    Neighborhoods

    Explore our neighborhood.

100 miles south of Dallas and 100 miles north of Austin, just off the Brazos River, lies Waco, Texas—a distinctive name given to our area by the Hueco Indian tribe who settled here years ago. This is a neighborhood built on cotton and cattle, and one especially proud of being the birthplace of Dr. Pepper, the location of a historically monumental footbridge over the Brazos (the model for the Brooklyn Bridge), and, of course, Baylor University athletics. Today, everything you see here is shaped by what is or was around us, on a timeline that stretches from those early settlers and cattle traders to encompass modern-day Texas’s flair—a historic combination worth celebrating.

    Dr. Pepper Museum

The “Home of Dr. Pepper” is the 1906 Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Co., which is on the National Register of Historic Places. It houses the Dr. Pepper Museum, which celebrates the native Texan soda with more than 100,000 artifacts. The museum includes the "Free Enterprise Institute," which teaches young people about the free enterprise economic system.

Bill and Eva Williams Bear Habitat

Baylor University is serious about its mascot, the bear. Since the school adopted the American black bear in 1914, more than 50 have called the university home. Currently residing at the habitat are Lady and Joy, weighing 285 and 330 pounds, respectively. Among the bear facts you will learn here, they are one of the few wild animals susceptible to tooth decay.

    Spice Village

With more than 90 individually owned shops under a historic 1908 landmark roof, you will discover a unique selection of clothes, children’s items, furniture, jewelry and home décor here. Located three blocks from the hotel, spend the entire day wandering the 30,000 square feet of shops, searching for one-of-a-kind gifts.

    Spice Village
Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum

The Rangers are one of the most cherished symbols of the Lone Star State. They have a heritage that began with the earliest settlements in Texas and have been compared to other world-famous law enforcement agencies, like the FBI, Scotland Yard and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Did you know it was a Texas Ranger who finally tracked down the elusive duo, Bonnie & Clyde?

    Balcones Distilling

It all started with an old welding shop under a bridge. Balcones hammered and welded its own stills, and sawed and nailed on a little shack to build the distillery it still uses today. Since then, Balcones Distilling has proudly released seven unique spirits and won 40 national and international awards. They don't just make whiskey in Texas; they make Texas whiskey.

    Testimonials

    • I usually stay in 4 star hotels, but this hotel is the best one in that class of hotels - period. The room was first class. The decor was fresh and unique. The bathroom felt like a spa. The entire property had an elegant ambience. In addition, the food was excellent. In particular, I recommend the stuffed avocado and the chocolate amaretto mousse!

    • The hotel lobby is indicative of the type of service customers will receive. The front desk staff were very courteous. From check-in to check-out it was first class all the way. The walk-in shower floor has a non-slip surface which is a great safety measure. The layout of the room was very welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised that my room had a Keurig machine so I was able to enjoy my favorite coffee when I wanted.
