The holiday inn was perfectly situated for a girls weekend away. It was very clean and the staff were very helpful at all times. Would go back again.

Great location on seafront. Parking easy and with Platinum member discount. Excellent staff service. Very nice room with sea view. Yes the hotel is s little bit tired in places (hence the rating as "good"), but I would not hesitate to stay again if given the same room.

There is a blue plaque on the wall stating that Charles Dickens regularly used the hotel when under another name in the 19th century. I think that if he returned today he would find lots of things haven't changed!!
The hotel, although enjoying a fantastic location on the sea front, needs a complete updating. The rooms, although clean, are very tired and need refurbishment. The television in my room was at least 15 years old and programme reception was poor. Corridors are dark and gloomy and public areas uninviting. I think that part of the problem may be that the hotel is managed by a subsidiary company. I had to request an upgrade to my room, despite being a Platinum member and check in was slow and understaffed. With the exception of Danny, who was on reception when I checked out and who could not have been more helpful and friendly, the staff looked gloomy and not very interested. However, underground parking for Platinum members is half price and wireless access is free so it's not all bad news!

As a Gold priority club members we were not impressed by our reception at check-in. No welcome smile, no offer to book us in for dinner. We had requested extra pillows (medical) when booking but it took 7 hours and several requests for these to be supplied.
As regular users of Holiday Inn this was the worst experience we have had, and informed the duty manager that we were not impressed.

Bed really uncomfortable and small, pillows were like bits of ryvita. Rooms need complete refresh, quite old looking and not the usual holiday inn standards. Quality not the same, would not stay here again.

Plenty of choice at breakfast.

The room was a standard room with a good mattress and pillows, quiet and a good shower. Coffee and tea available. TV very old with very poor reception.
I was attending a seminar and the food provided for the seminar was very good.
I had dinner on Friday night at the restaurant and is was tasteless and very expensive.
I paid for 2 nights. Was there only for one night and had to pay for two. no breakfast included.
The staff not very friendly. On the defensive all the time.
The view of the burnt pier and some dreadful high crane not very relaxing.
I would not return.
