Had requested connecting rooms. Spoke to reserations at the
hotel to confirm. Upon check in I was told we had connecting
rooms. Go to rooms and they are not conneting. Go back to
front desk.
1. Told - can't give you connecting rooms because the person
didn't check out of the room.
2. Then told no connecting rooms due to the number of
weddings.
3. Then told that I booked through a travel agent so no
connecting rooms. I called the hotel directly to make my
room reservations.
Three separate trips to the front desk to get check in - terrible
service.
We were then given rooms 1003 and 1004. Room 1003 was
a disgrace of a room.

We went there for our wedding anniversary and told them that when booking the room but when we got there they had put us in a room next the alley where our view was the roof of the restaurant, (DIRTY) and out the other window was the alley and a parking garage. I expected more for the kind of money we paid and just more in general from such an up scale hotel. I am sure our experience would have been better had we been put in a better room.

It is always very enjoyable to stay at the Stephen F. Austin. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable with amazing bed linens!

The hotel and stall is great and worth the money if you want to stay up till 2 am and party. We were on the 3rd floor corner room and the music boom, boom, boom was loud till 2 or so. The hotel being downtown in the entertainment district attracted partiers down below and in cars with boom boxes and motorcycles revving that it was impossible to sleep until it all died down.
My husband said, It was the most expensive, worse nights sleep he had ever had and I agreed.

The stay was good overall. Unfortunately, the people in the room next to mine began screaming at 2:45am. I called the front desk, but I believe they quieted down before someone would have arrived. That being said, the staff were wonderful as always and are always the draw for our visiting the hotel. I forgot my contact case and when I asked the front desk if they knew where I could purchase one, they pulled one out from a box below the desk. That was a wonderful surprise! All the staff was helpful, but Vivanne at the front desk was particularly helpful and friendly.

The beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure was great, two important things for me in reviewing. The one big negative is that there is a lack of landing space in the bathroom. We needed more room to lay out our toiletries.
