Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fabi Great value and easy access to NYC
we stayed for 3 days at this hotel, the rooms are big and comfortable, the staff is helpful and friendly. It's a great value hotel. Probably the best thing about it is how easy it is to access NYC thanks to its location right in front of a NJ rail stop. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit NYC without paying through the nose for ridiculously sized rooms in the city, Loved it, we'll definitely use it next time we're in the area!

We had a nice stay over the weekend at the hotel. The front desk staff were pleasant and forthcoming. The surroundings are quiet and decent. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The only thing is that the shower tub is not equipped with a diverter spout. Just don't stand right under the shower head or you may get a cold shower when you turn on the tap. I will definitely come back next time when I am in the same area.

The idea of having to run the cold water for 15 minutes to be able to take a shower is nuts! Fix it!
Also fix the shower partisions, for an upscale hotel, there is no excuse for the design flaw being left as is.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JackUK Very disappointing
The following review is based on my experiences at other Indigo brand hotels, these include Indigo Chelsea, New York, US; Indigo Paddington, London, UK; Indigo Tower Hill, London, UK. The experiences at these hotels and the implied brand offering associated with the Indigo name have directly affected my view of this hotel. If this hotel had been branded as a Holiday Inn Express the expectations would have been totally different and the resulting review accordingly different.
Now on to the review:
This hotel epitomises what happens when a good concept (Indigo) is delivered poorly and on a budget. Instead of boutique hotel feel the hotel felt more like bargain basement. The rooms were large but felt cold, barren and uninviting. The light blue walls, light coloured wood flooring and uncommonly high white ceiling in the bedroom with nature motifs down the entrance to the room tried, but failed miserably, to add a unique feel that the Indigo brand try to achieve. Instead the colour combination resulted in adding an overwhelming cold feeling to the room. The colours would have suited a room in a tropical resort but certainly not a hotel in NJ.
The bathroom had a good shower however yet again the fixtures and fittings felt cheap and the design was poorly implemented. For instance the entrance to the shower cubical was right next to the toilet, this in itself was not much of an issue had it not been for the fact that the only way to switch on the shower was to get into the cubical. Due to the design of the shower control the only way to switch it on was to turn a single dial moving the full pressure water from freezing cold to hot. This forced you to get drenched with freezing cold water while desperately trying to turn the dial to hot. The light fittings in the bathroom looked straight out of a bargain catalogue and felt totally out of place. This was again true with the mirror frame over the sink which attempted, for some reason, to make you think it was made of bamboo. Totally out of place, cheap and tacky.
The closet space in the bedroom area was a large alcove covered with a long dark curtain, something that would fit a Holiday Inn Express brand offering, not an Indigo.
The air conditioner / heater was the cheapest one could get with no digital temperature controls just a dial for hot and cold with no ability to select a specific temperature. The unit was also very noisy and instead of turning down the heat when it had reached the required temperature it just switched its self off. This resulted in the unit spinning up loudly and switching its self off several times during the night.
Only redeeming factor in the whole room was the bed and bedding, this which was very comfortable.
Sadly, in my opinion, this hotel fails abysmally to live up to the Indigo brand promise and I believe also damages the Indigo brand offering.

This was our second stay in this hotel.
This time we had reserved 2 king rooms for a party of 4. We checked-in Saturday night around 11 p.m. when we reached our rooms on the 8th floor the rooms were noisy (like somebody taking a shower above us), but we thought that that was normal, however after 1 hr the noise was still there and it was impossible to fall asleep so we called the reception and they immediately moved us to 2 other rooms on the same floor (unfortunately not close to each other). The next day when we woke up we found our receipts under our doors but the price was 20$/room higher than our online reservation. We pointed out the discrepancy to the personnel at the desk and they immediately rectified the problem. So not a bad stay, since they promptly took care of the problems but not perfect either as those problems should not have occurred in the first place.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by citylovers Great rail & hwy access to NYC sites & airports makes a winner
Located in a multi-use building across the street access from NJ suburban rail service with adjoining city parking garage. Bistro dining in-house, neighborhood restaurants within walking distance, available local shuttle service and nearby taxi stand make this an outstandingly convenient hotel for visiting the NJ/NYC area at a reasonable price. Interestingly designed but plain rooms make for ease of access for those with handicaps. Choose room whether you prefer to face the rail station or not.

Pros:
- nice room
- good service
- clean
- next to the train station
cons:
- expensive breakfast (I ordered the breakfast "continental" and just got a muffin. They forgot to bring me the rest of the breakfast. The bad thing was, that I had to pay the full price! That was not fair.
- pricier

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great staff and a wonderful room.
We stayed two nights at the Indigo Hotel as it was right across the street from the train station. We planned on staying just one night but the train from the city had difficulties and we got back to our car close to midnight so decided to check back in. They were so sweet that late at night - even filled out our paperwork without me having to dig out anything. Breakfast was particularly inviting. A perfect place to stay if you are taking the train to Penn Station.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PeteinWales Convenient for NYC
I choose this hotel as my first choice when I can, when I am in NY or NJ. Prices are far more agreeable than staying in Manhattan, regular train service with NJT from adjacent rail station which drops you in Manhattan in about 40 minutes.
Always had good service apart from one slow check in, but the hotel is modern and meets all needs, all rooms I have used have been fine and as good or better as any other hotels I have used.

I have stayed at Hotel Indigo several times for both work and pleasure. The staff is exceptional. They are welcoming and kind and ready to greet with a smile. The rooms are clean, bright and beautifully appointed. The beds and the beautiful bedding makes you want to stay in them all day. The internet is fast and easy to log onto. I refer all my co-workers and friends to this hotel. You can't beat it for value, comfort and ease getting into the city.

This spot is tops for location with NY trains, a small grocery, coffee spots and a terrific bar all within two blocks. The hotel's water & food "store" was outrageously priced but we quickly found alternatives nearby. Not great on amenities - no frig, safe, or microwave but the staff was exceptional and the mattresses very comfortable.

gze10 Overall very good hotel
Hotel is business like. Rooms are o.k. Service is excellent, very nice and helpful personell. Complimentary shuttle to Newark Airport, from there the shuttle to Outlet mall Jersey Gardens can be taken, a very nice mall. Hotel is directly at Rahway railstation, only few steps away, (rooms are not noisy), NJ Transit train nearly every 20 minutes to New York Penn Station within 30 minutes, roundticket 17,50 USdlrs, also no problem to return at night time, we took the train from New York at 10:30 pm, train was full with passengers. Rahway is a nice little city and "The waiting room" a sports bar around the corner is excellent. We had a real good time at the hotel.
complimentary wireless lan.
