Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of my favorite Holiday Inn properties Great location near the beach and State Street in Santa Barbara. Cool, functional design to the rooms and common areas and the hotel is a great value for the money. The Blue Tavern restaurant is adjoined to the hotel and the food is okay there, but watch out for the bar prices. They are super proud of their drinks and charge you an arm and a leg for them, even the simple pours. Many, many choices within easy walking distance. If you know Santa Barbara, you know there is a train crossing on State Street a few blocks from the beach. The train runs very near the hotel, but it does not run late at night, but you will definitely hear it. I kind of like it. Adds to the ambiance. December 23, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, Friendly and Uniquely Decorated, but... I would like to state first, that this was not a bad stay. Bring a loved one or a date here, but this is not a good value for a buisness trip. My room was upgraded for free (yay!) but it was extremely small, after an upgrade! I have traveled the world, and I would have expected a room this size and price in Europe or Japan, but not here in the states. Shoulder width walking space around the bed, a bathroom that has fold out doors to 'build' a shower... Very little space. Other Indego stays were dramatically more 'bang for my buck' compared to this one. Waaay too pricy for what little I recieced. And seriously, who still charges guests for parking? Really? This practice has to stop. December 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay for the night Clean hotel, close to most downtown attractions. Rooms were quiet, bed was comfy and overall it was an excellent place to stay/crash for the night. Interior was very chic. It had a very modern feel. December 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Location, Unique Design The entire approach that this hotel took was very refreshing. The rooms, while small, were very unique and a pleasant departure from the bland Holiday inn design. The Blue Tavern is a FANTASTIC restaurant. While pricey, it is worth the cost. Best of all is the location, very easy to get to the freeway, the beaches, and State Street. December 19, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mildew/mold smell in most rooms There is a mildew/mold smell in most rooms. The hotel staff is great, but they could not really do anything concerning the smell. The hotel needs to have this problem professionally addressed since the problem seems to be embedded in the walls. It looked clean, but smelled bad. The hallway entrance area has a permanently running air freshener machine maybe to mask the smell in the general common areas, but all three rooms I was shown had the same smell, some rooms worse than the other. It was also a bit loud at night due to the activity of bars in the area. The hood is a little rough on the edges, but probably not unsafe. I fixed the toilet seat when there since it was falling off. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and great staff Really enjoyed our stay. Reminded me of traveling in Europe. Same size of room but patio was excellent as had an outdoor space to enjoy the great weather in Dec! Staff was great, easy parking. Romantic stay for me and my wife. Restaurant was excellent and we ate there for all but one of our dinners. The only thing that was a minor inconvenience was the bathroom door. Light from the bathroom was still pretty bright if you were trying to sleep while someone was in the bathroom. This is our new SB hotel from now on. We are going back in Jan and have already booked our stay. I won't name our former SB hotel but we liked this one much better for the true boutique experience. December 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Indigo = Romantic Weekend Even thought the room was relatively small it was sufficient, and even romantic. Loved the patio and the Blue Tavern restaurant was fantastic. We can't wait to go back. Only negative is less than private frosted glass bathroom door but not a problem when you have been married 26 years. December 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location in Santa Barbara We arrived very late on a rainy night. The front desk personnel were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The one negative about our arrival is the fact that there is no elevator and the lift for luggage was out of order. Fortunately we only had carry on size luggage. The room we reserved was small but we are not big people so it was fine for us. We liked the modern and clean feel to it. The location is very convenient to one of the piers and the beach as well as the Funk Zone - an area with galleries, restaurants, etc. We were also within walkig distance of the Santa Barbara Zoo, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also had a very good breakfast at the adjoining restaurant. There is good public transportation for those who do not choose to walk. The hotel happens to be right next to a train station but the trains evidently do not run in the middle of the night so we were not bothered by any noise. We would definitely stay here again., December 3, 2014
