a problem ! Altho' a previous guest, we were shown to our room-luggage was already there! ALBERT is a gem! He could not have been more helpful. If only every establishment had an Albert! Food was excellent. Breakfasts prepared to order with quality and choice. Dinners -first rate- and not your usual conventional choices! Young lady in dining room was particularly professional. All in all, a first rate hotel-and opposite a fantastic theatre and cinema!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jeni174 Outstanding new hotel experience
First time I have stayed at this hotel and was an outstanding experience. Excellent facilities, staff welcoming and very helpful (even when I arrived from airport after 10pm). Excellent value and room was wonderful. Huge bedroom, at front of hotel over looking the street., however very quiet. Large ensuite bathroom and lovely toiletries. Only down side was the tram works that closed off the whole street outside, so taxi's pick up and drop off about 200yds from hotel. Don't let that put you off as the hotel is excellent and totally recommend it (plus the tram works won't last forever).

We had a lovely stay at this hotel in October 2012. We were greeted by the most informative concierge who still told us what was going on that weekend in Edinburgh even though we've visited many times before. Showed us personally to room and showed how to use the television and air conditioning. The bed was very big and comfortable and the complimentary soft drinks and snacks mini bar were much appreciated. I would definitely stay here again. On arrival the room wasn't ready but we had a drink in the bar which was very comfortable and again the complimentary nuts were a nice touch. Check out was hassle free.

On a business trip and was pleasantly surprised. Room was extremely comfortable, relaxing and of a high standard. Staff were very pleasant and service was excellent. My wife would have loved it and she is extremely demanding....would stay on a personal visit. Also very handy for the city centre at an extremely affordable price.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was first class.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The best Holiday Inn chain hotel that I have been to and as a platinum rewards member I have been to a few!!
Get the rest of the chain to get the same pillows!
All the staff were very friendly and excellent at their individual jobs.

Excellent hotel with very nice rooms and a very comfortable bed. Helpful staff even when rushed at breakfast time. Breakfast is traditional and of a high standard and is currently included in the price, unlike the irritating trend of charging extra, as in many other hotels.
Short walk to the old part of town and to the main railway station.
Excellent pub at the corner of the street if you don't want the hotel bar.
The extensive tram-way construction is through out Edinburgh and goes down York Street in front of the hotel as well. This is an issue for taxi and car drop offs at the moment. Once the tramway is finished the hotel will have excellent city transport link close by.
You will have a very pleasant time at this hotel, with a very modern interior and a listed exterior.

Our first stay in The Indigo Hotel Edinburgh and it lived up to expectations.
Excellent reception staff from our initial booking to leaving the hotel. Even rang us before our visit to explain the transport chaos in Edinburgh due the the tramlines being constructed.
Would recommend this hotel and restaurant.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by amanitaphil But for the trams works, it is a gem!
The staff and hotel fittings are superb. Location is great and it will be better if and when the Tramworks ever finishes. Only negative was that the elevator is slow and even that is not a big negative. Allowed plenty of time for reflection. OBTW, English walnut doors and floor were an excellent touch.

We held a family gathering at the Indigo in Edinburgh and we were impressed by the whole experience. Have used them before in the USA and the UK and this one was the best I have used.
Highly recommended both for service and location as we included a visit to Phantom of the Opera at the Playhouse Theatre.

We picked Hotel Indigo for our stay in Edinburgh after a great experience and its sister hotel in Liverpool. We were therefore expecting good things at the outset but our stay in Edinburgh far exceeded expectations. The room and decor was fantastic, the staff brilliant and the food great. The hotel location was only 10 minutes from the station and city centre and very convenient for our bus connection from the airport. How they can provide this level of service at the price I have no idea but I would not hesitate recommending this to anyone and next time we are in Edinburgh this is where we will be staying. Just couldn't fault it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Deb77 Great room and service
Booked at short notice and having read that some rooms can be noisey requested a quiet room. When i checked in I noticed that the room I had originally been allocated had been changed so the hotel clearly acted on my request. Room was very nice indeed, very comfortable bed and desk which meant I could work easily which was very important to me. Modern and sleek bathroom. Big tv and charging panel for phones, iPads etc which was a nice touch. Reception staff extremely friendly and more importantly helpful. Would thoroughly recommend.

Good Points : -
Lovely clean and modern looking hotel
Rooms are a reasonable size.
Bar area is bright and clean
Was met from the car and guided back to the hotel
Bad Points :-
Problem is it's like its been done on a small budget, in my room the Air Con didn't seem to work
TV had a loud whislting noise
There was water running which I got up twice to see if my shower was on.
In the morning breakfast was a shambles and I only ended up with half of mine even though I was asked twice what I wanted. If it wasn't for a young lad who jumped off reception to help I don't think anyone would have had theirs.
There's a lot of work going on outside the hotel but it didn't cause any issues with access nor with noise.

Absolutely stunning hotel, great location, great staff... Apart from the breakfast staff!
Day 1... Continental Drift slow! Forgot some of what we ordered and then some items weren't available.
Day 2... Can you get slower than Continental Drift?! Again, items forgotten along with one of the breakfasts!
Sort yourselves out Hotel Indigo... You potentially have a 5 star hotel on every level except for the breakfast service...

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean well presented room. Although the food is excellent, you may feel the main evening menu is a little restricted if eating in the restaurant several times during your stay. Because of the ongoing tram line construction work in front of this hotel it’s not possible load/unload your car is at the hotel entrance, but don’t let that put you off. Access to the main shopping and sightseeing areas of Edinburgh are within easy walking distance as are the train and bus stations.

Really enjoyed my two night stay a couple of weeks ago. Room was well appointed, with lovely toiletries in the bathroom, and joy oh joy, a mini fridge in the room with cans of cola, biscuits, water etc and FRESH milk instead of the usual longlife stuff. Tea and good quality coffee, hairdryer, robes and iron/ironing board. Had a little bit of trouble remembering what Albert told me about how to use the remote. No problem, the young lady on reception came up to the room and went through it again. Jen from Sunderland on reception was a wee star, very friendly. But all the staff were nice. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and cooked fresh to order. Would love to have tried the afternoon tea but my brother didn't have time to join me, perhaps next time! If I had to nit pick, the room would have been a tad cosy for two. And in the room I had there was a continual tapping noise all night. Not sure if it was the air conditioning unit or just because it was an old building. Would definitely stay there again, and will be looking out for more Indigo hotels in other cities. Oh and the roadworks are a pain, as taxis can't get parked outside the hotel.
