It was pretty quiet that night and i had a good dinner next door at the brewpub.

Front desk was helpful, pool was great and breakfast was very nice. The only issue was no towels for swimming the first night. be was corrected the next day. Overall I had a wonderful time and would recommend this location to anyone who would like to spend time in the redwoods.

Hotel was okay but not up to normal Holiday Inn standards, I choose the Holiday Inn based on previous stays in other cities but this one does not compare. The service was good but the rooms were noisy and outdated. The pool area was fine but nothing compared to the photos and it was a little cold. If I had to be in Fortuna again I would not avoid this hotel but I would be willing to travel a little further from my destination to find something different.

This hotel was cheap, so I had low expectations. This is the first HIE I have stayed at that had the entrances to the rooms on the outside and no elevator. It seems like it had been some sort of motel that was converted over to a HIE.
The gentleman at the front desk had us in a second floor room, but when we realized there wasn't an elevator, he moved us into a room on the first floor without any issue. Usually I wouldn't care, but we were in the middle of a two week trip and had some heavy bags.
One nice perk to this hotel was a discount at the Eel River Brewing Co that is within walking distance.
One complaint would be the lack of breakfast options. I recall them being out ofbananas and I don't think they had a pancake maker like most HIEs.

The hotel was a normal HI Express facility near the freeway and a small conference center. However, the rooms are quite dark because the covered exterior walkways have "arches" that block much of the light. After checking in, I realized that I had been given the one room in the hotel that was smaller than all the others, as it had a mechanical closet taking a chunk out of it. Since I needed to work in the room, it was an inconvenient feature. I immediately asked to move to another room, but the desk clerk became surly and told me that the hotel was booked and there were no rooms available. I noted that the parking lot was nearly empty, and that it was early in the day, meaning that the rooms had not all been assigned. I also noted that I was a PC Platinum level and that would entitle me to a room upgrade if available. He rudely repeated himself and incorrectly told me that upgrades for Platinum members were only available if I called three days ahead of time. When I saw him again the next day, he was unfriendly and glared at me. I did not feel welcome at this hotel.
Luckily, this was not characteristic of HI staff, or I would stay elsewhere when I travel.

For that price, the room is reasonable. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere but very close to Highway 101. We found ants in the bathroom and the front desk was notified. They did apologize for that. Heater is quite noisy though.

My wife and I stayed here due to a family emergency. The staff was excellent and the room comfortable and clean. The property has been converted from some other unknown chain and so all the rooms are outside entrances, which was fine. Overall a good stay.

Clean room and bedding. A bit noisy with vehicles and people coming and going. Price reasonable. Staff couldn't do enough for you. We've traveled across country 3 times & H.I. Express properties generally a great option everywhere; some beautiful even. Location and how old the property does apply in recommendations; this one is a good location for us but isn't the newest or nicest we've enjoyed; but still accommodating.
