Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service & Comfortable Room I always stay at the Hotel Indigo Galleria when I am visiting Houston due to the large, clean, well-furnished rooms, bright, wide interior hallways, excellent customer service, hypo allergenic bedding, ease of internet connectivity and overall comfort of the hotel facilities. The only con I have is that the entrance is located on a one-way street so if you miss the entrance you have to make a long detour to get back to the hotel. May 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Refreshing hotel! Cute hotel, not too big....very refreshing décor. We loved the corner unit....with the wood floors. It was very clean, with comfortable beds....and nice little kitchenette area. We heard no noise during out stay, with the exception of the A/C....that was a little loud....but not a deal breaker. The staff at the desk were very nice and we got a greeting each time we left or arrived back at the hotel. The restaurant staff was great, too. They had a pretty good selection of goodies for us to take back to the room, as well. We were less than 5 min. walk from the hotel to the Galleria, which was great for us, since shopping is what we came to do. The only thing I would suggest is to have a roll of paper towels for the kitchenette. We spilled coffee and had to use our bath towel to clean it up. Other than that, the stay was perfect and we will be visiting AGAIN!!!! May 6, 2013

All the staff had a big smile on their faces, the rooms were wonderful, and the food was very fresh and delicious, specially the trout dish. I have only 2 observations: I just wish that even the small rooms had a microwave and one of the pillows were a little bit softer. I'll come back to Indigo for sure! April 24, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Improved rooms and service for a good value I've lost track, but I think this was my fifth stay at Indigo Houston. I was happy to see some welcome improvements this visit over my previous stay about six months earlier. Specifically, my 1BR suite now included both a refrigerator and a microwave oven, which as I offered after my last stay makes perfect sense with all the space in the kitchen. This was perfect during my 10 day stay for quick breakfasts or other meals/snacks. The other improvement in the suite was two brand new HD wide screen TVs. That was nice for watching a bit of football. The other improvement was in service. This visit I didn't have to wait as long to be served in the cafe and the response to requests (condiments, water, coffee) was quicker. The front desk personnel also overall seemed friendlier and more caring (there's still one who I've never seen smile). I'd still like to see a few more dumbbells added to the fitness room. It's a pretty sparse collection and some don't have their mate. It would also be nice not to have my room key stop working (it happened three times on this stay). I also had to request soap when I was about to run out instead of Housekeeper adding it proactively. But overall, especially for the rate, the Indigo Houston is a very comfortable hotel and a very good value. I plan to return in 4-5 months. February 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay This was my first stay at an Indigo. The Intercontinental recently sold, so I was in search of a new hotel for my frequent trips to the area. I had a great room that was very quiet and comfortable. This was the most relaxing stay I have had at a hotel in a long time. Love the decor. Clear attention to detail was evident. Friendly staff. Free parking is a huge plus. Great recognition for Platinum. If there is any negative to this hotel it is that it is hard to get to because of the one way streets (easy to get out though). This will be my hotel of choice in the Galleria area from now on. Really love it. January 28, 2013

I find their staff to be extremely professional, friendly, and catering to my needs. The rooms are updated, clean, and comfortable, and the location is excellent with ample parking right next to the Galleria. The rooms are also quiet, and there is very little outside noise regardless of what room you are in because there is a 100 yard drive off of the main road to get to the hotel parking lot. I cannot compliment the staff enough. They do everything they can to make the Hotel Indigo feel like my home away from home. January 4, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by VEHICLE WAS BROKEN INTO IN THE PARKING LOT!! THE HOTEL ROOM WAS HOT! THE DRIVEWAY FOR HOTEL. WAS HARD TO FIND. STAFF WAS SLOW AND NOT INTERESTED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. MY TRUCK WAS BROKEN INTO IN THE PARKING LOT OVER NIGHT. WE NOTIFIED THE HOTEL AND SYLVESTOR CAME OUT TOOK PICTURES AND SAID HE WOULD REPORT IT AND SOMEONE WOULD BE CALLING ME MONDAY MORNING. HE ALSO SAID THERE HAD BEEN SEVERAL BREAK INS IN THE AREA (ACROSS THE PARKING LOT) BUT THE HOTEL DID NOT WARN THEIR CUSTOMERS. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS BEFORE I GOT A CALL ANDTHEN IT TOOK 3 MONTHS (AFTER I CALLED THEIR INS. CO. SEVERAL TIMES) BEFORE I FINALLY GOT AN ANSWER TO THE HOTEL REPAIRING MY TRUCK. THE ANSWER WAS NO THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPAIR MY TRUCK AND IT IS ONLY THE DOOR LOCK THAT WAS DAMAGED. NOTHING ELSE WAS TAKEN OR DAMAGED. SO KNOW I HAVE A HOLE WHERE THE KEYS GOES IN MY TRUCK DOOR BECAUSE HOTEL INDINGO'S INS WILL NOT PAY TO FIX. September 24, 2012

However, I was overchagred for my breakfast by $5 dollars which is unacceptable. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spacious rooms and well-kept property This was our first time to stay at a Hotel Indigo and, overall, the stay was fine. We were greeted and made welcome at check-in and our Priority Club status was also recognized and honored. We found our rooms to be spacious but spare...an area rug on the floor would have soften the "hard edge" of the furnishings, color scheme, and wood floors...also, would have absorbed some of the sound. Cocktails in the bar were OK but service was lack luster. We ordered a cheese plate to accompany our drinks and it was well presented and above average in both taste and quality. We did not have breakfast since the dining room did not open until 30 minutes past the posted time #it was Sunday morning#. The person working in the kitchen began to set up for breakfast at the later time and ignored us the entire time. The desk clerk on Sunday morning was 180 degrees from the clerk of the previous evening. Never spoke, never acknowledged that we were sitting in the dining room...within his view...and never tried to get the breakfast person to notice us. We finally gave up and left...we checked out 10 minutes later and were simply handed our bill...no "thanks for staying with us" or "hope you enjoyed your stay"...no greeting of any kind. We had breakfast down the street at a competitor's hotel...a much better experience. The hotel also needs to do something about signage. It's difficult to enter and exit the hotel drive...appears to be an alley off a busy main street #Hidalgo#. We passed the turn once and had to circle a very long block #nearly a mile of right turns to get back to the hotel entrance#. There is a sign but it's not well placed and tough to see when negotiating heavy traffic on a one-way, 3-lane street...if you're in the wrong lane, you're going to miss the entrance. We would rate our experience as average to disappointing. The facility was fine but most of the staff needs training...we didn't get a sense that they were very customer-oriented. September 15, 2012

The ice machine on the floor was broke and the front desk said the only one working was on the second floor. There was no cold water in the room. As we were leaving we got stuck on the elevator. The hotel only has one very small entry road which is very easy to miss. September 8, 2012

Very cozy comfortable rooms and a caring staff were just what the doctor ordered. Now if Hotel Indigo can make evacuation fun, just think how it will make you feel on a vacation or business stay!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Boutique Hotel Hotel has refreshing nautical theme. The rooms are actually pretty small and cannot watch TV except from bed. (Tv's are old style "flat screen") There is a chair but only as after thought and per IHG minimums, it serves no function as it parallet to TV. It is not a King Leisure as usually experienced at IHG. The hotel is very clean and refreshing and the staff is above top notch. The rooms are small but with great entry with wet bar. The food and bar prices are very steep, but the decor and service are great. There are no leisure facilities to speak of and excercise faciltity is an after thought. There is no pool, spa, etc. It is a great limited services boutique hotel with small rooms and great nautical theme. August 20, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Value but Several Disappointments For background, this was my fourth stay at Hotel Indigo Houston. The other three were somewhat better. I now plan to look for an alternative hotel the next time I'm in Houston. I apologize for such a long review, but it hopefully offers useful input for hotel management as well as prospective guests. First, by no means was my stay a horrible one, and I still (marginally) give the property a "yes" recommendation. There were a number of positives. First, since my company has a corporate discount, the overall value is a pretty good one. The size of the room (one BR suite) was also very spacious, and the bed itself was quite comfortable. Internet in the room is free and I believe they recently upgraded it because the speed was faster than on previous visits. The location, directly adjacent to the Galleria and very close to I-610 and U.S.-59, is certainly convenient. It has a functional fitness center and free document printing in their business center (a couple related negatives below, though). Finally, the food in the restaurant tasted pretty good and had reasonable prices. But there were a number of disappointments and opportunities for improvement. Most of them should be easy and low or no cost for the hotel to fix. As a general statement, I think it would be worth the plane fare for Indigo Houston management to take a quick trip to Hotel Indigo in Asheville, North Carolina to check out its facilities and service. It really is wonderfully operated and I have been delighted every time I stay there (4-5 times). The first disappointment on this stay at Indigo Houston was the room. I had requested in my reservation months earlier a room with a refrigerator (my previous three 1BR suites had one) and, if possible, a microwave since I was going to be there ten days. My room this time had neither. I assume the front desk didn't check my reservation request or didn't have access to it (I was too tired after my two-day trip from southeast Asia to request a different room). It's possible there were no such rooms left when I checked in, but I assume they would have mentioned if that were the case. Some of the furniture in the room was also awkwardly placed. The TV armoire in the Living Room was positioned off to the side so there was no place to sit for good viewing. This was particularly puzzling since there was plenty of room to move the armoire down the wall in a better position. The TV and wardrobe armoire in the bedroom was positioned fine for viewing but too close to a side chair so the wardrobe doors couldn't be opened all the way. Again, plenty of room to slide it over a bit (I tried, but too heavy). It seemed as if no one from management ever looked at or thought about the furniture placement. The room was also directly next to the elevator. Because the elevator arrival bell was loud, I was awakened every morning before I wanted to be. To potential guests who aren't planning to arise before 6:00am, I suggest keeping this in mind when you check in. The next disappointing aspect of my stay was the service at the cafe. I ate breakfast there most mornings and lunch on a couple occasions. It's a small cafe and one time it took several minutes to receive a menu (I was in a hurry that morning) with only two others eating and both the waitstaff standing talking to each other. Another morning I came in and half the tables, including the one I selected, were not yet cleared off from previous guests even though, again, the waitstaff was standing around. Another morning, I had to ask three times to get a condiment because my waitress forgot -- again, the cafe was not busy. Regarding other service, the front desk was responsive to my requests but didn't seem very cheerful or that pleased to help. A far cry from the staff at Indigo Asheville. I suggest customer service training be conducted and management monitors staff performance. Another disappointment that has a cheap and easy fix is in the fitness room. For its size, it's generally OK. But its selection of dumbbells is paltry. It would only take a minor investment to add some. Again, Indigo Asheville selection is much better. A final disappointment relates to the business center. The IT person had just installed a new printer/scanner the day after I arrived. But he didn't finish the installation in that the scanning software was never set up. Since I'm an IT manager, I know this is simple to do. I can appreciate an additional day being needed, but not finishing for at least another nine days (I'll bet it's still not) comes across as not caring about guests. I managed to figure out how to use the buttons on the hardware (I'm betting most guests couldn't) but after I got it to scan, the file it scanned to could not be found. After three tries and 45 minutes of trouble-shooting, I found it on the other computer. I heard another guest express frustration with the scanner also. Who is supposed to make sure the IT person finishes his task? Again, this comes across as not caring about the guest experience. In summary, because there are so many other similar-class hotel properties in the Galleria vicinity, potential guests may want to explore other options. If you do stay at Indigo Houston, I don't think you would be disgusted by any means. But I think their management needs to get more involved and make changes to demonstrate they care more about their guests having a positive experience. June 29, 2012
