Absolutely stunning hotel, great location, great staff... Apart from the breakfast staff!
Day 1... Continental Drift slow! Forgot some of what we ordered and then some items weren't available.
Day 2... Can you get slower than Continental Drift?! Again, items forgotten along with one of the breakfasts!
Sort yourselves out Hotel Indigo... You potentially have a 5 star hotel on every level except for the breakfast service...

What can I say? my overall exeprience with the hotel was Fantastic!!
Well laid out, very modern in design and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, modern and well laid out and the bed was extremely comfortable.
All the staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and very polite from those working on the reception, to the bar, to the restaurant. I thank you all for making my stay pleasent and stress free!
The only food I ate in the restaurant was breakfast but this was excellent too!

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean well presented room. Although the food is excellent, you may feel the main evening menu is a little restricted if eating in the restaurant several times during your stay. Because of the ongoing tram line construction work in front of this hotel it’s not possible load/unload your car is at the hotel entrance, but don’t let that put you off. Access to the main shopping and sightseeing areas of Edinburgh are within easy walking distance as are the train and bus stations.

Really enjoyed my two night stay a couple of weeks ago. Room was well appointed, with lovely toiletries in the bathroom, and joy oh joy, a mini fridge in the room with cans of cola, biscuits, water etc and FRESH milk instead of the usual longlife stuff. Tea and good quality coffee, hairdryer, robes and iron/ironing board. Had a little bit of trouble remembering what Albert told me about how to use the remote. No problem, the young lady on reception came up to the room and went through it again. Jen from Sunderland on reception was a wee star, very friendly. But all the staff were nice. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and cooked fresh to order. Would love to have tried the afternoon tea but my brother didn't have time to join me, perhaps next time! If I had to nit pick, the room would have been a tad cosy for two. And in the room I had there was a continual tapping noise all night. Not sure if it was the air conditioning unit or just because it was an old building. Would definitely stay there again, and will be looking out for more Indigo hotels in other cities. Oh and the roadworks are a pain, as taxis can't get parked outside the hotel.

Hotel is in an excellent location, with friendly staff and very comfortable rooms. Great bar area and although we didn't use the restaurant it was busy on a Friday night. Loved the coffee machine and fridge with complimentary drinks/snacks, and the bathroom toiletries, slippers & robes. We will return!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Corb2000 Fabulous accommodation and great service
Our first stay with the new Hotel Indigo brand and a great success from start to finish. We arrived late and a member of the reception staff did an Olympic sprint to guide us firstly to the parking space we had reserved and then to the hotel.
From this helpful and friendly start, we had a great stay right through to checkout and beyond, (my wife having left expensive perfume in the room and housekeeping posting this to us afterwards).
The interior design of the hotel is very attractive, our room being the most appealing of any chain / brand we have stayed in, being very well equipped, comfortably contemporary and spacious. Notably, the ventilation and aircon units were very quiet in their operation and indicate the attention to detail that has gone into the design and specification of this hotel.
The public areas were comparatively small but again very attractively designed and they worked fine even on the busiest of the three days of our stay.
Breakfast was of excellent quality and offered a good if slightly limited choice. Service was generally of a high standard and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The small bar was also a pleasant venue for afternoon tea, which had a creative twist in both it's presentation and taste, offering a convenient and interesting alternative to more established venues in the city.
Finally, the hotel's location was just right as we had easy walking access to the New and Old Towns as well as a wide range of bus routes passing right outside the hotel.

Contemporary styled hotel with attention to detail. Comfortable beds in quiet rooms. Friendly staff and good food. Great pub, The Conan Doyle nearby, also recommend The Magnum a short walk away. Very central to main attractions and would stay again. Only downside is parking at NCP.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ginge51 no breakfast and OK hotel
My patner and I chose this hotel due to its location and also as it offered a full scottish breakfast at a additional cost with the hotel. The location was great but sadly surrounded by road works that we were not warned about by the hotel staff it took over an hour to find the hotel carpark through the road works and when we finally arrived we were told there was no water on for the next hour but with no explanation to why. 2 hours later without being informed by the staff the water was back on and could finally freshen up for our night out. The next morning when going into the dining room for our scottish breakfast we were informed there was only a continental breakfast avalible as there was a problem in the kitchen I asked if breakfast was going to be on the following morning and was assured it would be. The next morning again there was no breakfast which was very annoying and disapointing that the staff could not just have told us this in advance so we could of made alternate plans. The staff were mainly very polite and helpful yet some were not so polite. The hotel was a lovely hotel just unfortunatly we experience problem some not down to the hotel but due to the lack of information given sadly made it an unpleasent stay.

In our recent trip to Edinburgh, my daughter and I enjoyed our 3 nights at the Hotel Indigo. The front desk staff (Daniel and Arthur) were gracious and greeted us with a smile and welcoming words. They made wonderful suggestions for evening entertainment and gave even better directions. The city is installing a light rail which will run in front of the hotel making it even more convenient and provide a great alternative to the city bus for airport transportation. The rain shower is rejuvenating after a wonderful day in the city. Our room had a nice seating area where we could plan our day and enjoy our tea, And the bed was the most comfortable bed we slept in during our 10 day trip. I wish the staff member who took our take away breakfast order would have told us that the bus does not allow beverages. It was too hot to drink and then we had to leave it at the stop. Very sad considering that the coffee is outrageously priced. The wi-fi worked great.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Yorkie Wheelchair facilities
There is an exterior lift which will take wheelchair users to the basement were you can get the lift to any floor of the hotel. Ramps on the ground floor gives easy access to the restaurant and bar area. Room was of sufficient size without being too big. The height of the bed is more than a standard bed so you will need to use your upper body strength to get on and off.
Bathroom was large and had a wheel in shower. Parking is about 400yds from the hotel and with a steep hill to negotiate would prove difficult for a lone wheelchair user.
Very friendly and helpful staff.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jay01 An Absolutely Fantastic Stay
For more years than I care to remember I have travelled extensively on business and for pleasure staying in hotels around the world but not once have I ever felt inclined to write a review on a hotel until now.
From the moment I telephoned the hotel prior to arrival to arrange booking a parking space right up until our stay ended the staff could not have been more helpful, welcoming and attentive. It was without a doubt the attitude and customer service of the staff that made this one of the most pleasant hotel stays that I have ever experienced.
The room, along with the entire hotel, was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel.
The food in the restaurant, both for breakfast and an evening meal, was lovely along with excellent service (notice the trend here?).
Being a new hotel there were a few small teething problems with attention to detail which are to be expected but this was far outweighed by the positives and the effort of the staff to rectify these immediately when pointed out.
The only down-side to our stay is that my wife enjoyed it so much she wants to return and I don't think my wallet could survive another shopping spree in Princes Street!
An overall good quality and value hotel with excellent staff that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and when we return to Edinburgh I will not even consider staying anywhere else.

Service, from check-in to check-out, was outstanding. The room was very comfortable and quiet, with excellent facilities. Centrally located and ideal for visiting the city centre, this hotel is a bit of a gem in the area. I will definitely stay here again.

This fairly recently opened hotel is superb, the team have got it just right
From the minute you walk through the door , the friendly greeting, prompt check in, advice on what to do, where to go , even storing your luggage is done with a smile!
The decor is great throughout the hotel and it is immaculate, the rooms are very nice, with everything you need and the beds are amazing
Food in the restaurant is great as is the service
We were a party of 8 and not one of us could find a thing to complain about just praise all round
Thankyou for a great weekend

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AliG Surprising Gem in the midst of Edinburgh's ongoing roadworks...
As usual I had left it late to book but was happy to find Hotel Indigo. A great surprise to find an individual, top quality, reasonably priced, non corporate hotel with good quality service. Albert did his best with directions to parking but the ongoing tram works made it a real mess. Lucky i know the city and was able to find my way but for first time visitors i would say book with the hotel parking (they have limited spaces) or leave the car at home!
Only suggestion would be to make the parking situation (ie book with hotel or use nearby local car parks etc) a bit more obvious...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Skehacrine Nice hotel in a great location
Stayed for three nights on Reward points at the height of the Edinburgh Festival.
Very nice spacious room with high ceiling as the hotel was originally three Georgian townhouses.
Very comfortable bed and bedding and the rainfall shower was great.
The minibar was stocked with some complementary non alcoholic drinks and snacks. I don' know id everyone gets this or just Priority Club Platinum members, but it was a very nice and welcoming touch.
There is free wifi too, however the speed is just 0.25 Mbps.
Nothing really bad to report. Staff were efficient but not overly helpful, the people before me checking in asked about information on the Edinburgh Festival and was told to look it up on the internet. My partner saw a stack of copies of the Festival guide book in the reception area and gave them a copy.
They took a preauthorisation of my credit card on check in, which I've never had as a Platinum member before.

Booked hotel back in May just after the opening as it looked ideal for a few days to explore the City . I had booked the "restricted" hotel car park and also checked with the staff the afternoon before my arrival that the space was booked, as I was arriving late from St Andrews. Unfortunately when I arrived teh hotel staff said there had been a mix up and my space I had booked and checked on had been gioven to someone else and I had to park in the NCP behind the hotel. They did say they would reimeburse me the difference between NCP and their own car park. They did this upon check out however it was the inconvienince that I could have doe without especially arriving at 11pm. Other than that the room was superbly decorated but was located at the Basement level so we had a beautiful view of car wheels, and peoples feet when we looked out from the windows.
The Hotel is new and of a very high quality and comfort. There will be some hiccups as with every new business but I would stay there again as it is idealy located and of high quality.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cenk43 First Experience at a Hotel Indigo
A weekend escape with my wife during a two week business trip, we really enjoyed staying at this hotel...Pleasantly surprised to stay at a boutique type IHG hotel as first impression. My priority status was recognized and we were upgraded to a deluxe room. While a bit small the room was nicely decorated with good electric plug options for charging stuff without a UK adaptor. (big plus). We had a few hick-ups like the cupboard light and bathroom speaker not working which were quickly fixed. There were complimentary soft drinks, coffee and tea as well as an espresso machine. (My sincere recommendation is to change to Nespresso) The staff (from bar tender to front desk) were all very attentive and knowledgable which was really the highlight of our stay at this hotel. Keep up the good work! Warm breakfast options were adequate and tasty. 10 minutes walk to The Royal Mile and 15 mins to castle! Overall, a very pleasant stay!

The Hotel Indigo Edinburgh was fantastic, I really can't say a bad thing about it. Excellent location, room, staff - really really nice place to be. I didn't eat there but the afternoon tea I saw some folk enjoying looked tremendous.
It would be nice if the bed was not on wheels on a laminate floor as I had difficulty controlling it.
Only negative was the missing bonus for being a PC Platinum member - even the Holiday Inn Express hotels acknowledge this and give you something, even when on a reward night!

For two rainy, we were in need of comfort, smiles, and recommendations-- we received all of the above. This was by far one of the better staffs I have experienced in recent times. Calming, kind and helpful.
Additionally, they were overwhelmingly helpful in contacting our rental car company and transferring our pick up site to nearby Waverly. That was what put the staff up to five stars. Great people.
Strong breakfast as well. Big and filling for a long travel day. Cannot say enough god things.
