Wife and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo five nights in April 2013. The property is almost new, and very nice. There is a streetcar stop on the St. Charles Ave. Line across the street from the hotel; it is a $1.25, 20 minute ride (usually) to the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets. Close to the French Quarter, but without the all-night noise of the French Quarter.
The young lady who helped us at check-in, Alexandra, was very friendly, helpful and professional. She thanked me for being a Priority Club Platinum Member, and gave us some very good chocolates at check-in. Our room was very nice; big and quiet, with a big bathroom and very comfortable bed. They furnished us a small refrigerator for the room at no cost.
We also had some problems during our stay. The floors in our room were not cleaned after our first three nights in the room; when we returned to our room on the fourth day; the room had not been cleaned at all. Strange, but the housekeeper didn't forget to take the tip money that we left on the bed for her, she just forgot to clean the room and make the bed. I complained to IHG via their website, and I received an email from them that the manager was going to contact me directly about the problems that we had. It's now a week later, and I am still waiting to hear from the property manager.
Bottom line? Nice property, with some management problems. The housekeeping staff is marginal at best, and it is obvious that no one is checking up on the housekeepers. Again, this is a management problem. This could be an outstanding property, if they could fix the housekeeping/management issues.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by jsands great location and friendly staff but they need more......
We enjoyed our stay at your new, very clean and friendly hotel but I did have several comments to share.
The staff was very helpful and friendly but they did not know the city or neighborhood. They could not even recommend a local spot for cajun food! You need to have menus, and experienced NOLA locals to make great recommendations for the guests.
You should have the local paper available.
The room does not have a refrigerator? They said they could bring one in but I don't know why it is not in the room already?
I would definitely recommend the hotel to others but you do need to improve the service.

We really enjoyed our room*. It was in a great location and the price was reasonable. We splurged on room service and the food was tasty but extremely overpriced....as is all room service. The best part was the staff. There were a few misses....*We had to get house keeping to vaccume our room because there were toe nail clippings on the rug. The only free parking was on the street, however there is a large parking lot behind the hotel reserved for Valet. It did not make sense because we were there during the week and I didnt see more than 4 cars in the lot (employee vehicles) at any time.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MommaBear61 Very nice hotel and location
This hotel is beautiful and the room was incredible. We had a king executive suite and it was such a nice room. We were upgraded at check-in by the front desk girl, for being a platinum member, and it was a very nice surprise and a very nice room with plenty of space for an extended stay. The hotel is in a very nice location to be only a few minutes from everything- French Quarter, Magazine St, Garden District shopping and touring, everything. The valets were every prompt and courteous. Housekeeping cleaned our room the first day beyond my expectations. The second day, however, they did not even clean our room at all! I was very surprised, especially since I had left them a nice tip the day before. I had to go to the front desk for towels and coffee! To say I was disappointed is an understatement. We checked out the next day, so there was no chance for them to redeem themselves. Of course, there was no apology or compensation. And the only reward for being a Platinum member is a small piece of chocolate.

This beautiful new hotel is in the garden district. The cablecar is right outside and you can take it into Bourbon Street or up to Tulane University. It's only $1.25 each way

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MAC50 2 Nights in the Indigo, New Orleans
My wife and I visited the hotel Indigo in the New Orleans Garden district during our first visit to New Orleans. The room was very big, comfortable and modern. The hotel is located pretty close to the downtown area, a cab ride to Bourbon Street set us back $10.00 with the tip. We walked it too and it took us about 45 minutes to reach the action. The hotel bar was nice and we were thankful that we could sit outside at the table area to people watch while we enjoyed our drinks. My only wish would be that they add mini-refrigerators to the rooms.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ab54 New favorite NOLA place to stay!
Loved the location, room, staff. Can't get any more New Orleans than this. Perfect location on corner of St. Charles and Jackson Ave. In the heart of Garden District, with street cars passing right in front. Bar and restaurant was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Getting in and out looked a little tight but it worked out great for us. Definitely recommend it to everyone wanting that true New Orleans flavor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NewOrleanFirst The new New Orleans
This hotel was perfectly located. It's nestled in the heart of New Orleans and is only a mile or so away from the famous Bourbon St. The trolley stops right in front of the hotel which makes it so easy to navigate the city without needing a car. The hotel itself was amazing. The staff genuinely cared about how I was enjoying my stay. I was there for two days on business, but I will definitely be back with my wife. This hotel brand really fits our kind of lifestyle. In addition, the front desk staff was so friendly and willing to help in anyway they could. I can't wait to go back soon!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MNMN Mixed Review
1. Only 1 chair; therefore, to watch TV one must sit in bed;
2. No carpet on most of floor -- if walking in bare feet, floor felt cold, gritty and sandy;
3. No fan in bathroom: mirror fogs terribly;
4. Poor/dim lighting in bathroom -- hard to shave/apply makeup;
5. Bathroom floor floods because of shower setup; not enough toweling to wipe up floor so one does not slip or slosh about;
6. Bath towels are too small;
7. Handle on sliding bathroom door is placed too close to door's edge; an air pocket sucks door closed and is difficult to open because of handle placement (can't get hand around door handle);
8. Desk chair rolls about far too freely; hard to work at desk when one is sitting in chair that shifts about so easily;
9. Mal-odorous, musk-heavy scent pumped through lobby -- overly and sickeningly "sweet" -- like a woman wearing cheap perfume (n.b.: many people are allergic to scents, especially strong cheap ones);
10. When I called later asking housekeeping if they had found something lost, they couldn't be located and never called back;
11. Front desk staff not overly ambitious, but they smile a lot;
12. Bed does not have solid/enclosed sides making it easy to inadvertently kick an item under the bed and misplace it (shoe/sock, etc.);
13. No light swtich at door that lights an interior room light -- have to walk to desk, turn on light and then walk back and turn off entrance light and that sequence is repeated when lighting bedside lamps (i.e., there is no way to sit in bed and turn off room lights);
14. Rates are high for all the corners cut;
15. HVAC vent is aimed directly at bed;
16. Ultra modern design is cold/unwelcoming.
17. There are ample plugs for charging phones/laptops, etc.
18. Hallway carpet has horrid odor -- and looks dark and dirty even though it is new;
19. Hallway lighting is too dim.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sharon23 Room wasn't cleaned
I would give this property a higher rating except that my room was never cleaned. I stayed two nights. The first day, I came back to the hotel very late in the evening as my daughter was in the hospital (she's a student at Tulane and I flew in to be with her) and I was shocked to see that housekeeping never came to my room. I was exhausted and annoyed and had to call to get new towels at that late hour. That was very disappointing and has never happened to me in my frequent travels. The staff promptly brought me fresh towels for the morning but noone seemed to apologetic for it or offered me any compensation. As a frequent traveler to NOLA I would consider this before booking my next reservation. Other than that everything was very nice. Very clean new accomodations, friendly staff.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Muckraker Nearly perfect
An interesting, very comfortable hotel at a price one might consider moderate for New Orleans. Would be nice to have a mini-fridge in every room (we asked for one, and it was delivered), and free coffee/tea in the lobby for guests... the basket of the coffee device in the room invariable spoils the taste of tea. Valet parking at $20 plus tax per night seems pricey -- sure, it's the going rate. but is it necessary? A crowd of managers in the hotel chain and their buses jammed the valet parking lane and curb as my wife needed valet escort to get an item from the car, and she had to wait for half an hour. To the hotel's credit, the front desk adjusted the bill for "guest inconvenience." But overall, an excellent experience.

Staff is great- front desk could be a little more genuine and didn't recognize me as priority club- the housekeeping staff is more friendly than the front desk- overall a good stay. the bartender, can't remember her name- long dark hair- was fantastic- told us all about the downtown area!

We were completely pleased with Hotel Indigo. Extremely clean and spacious room. The bathroom and shower were even more spacious. We loved the contemporary design, from the room and bathroom to the lobby and open restaurant area. It doesn't seem to be a particularly big hotel, and we thought that was great...no massive entrances and big banks of elevators with crowds everywhere. Valet was convenient. It's in the Garden District, which we loved and found more relaxing, yet you can catch the trolley literally right outside the front door and head for the French Quarter. The zoo is close too. We would recommend it, and plan to return.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gallopingon Comfortable bed but hideous decor
This hotel has nice size rooms and a comfortable bed and the staff were all helpful and agreeable. Unfortunately the decor is hideous. They must have been trying for an avant guarde look but instead it is discordant and strange. It looks ugly rather than hip.
The room we were in had a large bathroom but with a shower and no tub.
The hotel is well located for diverse activities in New Orleans.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Peacheygirl74 Overall Great BUT...
The maid service did not refresh the shampoo, conditioner, and soaps daily and for the nightly price, these should have been replaced every day. We had to ask the front desk staff for them twice. We also did not receive a shower mat 1 day of our 4 day stay. This is a new hotel but more attention to detail needs to be made for the housekeeping staff. We also found an empty water bottle behind a chair when we checked in. Please address with the head housekeeper. No one wants to check-in and find someone else's trash regardless. Overall our stay was pleasant and we enjoyed the hotel. Staff was courteous and very responsive.

well during the course of our stay the hotel was having pluming issues whick leads us to stay an entire night without water when my wife and i became aware of what was going on we became upset my wife went down to the front desk completely irrate in which there was a guy on shift, he was very pleasnt and polite to her and very comforting he assured her that the situation was out of his hands and he was unaware that this would take place he also assured my wife that he would do anything in his power to please use, he offered us bottles of water and not only that he walked those up to our room he checked on us a couple hours later and also the next day when he returned to work, even with many complaints at the desk at one time this young gentle man remained calm and kept a smile on his face and tried his best to please everyone. great guest sevice i commend him for all his hard work and effort

This young gentle man also took the time out to call my room shortly after check in to assure that i was satisfied with the room and if not would there be anything that he could do to accomidate my happiness. His perfomance definitely shined. Would love to see his face more often. great guy!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dannyandalana Great new hotel on the Avenue - location, ambience, price...PARADES
This is a great new hotel on St. Charles Ave.
Great Customer Service!!!!!
Staff was very friendly and went out of there way to be helpful (especially Anthony at the Valet Parking).
Had a few maintenance issues (safe and toilet chain) which needed tweaked (probably from construction - we may have been first visitors in the room). When we told the front desk, maintenance was there very quickly to straighten out the problems.
We were upgrade to a suite which was very spacious. It was decorated in the modern style of the Hotel Indigos, but still had a New Orleans feel!
Valet Parking was very reasonable for NOLA ($20.00/day).
Great location -- Car Stop for street cars right in front of the hotel. This will be a great location to watch the Mardi Gras parades.
The only downside to the stay was that there was a shoot for the Bud Light Super Bowl commercial in the lobby on Sunday morning. The people working on the commercial were very rude and seemed to be annoyed that they had to allow hotel guests to walk through the lobby. The Hotel Indigo employees were very accomodating and apologetic. ....and just in case the commercial content is secret until Super Sunday-- it involves a brown recliner moving around to locations in New Orleans.
Thanks to the Hotel Indigo staff for a pleasant stay!!

I stayed at the Hotel indigo on New Years Eve 2012 and I Loved it! The rooms were very spacious and up 2 date! The hotel staff was very friendley especially Teressa(sp) on night shift. She was very friendly and offered me a late checkout because I hate a late night! But by far one of the highlights was a young man that worked valet named Anthony! He was very friendly and went out of his way to help me and my wife! I can not say enough about him. I was very impressed by the overall stay and would def recommend to my friends!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mwtrip24 Beautifully decorated and conveinant to French Quarter
Overall for a one night stay, this was a pleasant stay. The hotel is beautiful and location to French Quarter is only minutes away. Bus stop is right on the corner and fare is cheap, route drops you off right on Bourbon and Canal. I'm not a fan of feather / down pillows so I would like to see an option of different pillows available on the bed. We had periodic loss of all water but may only be because of some kinks to work out since this was the first week they had been open. We were on the top floor and had a nice view of the area. If you can't or don't want to stay in the French Market this would be a good alternative.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comet Nice & new!
We came to stay at Hotel Indigo about one week after it opened for business. The young man who handled our check in was nice, but very unprofessional, kept indicating that there was a problem with our reservations, appeared very confused,
had us very concerned that we might not have a room. My opinion was that he should have said nothing at all, maintained a sense of decorum and professionalism and simply made us feel welcome. In the end, we did have a room and everyone else we encountered was very nice. However, we did call a few days before our arrival and ask for an upgraded room and were told an upgrade was available, but that was not the case when we arrived, which was disappointing. The room was spacious, loved the hardwood floors and big bathroom, and it was very quiet, which is always a plus. The location is ideal, right on St. Charles, which is a great area for walking, plenty of great restaurants, beautiful homes, easy access to the French Quarter and Magazine Street. The only cons we encountered were the very small elevators and no stairs available to the guests. Also, it would be nice to have a pot of coffee in the lobby for guests in the morning.....free continental breakfast would be even better! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would consider staying there again.
